I previously went to The Salon Professional Academy in Plainfield, I dropped out October of last year, attempted to go back in January did not get any answers until may of this year. To which I was told I had to pay $2900 to go back. Fast forward 2 weeks later the school closed down. Fast forward to this past Monday date of 9/18/2023, I spoke with my one of my fellow classmates who told me to reach out to the previous owner Richard Dramato, I have been struggling to get in contact with him to get ahold of my transcript he has been asking repeatedly if I had any money due to the school, to which I responded to my knowledge I did not. He said he will contact the third party company that is holding the transcripts. Fast forward to today 9/21/2023 I have yet to hear anything back from him. I asked for the company's information, no response. I have tried to contact every department within the state that I could think of, as well as had someone tell me to file the complaint as they were unsure what to do. As well as contacted the old director and previous teachers. I am just getting a run around, all to get my transcripts. I was in school roughly 600 of 1500 hours, I would just like my transcripts so I do not have to start from 0 hours. Lastly I would just like my transcripts from a school that has since closed down. read more

Wow, what a horrible experience. They absolutely butchered my daughters no chip manicure and damaged her nails. She left in tears and in pain. Follow up calls were completely ignored by management/supervisors. My calls were returned by a very sweet receptionist (Thanks Lauren), but no one above her even had the courtesy to return a call. And all Lauren was allowed to do, was offer a "re-do". Of course we will not go back for a re-do, we already paid to have her nails fixed at another salon. They were shocked at the state of her nails after her experience at The Salon Professional Academy. read more

I do not recommend anyone patronize this school! Back in July they had some students announcing that prices were increasing. However they couldn't tell you what the new prices were going to be. I returned a week later, the student stylist completed my wash and roller set and charged me a 100% increase! When I inquired I was told we'll charge you today your regular price but next time it will be more. To this day, they never put up a sign showing the new prices! They operate under shady practices increasing prices for routine customers but not others. read more

Professional? Far from it... more like Salon Unprofessional Administration and staff. A little education in Human resources or even a real college education might improve the way you deliver in a diverse environment. Smiles go a long way and you do not get any from this staff. Doors will close at this school soon if they don't make changes in this front office. I gave them a 1 star rating only because of one particular teacher that really was fair and equal to all her students otherwise it would of been a big fat ZERO! read more

I've been here a few times for advanced education.. The facility is nice! I did not attend this school... But I help with the hiring process at my salon and most of our hires are from here... The students seem to be getting a top notch education compared to local competition. I recommend this school often to anyone seeking cosmetology as a future career! read more

I'm always very happy and pleased with the services at this academy. The director and teachers are great and really take their time working with each stylist to make sure each customer's experience is great! This is a school so you have to be patient with time, but they are learning and the prices are great! Have been going here for years and never had a bad experience! read more

Horrible service! My daughter went in for a basic blonde touch up and highlight and her hair turned out gray with purple hues. She told them.she was not happy and the male supervisor said her hair looked fine and it would wash out eventually. I called to get out $60 returned and they said they wanted her to come back In so they could fix it. Well why didn't you fix it when she was there? This was a terrible experience and they were unprofessional! Do not recommend! read more

I've been getting my hair cut and colored here for a year. No one I'm the area can compete with the prices. I just get one all over color and I have never need dissatisfied. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because the whole process does take longer than a regular salon. The girls here are still learning and don't have much experience because they're just starting. A teacher comes over and guides the girls on what to do and my hair has always come out exactly the way I was asking. The place is very clean, they use high quality products and everyone has always been very friendly. I suggest going in the morning and clearing your schedule for a few hours and if you can do that then give them a shot, they're worth it! read more

I got my hair dyed here today by the lovely Natalie, and she was great! I have never dyed my hair before and being the poor college student that I am I wanted a cheap job yet too scared to buy the box and try it myself! Anyway, the services are all done by the students who are supervised by instructors, but you could never tell they are students because they all do a great job and the place is always busy. Highly recommend if you do not want to pay regular salon prices and want good quality look. read more

Not a good experience! I went in to do a full hair dye. My hair is black and I wanted to dye it burgundy/purple. I came in with a picture and was given a level 1 student. I didn't think much of it, because it was just an overall color. They color corrected and bleached my entire head. The teacher, I'm assuming that's who it was, told the stylist to add a toner over my hair which lifted the color of my roots very well, but not the rest of my hair. Large patches of my hair were still black but they ignored this and threw on a RED hair dye. I showed the a picture of burgundyish purple hair, and I came out with orange hair/copper hair. The student said she was concerned with why her teacher only told her to do a red dye, but did it nonetheless. I told them this was not what I wanted, and they did try to fix it by adding a purple dye over it but that washed out in two washes and my hair was back to orange. The teacher does not care at all about the students work, and didn't seemed concerned at all as to why my hair was orange when I asked for burgundy. I was extremely disappointed by this experience and wasted $70 on a hair color I didn't even want. read more

I had called to schedule an appointment with a close friend of mine but the receptionist said that my friend doesn't attend the school. The entire time I was sitting next to my friend (who DOES attend the school). The receptionist then became very rude and tried to force me to go with another student- who I did not want to be scheduled with. The receptionist continued to try to force another student on to me but at this point I am not even interested in coming to the school, if this is the treatment you get before you even step foot into the salon. read more

Tonight I came in for a service and she was obnoxiously rude I had told her the girl I was there to see & she completely ignored me & told me to sit down. For being the first person you see when you enter the business I expect to see a smile or at least a happy face. She looked miserable & I honestly don't think I will be returning because of this horrible experience. read more

I went in last prom season for prom hair and makeup. First thing the girls says to me is "oh no I'm not good at up dos" she made me hair look absolutely terrible. I didn't even try to ask her to redo it because of her previous comment about being bad at up-dos. We then went over to get my makeup done and that was even worse. I came out with two black eyes and purple lips. (There was another young girl getting her makeup done next to me who actually looked good). I ended up looking so bad that I had to go to an actually hair salon and Benefit makeup bar to get my hair and makeup fixed. I'm not sure how the stylist I was given was even allowed to work with me. I understand you need to learn somehow but this was just horrible. Such a waste of time and money for me. read more

I had a horrible experience. I requested a senior student to do highlights, and explained that I wanted them very random and all underneath the top layer of my hair. The student immediately started putting highlights on top of my head and I questioned her and she told me it was fine. Then once all of the foils were removed there were huge blotchy areas everywhere. I asked for her to fix them the student found an instructor and they mixed a darker color of hair color, but not dark enough in my opinion, and attempted to put some darker color on the blotches. I was still not happy with the end result, but after being there for 3 1/2 hours I told them I would just fix it myself, which is what I did, I went to the store and bought a box of hair die the same color as my hair and combed it in over the blotches and it looked great. But when I got to the register they then charged me for additional die color, which I don't think is my responsibility and the instructor began to raise her voice at me and was extremely rude. I had been at this facility in the past and my experiences were always ok, so I tried to set up an appointment today and they asked me for my name and then told me I was banned from the facility and that I couldn't set up an appointment because they had in the system that I was screaming and yelling at the student and the instructor, which did not happen, I just asked the girl politely to fix the blotches which she had not, then the girl on the phone hung up on me. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! read more

Prices are great but I was there for 41/2 hrs for partial high lites and a cut- that's insane!!!!!! High lites were pretty brassy. The staff was very rude- most of them. Everyone was on their phones texting- it was VERY unprofessional. . I stood at the door for a good 3 min before the greeter noticed I was there because she was texting. The advisors were pretty friendly except for this young one with fake red hair- she was rude and made me feel like an inconvenience. Like I said the prices are great - if you have 5+ hrs free. I would not go back for any color treatment. Maybe nails - I can't imagine that could take too long. read more

What a great school! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. You can tell the students here are raised for success. Also, these students are more professional then some licensed cosmetologists. They offer a variety of services at amazing prices. I would recommend this school to anyone that is looking to beautify their look!! read more

First I want to say that I have no problems with the salon or anyone inside it, but I do have something to say about their hair dye and dye time. I went to have my haired dyed a nice plum/ red color. It came out great, but then three days later the dye is almost completely gone from my hair say for a few spots! I my appointment at 1-:30, I did leave until about 1:15! I tried to call to see what they could do to help fix this but I was sent directly to voicemail. I am not pleased. But you cant beat the prices so I might just continue to come for hair trims but I think I will go somewhere else to have it dyed. read more
