Which really makes a difference on flavor. I never knew this extremely old and historic building could be so exceptionally clean. It looks (and smells) great. And is constantly busy, yet I never have to wait long for my order. They make their own Garlic & Herb bread, and Mom's authentic potato salad. I am craving that potato salad right now! My husband was thrilled to get a real Malt milkshake. And jalapeño fries loaded with their original jalapeño cheese spread, pickled jalapeños, green onions and sour cream. On another visit I had steak tacos at Shandy's that were stuffed with flavorful tender beef, and plenty of yummy extras, including Shandy's original cilantro lime dressing. Stopped in, the deli counter is in the back left of the gas station. Everyone at the gas station was friendly btw. That's always assuring, especially as a woman traveling alone. I'm an herbivore. Black bean burger was a solid option but I was in the mood for a sandwich. I asked if I could trouble them for a toasted veggie sandwich. They delivered! I didn't catch the woman's name behind the grill, but she was very willing and accommodating. She didn't slap together a boring "lettuce tomato cheese onion" dry veggie sandwich. She put in some work for me and really doctored it up. Toasted it with cheese how I like, avocado, sautéed veggies, the whole nine! Now ~that~ is a veggie sandwich. I really appreciated it.
