Came here after a run during my time in the Valdosta area and it was okay. The staff was very friendly, but we thought the food was just good. My burger was cooked well done and the fries weren't crispy. The tomatoes on the burger were chopped up cherry tomatoes, not like actual slices of tomato which I found odd. The shrimp dinner comes with one side. No hush puppies or Cole slaw. The shrimp had a flavor. The breading was horrible. The seafood dip was supposed to come with crackers and veggies. No veggies. We had to ask for them. They are cutting cost o they DON'T send them unless you ask. The fish tacos were lacking flavor just like the shrimp. The steak my son ordered was over cooked and the Brussels sprouts were burnt on the outside and raw in the center. $162.00 for that meal and Long John Silvers would have been better! The atmosphere was dead. Our watress told us the crowd had started falling off. I told her the food was horrible and that's why the place is empty. It reopened in May and I do t see it making it through October. The only reason I'm giving it 1star is because the waitress was nice and honest. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

Place was clean and the service was good. Had a fun vibe to it. Food was ok. Started with the Cajun biscuits/rolls. They were a bit dense. I got the jambalaya. It had a strong tomato flavor and not much spice to it. Shrimp was cooked well as it was still soft. Overall the dish lacked a lot of flavor outside of the chicken thigh. It was a little over cooked, but crunchy skin and tasted good. Chopped it up and ate it with the rice to give the rice some flavor. My wife got the lemon garlic shrimp. She said it was good. A super diamond in the limited restaurant landscape of Valdosta GA. The service from arrival to departure was great and friendly. We enjoyed the happy hour specials and choose the 6 raw oysters from the Virginia area that were fresh and tasty. The bartender Sav the bartender was very personable and attentive. The outside deck had a live band and additional space for outside dwellers. My wife had the fish of the day and I enjoyed the heck out of the boneless ribeye with slaw as well as Mexican street corn. Yelp never fails and neither will The Salty Snapper. Hungry and road weary, pulled up restaurants for Valdosta and The Salty Snapper grabbed my intention. Set off a winding road with beautiful tall Georgia pine trees. They offer live music in addition to great food. We had a dozen oysters from the gulf and man were the delicious and fresh. My wife had the smoked salmon salad and I had the NY strip bites . Both were outstanding. I topped it off with their key lime pie. I highly recommend. My wife does have seafood allergies. First time we have ever had a manager come out and check to make sure everything was ok with the food and to address any allergy concerns. Friendly smiling staff. Morgan was our server and was great. Not fair from the beaten path in Valdosta and you can get some excellently prepared food at this quaint little stop. I had the jambalaya and it really hit the spot. I can't say it's the best I've ever had but it was very good. However, oddly enough I ordered the pot stickers that I believe were on special and they were amazing. Flavorful and a healthy portion. I originally rated this place 4 stars, now after eating here for over a year it's a solid 5! I've found servers that mesh well with my family of 6. If I had to recommend anything it would be pretty much any taco they have and accompany that with oysters and an order of wings. Small draft beer selection, but they rotate very often and you can pretty much have a different beer every time you visit. The oysters come from all over the east coast and the gulf. We went on a Saturday and enjoyed having late brunch. The shrimp and grits are the best take I've ever seen and tasted on the beloved classic. The food turn around was quick and convenient. The "Cajun corn" had a good spice to it just for flavor, but I will say it came out a little cold. The staff was great, and I highly recommend the watermelon crawl! Really enjoyed our recent visit while I town. Had my daughter hubby and grand daughter and got sat quick , had a great waiter. Started with some drinks and sausage app and tuna- all great. We all got fish -special, I had the grilled snapper and hush puppies which was rich and quite good. All the meals were perfectly cooked and service was excellent. We recently visited the Salty Snapper on a weeknight. There were a lot of people, especially on the back deck for karaoke night. The service was very friendly. Went here for dinner after work with a couple of work friends. I ordered a Carolina pork taco (I added the white queso to it) and a strawberry fields beverage. We split the wings and the queso and chips. The beverage was very strong ... I had to mix it with water (this is not a complaint :)) and my pork taco was a tad bit dry but I was able to choke it down. The atmosphere was nice. However, the staff could have been a little more attentive and he came off a tiny bit rude during the initial q and a about the menu and drink specials. He seemed a little distracted with some of the guest that were there prior to us. I think they may have known each other. They did have a live band which really added to the atmosphere. Salty Snapper is a good casual seafood spot with a nice shiplack decor. My friend and I had great food. For about $60, we both had the shipwreck margarita, edamame, fish dip, dynamite shrimp tacos and shrimp and grits. Our server was efficient and attentive and the food came out quickly. Looks like they have a nice outdoor bar/cabana area for dining. We enjoyed everything except for the fish dip, which was salmon based but was heavily smoked. Wow what a gem, combining great food with great service. We both had shrimp dishes and both were rich with flavor. The service staff is obviously well trained, focused on the customer. Our server 'left handed" Joey (my wife's left handed so anyone left handed is immediately superior) was outstanding. He made sure everything was just perfect. But a big shout out to the rest of the staff, it was never a " not my table issue". When Joey wasn't there and we asked for something, we got it. Way to go team! We will be back, and you should go. Oh my, what a fun and exciting setting for a restaurant/bar/live music venue. I had read Yelp! reviews and after a turn of events, we came here for a late dinner, here are a few high points: Service was fantastic, from the hostess, to the servers and our waitress. They all seemed to be having fun, happy to meet new people and made you feel like family. The venue was fun, rustic and had cool little nooks and crannies. Turn one way and you saw cool decorations, turn another and see a tabletop shuffleboard game, and go outside and see live music. If you cannot have fun here, you cannot have fun. The food was good, it really was. We shared a dozen raw oysters and smoked fish dip and moved on to various shrimp dishes, fish and even burgers. The food was plenty good, not crazy James Beard good, but you don't really come here for the food. You come here for fun, for fellowship and maybe to listen to live music. read more

Let your imagination take you to a quaint beach spot, we know Valdosta is landlocked but the feeling here is island tropics from the amazing menu to the colorful drinks. We are new to the area in Valdosta. My husband and I love good seafood....So we googled Seafood Restaurants near me and just happened to find one of the best seafood places we have ever ate at in the state of Georgia last night. Michael behind the bar was beyond amazing and his knowledge of the menu and specials were on point. He made us feel right at home and explained the menu and oyster selection in length to us. You don't find people like him every day. The outside atmosphere was top notch and the heaters were warm and cozy. Only giving The Salty Snapper one star, because I'm required to give them at least one star to leave a review. After being seated, didn't see our waiter for 15 minutes, and that's only because we got up and complained. He brought a beer and water promptly, so we thought the experience could be salvaged. Nope. Another 15-20 minutes never saw a server again. Left four bucks for the beer, spoke with the manager, walked out. It was a Monday, and not remotely busy. read more

Great atmosphere here with live music on the regular. Sitting outside can be VERY LOUD with live music playing and you can't really talk to each other over it. The food is always consistent. Oysters are really good but very expensive. Fried apps and seafood is usually always on point. Great bar selection and staff is usually always very good. Been here twice. Our server was rude, didn't smile once. She seemed very annoyed. Food came out with bacon burnt so bad it was black. The Cajun corn did not come out how it usually comes out( with the toppings on it) and was so dry that it felt like it had been sitting out for hours. Ambiance is cheap.
