Our first time Here, The atmosphere is really cool. We didn't come at a time when they were having live music, so we didn't get to experience that. But, the food was really good! I had the tamales Three ways, it was delicious... You can tell the tamales are fresh made... They're not your average tamales! They have a delicious corn bread like base with kernels of corn in it... Three different types of meat on top and great sauces! We also have tried the eggs deviled, and the double queso... The eggs were pretty good... The queso, it was amazing! I was surprised that it didn't come with tortilla chips, it came with their kettle chips. But it was very tasty. Excellent service, I highly recommend! One of the layout of the place is kind of nice and I like the big stage and how it's easy to see from all over the bar that's about where all the positives is place end for me. Parking was annoying good. There's nothing on the street around the area available, you can pay $10 to the valet you can go Park in a garage somewhere that's not really clear where it is and they will validate your parking. Service was horrible it took anywhere between 20 to 40 minutes between seeing our waiter. I had the onion strings which were okay, but since the sauce was on the bottom and there was nowhere near enough sauce for all of the onions that just seems silly. when the band finally did take the stage I wasn't very impressed with the music and it was pretty loud for how empty the bar had become by that point. I imagine this can be a decent place if you come prepared i.e wear shorts and a t-shirt since it's open air. However it's not a place I plan to frequent. read more

Pro tip: They don't have a parking lot there, you can valet park for $10 OR you can park in Avenida South Parking Garage and walk over (not far at all). Make sure you take your parking ticket with you and get it validated at the door on the way out of Rustic. Then you have 15 mins to exit the garage. Make sure you SCAN the validated ticket, if you insert it, it will make you pay. read more

The area itself is very well decorated and spacious. Their prices are good and you can't beat a $3 margarita during their daily happy hour. When I went, the service was very slow and disorganized. I imagine it was because there were a ton of people, but we waited over 20 minutes for a drink, recieved the drink, ordered another one simultaneously, and didn't recieve it for half an hour. There was also a blunder with the check, but the server was very kind and did his best to correct it. The establishment needs to hire more servers to accommodate during peak hours. read more

I love the message the Rustic is giving off. They are super supportive of local craft breweries with a decent selection of some of the city's most popular beer choices available on tap from 8th Wonder, Eureka Heights, Karbach, St. Arnold, buffalo bayou, etc. They also have bottled options if none of the breweries above tickle your fancy. When we initially arrived, I got typical bar vibes, however, I couldn't help but notice the large space this establishment has to offer. It literally has seating inside, outside, partial inside AND outside and a massive stage as well, the layout is truly thought through and seems like it accommodates a LOT of people comfortably which is much appreciated! I ended up ordering the Texas Cheesesteak with a draft of Eureka Heights Buckle Bunny and my god was it good... I wasn't even expecting it to be so damn good but what a combo! I highly recommend this bar/eatery, this place is not the basic bar you constantly run into all around Houston. Such a great spot, especially after a game or event downtown! I'd been eyeing this one for a while but found the perfect time to check it out after a Rockets game! Short walk over and we were placed on a waiting list for a table! The place is huge, outdoor/indoor rustic decor with a stage for live music. 2 bars to choose from while you wait. Good amount of TVs to watch the Stro's during their World Series battle. Once seated our service was great! Menu with something for everyone! I had a veggie burger with grilled zucchini and I couldn't get enough! The zucchini was wonderful, although they could scale back on the salt a bit. My burger was delicious and the hubs got the double cheese queso! Can't go wrong there! Treated our taste buds with a sweet treat for my birthday and had the s'more icebox cake (I made that name up, bc I can't remember what it was called) and it was beautiful!!! So sweet! But so good! Met a few friends here for happy hour; tried the frozen rose and love street on tap. Artichoke appetizer was really yummy as well as the fried onion rings. I took a friend out that was visiting from out of town for a conference this is a really nice place you could see the kitchen seating was good I also like the fact that it had a stage area but they weren't playing music but I'm sure on some nights that they probably have live music everything is locally grown they say so that is a plus I ordered the tacos of the day which were vegetarian and it was good the food was fresh my waiter was really nice he took selfie's of my friend and I he really didn't have to do that. Downtown locations have pros and cons, but the Rustic really picked a great location. It is right off Polk street and does not require to travel deep into downtown. The only parking that is available is valet or street parking. Be prepared to walk if visiting on the weekend. I really like the layout of the place because it is so open and spacious. The inside is well put together and when you hit the outside patio that is where the fun begins. There is a big stage for performs, which I will be returning to experience that. The menu is a little different from what I was used too, but nonetheless the selections I made where amazing. I wanted to play it safe, so I order the spicy chicken melt and chorizo empanadas. Neither dish disappointed. My niece and I ordered off the lunch menu, but the food portions were so hefty that we could have shared a plate and been satisfied. (That is never a bad thing to have leftovers) The empanadas were served with queso, which I absolutely loved. Service was nice. I did not visit on a busy occasion, so I cannot provide input how it is on a busy day. I am sure it is great. Overall I will be returning to experience brunch and be back with an update. read more

I actually very much enjoyed the food and the music and the service in the restaurant, but your valet parking service employees were incredibly rude to us. We arrived early and were told we could park in the lot for free, but when we left, a very rude employee from Texas Lone Star Valet named Yohan yelled at us and he and his employees stood in front of our car and refused to let us leave until we gave him our credit card. It was unprofessional and intimidating and left a very sour taste in our mouth for the whole evening. Even with changes for COVID, they could use some tweaks. We had a great waitress, but at 25% capacity and more staff than patrons, we still waited almost 25 minutes for our second beer. Super fancy margarita was yukky, empanadas overly salted and too crispy. Grilled artichoke was fantastic. As far as masks- watching the staff repeatedly touch their face masks, pulling them away from their mouth to speak to each other or wearing it under their nose- to include most of the chefs, makes you wonder 'why even bother?' Watching the misuse and misapplication of mask wearing was worse than if they hadn't been wearing the masks. Also, once the live music started, no one turned off the music already playing. Just went to The Rustic for my husband's work Christmas party. What a wonderful venue. Loved the outdoor indoor vibe. We were able to stand around and have a cocktail hour visiting and then sit at two large community tables to eat our family style dinner. The food was OUTSTANDING and I need to share I don't eat meat I had the tamale appetizer, salad with grapes and pecans, orecchiette mac and cheese style and broccoli. Everything was prepared well and was memorable. Loved the amazing band and the service was pleasant and did a great job. I was too full and visiting and drinking during desert time but I am certain that desert there is wonderful. Bravo to the chef that put together the menu and to the staff that make that kitchen work. Went out today to see our friend sing and have a good day at The Rustic - Houston. Our waitress was, at no point, what could be considered friendly. She was downright rude, at certain points. Our table, though small, was never bussed...we ended up moving our dishes and glasses to the table behind us and then it got cleared. This was from 4-6 pm and she was not busy with multiple tables. When she came to bring the check, we asked that she separate it and she asked if we could tell her what we all had, which my friend explained was not our job. We accepted one ticket and, in the end, tipped her very poorly for her lack of work...mind you, we did not leave her change or anything insulting. She came back to the table and deposited our tip, confronting us and calling us rude, telling us that she had worked since 8 am and she was, basically, not at fault for her poor service. I have never, in my life, seen such unprofessionalism. I very nicely explained that the way she was handling the situation was EXTREMELY unprofessional and she, as someone in the service industry, should never come to the table and confront customers about a tip. I have wanted to come to The Rustic for years and this is the first opportunity I've had to do so. I highly doubt that we will be back. read more
