Terrific stylist! I didn't know what a good haircut was until this place.

This place is an amazing concept from the time you walk in to the time you leave. If you want an…read moreexperience that everyone feels like they know you from the front desk team to your barber this is it. Jess T., is simply amazing and I highly recommend! Each time I visit I feel like a member of the family! I used to go to an old school barber when I was young with my dad that included sports, beer fridge and other things like a straight razor clean up and this reminds me of that experience every time. The owner and founder of the company Ben Davis, will also engage with you, which is an amazing customer service experience. They also give back to Veterans which to me is an amazing venture and appreciated. I do not care what any other review says but this is the place to get an amazing haircut and experience hands down!

The Gents Place was certainly an experience. Unfortunately, I'm not sure "relaxing" is the word I'd…read moreuse to describe it. I'll start with the positive: the host/receptionist was genuinely friendly and welcoming, and my stylist was personable as well. That said, within the first 10-15 minutes of sitting down, I had received what felt like the director's commentary on her departure from another shop in town -- the drama, the personalities involved, how she got caught in the middle of everything, etc. I sympathize. Truly. But as someone who had never met any of these people and had only come in for a haircut, I found myself wondering whether I should offer advice, take notes, or simply nod sympathetically until we returned to the reason I was actually there. Then came the facial and massage portion. I'll freely admit that I don't especially enjoy people touching my face, so perhaps I'm not the target audience for this particular amenity. Still, the facial massage was less "luxury spa" and more "extended investigation of my nose." There was a surprising amount of attention paid to it. I'm not sure what secrets my nose was suspected of withholding, but I believe it eventually cooperated. The neck massage was similarly puzzling. One side of my neck received quite a bit of pressure, while the other apparently had diplomatic immunity. And then there was the massage chair. I have experienced massage chairs before. This one felt less like a massage and more like driving down a poorly maintained road while something underneath the seat repeatedly attempted to make contact with my backside. Until today, I had never contemplated the concept of a butt massage. I can now say with confidence that I was not missing anything. The haircut itself was fine. Perfectly acceptable. But nothing about it struck me as exceptional. Since first-time guests receive 50% off, I was comfortable enough with what I paid. At the regular price of around $90, however, I would have been extremely disappointed. What ultimately bothered me most wasn't any one awkward massage or conversation. It was the constant selling. I must have heard about memberships three or four times during the appointment. I understand that The Gents Place sells memberships. I promise I understood it the first time. Then came repeated mentions of the products being their house products, explanations of what was available for purchase, and various other reminders of things I could spend money on. Eventually, the experience stopped feeling like hospitality and started feeling like I had wandered into a very well-upholstered sales funnel. That's really the unfortunate part. For a business built around the idea of an elevated, personalized grooming experience, I left feeling considerably more like a wallet than a guest. I still tipped $20, because the stylist was friendly, she did provide the service, and none of this was egregious enough to justify taking it out on her gratuity. But I won't be returning. For $90, I don't need champagne, a throne, or someone to address me as "Your Excellency." I just want a great haircut, a genuinely relaxing experience, and ideally fewer conversations about memberships, workplace drama, and whatever was happening underneath that massage chair.

I requested an appointment through Yelp and received a friendly text back within five minutes, letting me know they'd be open at 9 AM. When I arrived a little early, one of the barbers greeted me and let me know Ace would be in shortly. The shop has a great 'back-in-time' vibe with a solid music selection. Ace gave me one of the best fades I've ever had, and he also shaped up my beard with a straight razor. The attention to detail was fantastic. I take my cut seriously and always aim for a sharp appearance, and Ace definitely delivered. If you're like me and care about your personal brand, look no further--Ace is your guy!

First off one side of the cheek is lined up lower than the other while the left side dips down and isn't a straight line. I kind of knew it was not going to be straight cause he looked at it and said "that's good!" Which made me nervous. Then he left quite a bit of hair on my cheek after the shave. As far as my neck! It is on fire! I have never had a shave hurt so bad and so many spots of blood after either. Hate to say it but won't ever go back especially for the price! I should I have looked at the reviews.
