We walk in and was immediately greeted. Nice. The store is very open and clearly separated by department. Everything is neatly organized and the store is clean. I didn't see any broken items or messy areas. There is a clothing menu that is priced according to type and not necessarily the brand so that can be hit or miss. While browsing, we had another employee sincerely greet us as well. Very kind. I liked that there was not obnoxious music playing or too loud. It was normal and at a low level. Even though the store was somewhat sparse, we managed to buy 5 items. I assume that since they are new, still waiting for donations. Prices are fair and less than what Goodwill charges. The other ding is that the clothing racks and sizing are non-sensical. Typically you size your racks going left to right or clockwise. The size ring should be in front with the corresponding size to the right of it and THEN it should snake to the other side like a figure 8 until you reach the end. I could not figure out where my size was because it would be on the right of the ring in one aisle but on the left of it on the next aisle. It got so confusing that I gave up. They must not have a real merchandiser on staff? Anyway, it was an overall positive experience and all of the employees was truly pleasant and kind.

I did find some pjs for myself too. Everyone was super friendly there. They were handing out hotdogs and sodas outside. They also offered one free toy or book to my daughter! That was pretty sweet. I just wasn't super impressed with their selection of clothes for kids or women's stuff.

As a military brat, this organization holds a special place in my heart. I have donated to this cause for fifteen years, including posting a reminder daily on my Facebook page to vote for VGH to win a large donation from Home Depot years ago. And, yes, they won! Finally, I visited their wonderful facility at their annual open house on December 9, 2023. I am so pleased to see that we are helping our Veterans and their families with lodging while the Veteran receives medical attention at no cost to them! Many companies and other groups provide dinner nightly for those staying there! If you have a minute, you might want to take a quick tour to see how VGH "spends" our donations and I believe you will also be impressed. Please keep in mind that VGH operates solely on the donations of our local community! There are reading areas, a laundry room, TV rooms, and bedrooms from single beds to family-sized all with bathrooms, large open community areas like the kitchen and dining area. Please remember that our Veterans signed a blank check when they served our country and now we can help them!

Several times a year I drop off various greeting cards for the guests to use, as well as various dental items. They also accept cash and gift cards to several area stores. Throughout the year VGH has a few fund raisers. October is Boots to Fashion. A fabulous event at a Reno casino ballroom that includes a champagne three course lunch, raffle and auction items and of course a fashion show. Women veterans of all ages and branches donate their time walk the runway and show off the latest trends in women's clothing from local shops. A fabulous event that honors the many women in the military. Why are fund raisers needed ? Because VGH provides US military service veterans and their families a place to stay in Reno while they are receiving medical treatment at the VA Center or other area facilities. The House is like a small hotel with a common area living room and kitchen. It is not associated the Veterans Administration. Guests are suggested a $25 a night donation to help defray costs, but no one is refused for lack of funds. The house, located across the street from the VA Hospital, is a non-profit, and receives no state or federal money for its day to day operations. Huge kudos for everything the VGH does for the veterans. Thank you sir and mam for your service. For more info - veteransguesthouse.org

Great place to shop when looking for that special outfit for an event like a wedding or even for just dressing up when you go to an upscale restaurant, for holidays, or maybe your anniversary, and you don't want to break the bank. Also I encourage you, when you are ready to buy new, to donate your designer purses and clothes to Esther's Closet. It gives us all a better inventory to shop from and it benefit's Hosanna Home which is helping women in desperate need.

Their hours are very limited so it took me months to actually be able to drop off my donations because I work very long hours. The store is in a big complex along with other stores so the sign they have pointing to where the store is was helpful. The store is very clean and well organized. They have vast selections of items and in great condition. I came in to drop off donations but ended up buying three dresses to take home! The store rep was super nice, and when I asked about more information about the boutique she was happy to give me a bit of history and I thought it was awesome!

I was living at Our Place (Shelter) and they contacted me about the transitional housing program. This day completely changed my life around. I entered the Transitional Housing program with a newborn. They gave me a place to stay, assistance with basic needs (diapers, toiletries, food, furniture, etc.), and provided a furnished apartment. Throughout my stay they gave us food to be able to provide a Christmas dinner to our families, birthday baskets for our children, and countless other forms of support! They provided my daughter and I stability, which I can never thank them enough for!! While in the program I was able to attend classes such as book club, financial literacy, and support group. They even paid for therapy! I met with a financial coach every 2 weeks and she taught me how to keep a budget, pay off debt, save, and get back on my feet. I learned so many skills in the program, and these ladies are incredible! They are there to support you every step of the way. When you're in a DV situation it can feel very lonely, but they are always there for you in moments of need! Never in a million years did I think I would have been in that situation, but thank God they were there when I was! I will forever be grateful to these women for helping give my baby and me a great life. I am now in my own apartment, could afford a car, and am able to stand on my own 2 feet and be a proud mom. Thank you DVRC for all of your hard work to assisting women in DV situations. You have changed so many lives for the better!
