I stopped here to get a quick bite on the way to Sacramento. While eating, I was delighted to hear an incredible young man play the piano and sing a Christian song that really moved me. The food was excellent and the people just incredible. Ruben was my server, and we started to talk about life, and I mentioned that I was going through a personal family problem. He asked for permission and then prayed for my family at the table. What an incredible group of young men they have! So bummed to leave this review, but I was so excited to take my family here based on the reviews. It's a cute spot and has indoor/outdoor seating. The host/Waiter/bartender/server/bus boy was good considering he was pretty much doing it all by himself today. Luckily it wasn't too busy based on the handful of families there. Our dining experience was a total of 2 hours and that's too long with some hungry youngsters trying to keep entertained. They did have coloring pages, but that only lasted about 10 minutes. The menu had a lot of variety and there's most likely something for everyone. We wanted a bacon grilled cheese... but no bacon because the distributes did not come today. Super disappointed. Then they ran out of pancake batter, so one kiddo had to take a different option and luckily that was without a fuss. I ordered the fish and chips and they were absolutely horrible. I realize it's tilapia, but the fish takes like mud and was not appetizing at all after the first bite so I got full off of the delicious sweet potato fries. In the end, it would've been cool if the waiter took off a drink or knocked off a couple of bucks for the inconvenience and long wait of service. Overall, I'm bummed to say we won't be back. The was a very unfortunate experience. We sat outside, waited for menus, then waited for water and then waited a while to order. After ordering "Taylor" our waiter happens to mention there's a wedding going on. It would be a good fifteen minutes. 45 minutes later, a man who I assumed to be a manager, asked us if we were waiting long. After saying yes, he said he'd comp our drinks..... I was drinking WATER! We finally got our food after an hour. When we payed, Taylor blessed us and handed us a "God card". Rustic Table was like finding rare gem in the middle of the beautiful sierra mountains ! Breath taking view s. What made this spot even better is that it was a teen recovery program ! Being recovering addicts ourselves gave this place even more meaning ! I wish I would of gotten the young man's name that was our server he represented the program beautifully! He answered all our questions , a young man truly dedicated to his recovery! (Our visit was am of 10-28-22) and the food was outstanding along with a great cup of coffee !! Lovely place. Nice mission: the employees are all in recovery or looking to change their lives for the better. All the food was good...we had the grilled artichoke which was great and fancy burgers. Everything about the burgers were good, the toppings, the buns the french fries and salad, the only problem was the actual meat was hard like a hockey puck. I was leaving Sacramento at the same time my husband was leaving Reno, so I searched for somewhere roughly halfway in between... it was almost perfect! He arrived literally 2 minutes before me! There were a number of cars in the small parking lot, so I thought it was going to be busy- but there were only 2 other parties in the restaurant. I ordered the grilled roast beef sandwich, which was pretty good (they forgot to add the horseradish sauce, which was the whole reason I ordered that sandwich, but it was easily remedied), and the sweet potato fries, which were fantastic. My husband ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich, which he liked as well. They had a nice looking coffee bar, which I would have loved to try but was too full from eating every bite of the food. The real charm of the restaurant was the staff. According to the server, apparently the restaurant is part of a Christian program to help people recovering from addiction histories and give them job skills. (Someone please reply to this post and correct me on the details if I got it wrong.) It's nice to support a program that is successfully helping people. I felt philanthropic spending my money there! And since the food was good, we will definitely be back again while making the Reno-Sac journey. At least to try the coffee. read more

We pulled over coming home from Reno when we saw a sign that said "food and lodge"! Well we were hungry and assumed some fast food place maybe. We found a very cute and scenic resturant with a warm and homey atmosphere with friendly staff. Service was a little long, but we got there around the lunch rush it appeared so I suppose theres no room to complain. The food waa warm, really good, and their hot chocolate may as well be really famous because I ALWAYS order hot chocolate at new places and it was AMAZING. Just a warning though. They don't say this and the server didnt know it, but they apperently put bacon in ALL of their soups. NO WARNING to vegans or those who cannot eat pork. read more

Wishing I could be giving them 5. Let me start off by complimenting their service and the taste and quality of their food. Unfortunately we came on a day where staffing was short and they did not receive their delivery if eggs. We walked in at 9ish hoping for breakfast but instead got hamburgers due to a shipment of missing eggs. The wait staff was very nice and apologetic about the 1+ hour wait we had to endure with 2 hungry road trip children and no food. The burgers we got were really tasty and the fries were some of the best I had. Also not good for kids, we had no high chair for our 8 month old, not that I expect everyone to carry a high chair but would have been better than holding a 24 pound butterball. So one star for the one hour wait and another for the missing eggs. read more

Pretty bad food this morning. Service was friendly but green. Ordered the omelet with tomatoes and avocado. Did not see a tomato until near the end and the avocado was really brown . Other order was the pancake breakfast with scrambled eggs. Pancakes were flat and slightly warm. Syrup was nice and cold though! Eggs were waaay overcooked. Ordered a side of fruit instead of has browns but this was mostly grapes and unripe cantaloupe. Coffee was good and it was pretty cheap. Reviews seemed generous. Nice location. read more

The food was fresh, coffee was amazing, ambience and service were also amazing. My parents and I all got breakfast. French toast was light and fluffy, pancakes were hot and freshly made, and my dads house potatoes were great (not greasy at all!). I really liked the tables and decor, made me feel lile I was in a cabin in a living room. The waiter didn't pressure us, was very friendly and even got me a to go cup for the rest of my coffee! What a beautiful and soulful experience. We put in an order to go but when arrived, we decided to stay and grab a table outside. We were taken care of like dine-in guests. Everyone enjoyed their food. Clam chowder was excellent and the brisket Mac and cheese was delicious. Ask about their story and what they do within their community. That alone was worth it. And one is the gentlemen sat to play the piano and sing. I loved this experience. Will be back to support and enjoy the food and atmosphere. read more

Great little restaurant right off of the 80. They're currently renovatong so had a limited menu, but still a nice little selection. My husband and I both had burgers, him the California and I the Fire. The server asked how we wanted them cooked and both were cooked perfectly to each specified doneness. Very generous portions, thick cut tomato, fresh lettuce. The fries were great as well. They cut the fries in house so it's as fresh as it gets and seasoned well. This is the second time my extended family has hit this place up during Covid after a snow weekend. Both times have been excellent as far as customer service, food quality, food prices, location/scenery, and outdoor/indoor seating! They have been so kind, accommodating, and understanding (both times, we've traveled with infants/toddlers too!). The burgers are a 10 out of 10 tons of flavor and very good sized got super full and im a good eater. The breakfast burrito was frickin excellentand my wife had french toast which was also super fire . All aroumd great experience for me and my wifes 12 year anniversary . Ended up staying 1 extra night cause the lodge was so cozy feeling and beautiful views from the lodge. The staff in the office of lodge were extremely friendly and helpfull as well. Comfty rooms good food and great views. This place is a true hidden gem we loved our 3 days here and sad to have to leave in the morning . I took a trip up to Reno and stoped off at this cozy restaurant I found via Yelp. It is a very clean and a refreshingly quaint place to enjoy lunch at. After looking at the meals online I decided on the fish tacos. I will say that I was thoroughly impressed with our meal, The tastes blended magically. We ordered the burger (huge portion) along with the tacos and the two tacos where plentiful. Big fillets of fish on a soft taco with melted cheese and tasty mangoes. So yummy! The waiter was very pleasant and helpful, after our compliments he mentioned that even their mayo is home made. I am a Chipotle Mayo lover and usually pare it with my fries. All in all It was nice to hear that they make fresh and from scratch meals and condiments, you could really appreciate the experience. read more

4.5 stars but I'll round up. Fate had us pull over to avoid the terrible traffic on the way to Donner. Found this place on yelp and decided to try it. Located right off the fwy and next to a cute little lodge. Everyone is friendly. This place is small/quaint and family friendly (changing tables in both bathrooms!). Great place to warm up and have a good meal. The meals are big for what they charge - very affordable and tasty. The kids' breakfast is 4.99 but enough to feed an adult. The silver dollar pancakes are about 6inches wide and comes with three which is a lot for a kid; their sausage is fat and juicy. The breakfast burrito was stacked and huge! Definitely one to share unless you are really hungry. The french toast was meh, flavorful but dry. Service was great considering there was one server at the time but there was a brunch rush (lodge guests and folks off the road like us) an hour layer and it got a little hectic. No cell signal but they have free wifi! Which is totally appreciated. Would definitely come back when we come through this way again. read more

Short review: this place is great. Go here. Long review: a random find on the road back from North Lake, the Rustic Table will definitely be a regular stop from now on. My wife is a big fan of all day breakfast and the biscuits and gravy were very tasty. My fish tacos were perfectly cooked with a generous portion of fish and well spiced mango salsa (if you're not into spicy, I'd ask for it on the side). It was a nice day so we enjoyed the large patio. The view is beautiful and overlooks the newly constructed event center. Definitely a place I'd like to come back to for a wedding or retreat. For the quality of the food, service and environment, the price is outstanding. The menu ranges from $10-20 per person with most dishes on the lower end. I assume this means they are more interested in building a customer base than just attracting one-time tourists and I very much appreciate that. Go here. Eat. Maybe even spend the night at the hotel. We decided to check this place out since it was close to our Airbnb. First impression upon walking in was a how homey the atmosphere was. It seemed like I walked into someone's colonial style living room. The waiter was able to accommodate our group of 9 pretty quickly. After putting in our order, this is where things took a loonng turn. It took almost two hours for the waiter to bring out our order. The waiter must have saw our desperate and hungry expressions because he apologized and offered us free drinks on the house. Therefore the service of this restaurant from beginning to end was 100%. The only disappointing part was after waiting two hours for our dinner, the food itself wasn't satisfying. I got the Chipotle chicken sandwich and all I can say was that it was so spicy that you can't taste anything else. The chicken was a bit tough and the wheat bread was nothing special. The fries were good though. It had just the right amount of crisp and salt. We also got the clam chowder and that was pretty good. Our other friends got the squash soup and they said it was really tasty as well. The drink we got on the house was hot chocolate, and that's what I definitely recommend getting. It really hits the spot after a day of snowboarding. It's group and kid friendly. There is plenty of parking in front. The food itself is average, but there service here is superb. All and all this place is a good cheap place to go after you hit the slopes. read more
