1 Star - Extremely Unprofessional My niece's quinceañera was booked at this venue more than a year in advance. Just 4 days before the event, we were told that our reservation was being canceled because the venue had overbooked. After a year of planning, this was devastating and caused unnecessary stress for our entire family. Fortunately, we found an even better venue, and the celebration turned out beautifully. We reserved the Commerce venue a year in advance, and recently received an email that R&C was shutting down and cancelled our event. We were told that they will not be able to refund us our money so we filed a dispute through our credit card company. I feel badly for the families who paid cash for their events and don't have any recourse unless they file through small claims court. Even if they get a judgement, they may not be able to collect. My fiancé and I booked this venue for our wedding on May 2026 and we locked in the date of Sept 25th, 2027. Literally about 2-3 weeks later I decided to look at their reviews and to my surprise, nothing but bad reviews. Some seeming a bit exaggerated and some looked believable. Giving them the benefit of a doubt, we paid no mind to these reviews. Shortly after, we saw a post (IG) about the El Monte venue were The Rustic and Chic were operating without a license and had been canceling people while still booking others for a venue that wasn't available. My fiancé and I began to panic. But again, we gave them the benefit of a doubt. About a couple of days later, Sandra posted a story stating that they would continue to provide their service for their Commerce and other locations despite what was going on with the El Monte Site. That gave my fiancé and I some comfort but we still had some concerns. Fast forward to August 4th, 2026, my fiancé received an email from The Rustic and Chic stating that they were cancelling All events and all their venues and that unfortunately there was nothing they can do and that they couldn't comment any further. I booked with Rustic & Chic Inc. for my daughter's quinceañera in the City of Commerce for May 23, 2026. We booked 9 months in advance, we paid in full the day we booked. Just five days before the event on May 18th the owner, Sandra Mendez, cancelled. I give her business a negative one hundred. From that moment on, she gave excuse after excuse -- none of them consistent or truthful.First she claimed she "accidentally double‑booked" with a family from out of town. Then she said she didn't know about the other event until that days. She does this for a living mistakes like this don't happen! She insisted she had a "partnerships" with Double Tree in Rosemead and advised me to meet with "LUZ". But when I met with DoubleTree staff, not LUZ they were surprised by her claim of being partners. Staff at Double Tree, declined to assist us, making situation suspicious. It was clear Sandra was offering venues she had no legitimate agreement with, misleading families who trusted her. Because of these red flags, we backed out of any "alternative venue" she offered. Claimed she was paying Double Tree 8 thousand dollars for the even, offering no compensation for her cancellation. We had purchased all our liquor for our event, she wanted me to return it to Costco,,,, liquor cannot be returned. Since then, Sandra has ignored all communication and has NOT reimbursed us, even though the event never took place. It has now been over a month with no refund. This business is scamming families, taking money for events they cannot or do not intend to deliver. The Rustic & Chic Inc. is unprofessional, dishonest, and does not belong in any community. Families deserve honesty and reliability, not false promises and financial loss. I contracted with this company for my daughter's Quinceañera and paid $15,450 toward our event. After signing the contract, we were informed that the original venue would no longer be available and were asked to move to a different location. In an effort to save my daughter's special day, I agreed to the change and signed an amendment relocating the event to the DoubleTree. Shortly afterward, the company informed me in writing that, due to financial challenges, they could no longer proceed with the DoubleTree partnership. They then offered yet another venue change to a different location and date. At that point, I had already accommodated one venue change and no longer had confidence that the agreed-upon arrangements would be honored. I requested a refund based on the company's inability to provide the venue identified in our amended agreement. My refund request was denied. Throughout this process, I have had to deal with significant stress, uncertainty, and last-minute changes while trying to plan one of the most important events in my daughter's life. My advice to families considering this company is to carefully review all contracts, amendments, and payment terms, and to ensure you understand your options should venue changes occur. Brides beware! Super disappointing. I saw their promo online and how they promoted monthly payments. There were even so kind to offer me free catering since I wouldn't have that many people there. Upon speaking to them everything went fine. Until they sent the invoice. The ceremony plus Venue would've been $6k and some change. But if I wanted monthly payments it was going to be 10k? That's 4k extra than originally quoted. How is that budget friendly? I understand having to charge interest and stuff but don't promote that you're budget friendly when you're going to charge 4k extra for making it affordable for other people. I would give a negative 1 star if I could. I booked two events with The Rustic & Chic Co. (Rustic Rentals Company LLC) and paid a total of $8,000. I was told at the time of booking that I would have flexibility with payments, including the ability to move funds between events if needed. Despite making consistent payments, my event date was placed on hold and eventually released even though the conditions outlined in the contract for doing so were not met. When I tried to resolve the issue, I made multiple attempts to contact the business through email, text, and Instagram but received little to no response. When I was finally contacted, the interaction was unprofessional. During a phone call, Sandra Mendez raised her voice and stated that she had stepped away from the husbands hospital room, where she said her husband was dying of cancer, to call me. The conversation did not result in any resolution, and I was told I would receive a follow-up, which never happened. I later learned that my event date had been rebooked, but only after repeatedly trying to get a clear answer. In the last email I received, they offered an alternative venue, the Ramada by Wyndham South El Monte, which is permanently closed. Despite multiple good-faith efforts to resolve this matter and request a refund, my $8,000 has been retained and my communications have gone unanswered. When visiting another venue, I came across other individuals who stated they experienced similar issues with canceled events and difficulty obtaining refunds from The Rustic & Chic. I also became aware that the venue was discussed in a May 2025 City of South El Monte public hearing regarding its Conditional Use Permit (CUP), which was appealed. This raised concerns about the venue's ability to legally operate while continuing to accept payments from customers, including myself. I booked my daughter's quinceañera 10 months in advance, only to be told 2 weeks before that our El Monte venue was no longer available. We were offered to relocate our event. While we had no real choice at that point, the venue was not comparable to what we originally contracted for, and we were told no refund would be issued. We also had to pay extra for bar service since only a cash bar was offered at the new location. This was especially frustrating because our original contract included bartending services, which we paid for. Per Sandra's words she was already "losing money" by relocating us. We were told this additional cost could not be covered, even though the relocation was not our decision. Based on our experience, I would not trust Rustic & Chic with an important event. The stress placed on our family was overwhelming. Planning a quinceañera takes months of time, savings, and emotional investment, and having everything jeopardized just two weeks before the event was extremely difficult. The most upsetting part of all this is that this does not appear to be an isolated incident. Based on other experiences shared by families, Sandra seems to have a pattern of cancelling or changing events at her convenience, with little regard for the time, money, and emotional investment families put into their celebrations. The decor team did a great job along with their guest service team but overall, The Rustic & Chic is not trustworthy. I booked with this company back in 2021 and, thankfully, was able to put things on hold before losing more money. From the start, I should've trusted my gut. To even see the venue, we had to pay a deposit -- otherwise, we wouldn't be allowed to come by. When we did, the owner put on quite the performance, selling a dream about "working around your budget" and "handling all the stress for you." She even said she didn't know how she was in business because she's such a bad salesperson -- that should've been my first red flag. Once we received the invoice and saw all the absurd add-ons (like a $500 "restroom fee in case someone clogged it"), I knew something was off. We stepped away and were told our deposit would stay on file indefinitely and could be used toward rentals later on. Every time I tried to use that deposit for rentals, I was told they were "fully booked." Most recently, while planning my baby's 1st birthday, I reached out two months in advance through Instagram. The responses I got were inconsistent, unhelpful, and completely unprofessional. When I asked for a phone call, I was told they couldn't call me -- but I could call them tomorrow. I tried calling multiple times with no luck. After that, I started reading other reviews and realized this pattern has been happening for years -- I wish I had done that sooner. I've since posted my experience anywhere that allows reviews because people deserve to know what they're getting into. I recently attended an event that the rustic team coordinated, it's called cocktails and details basically gives us the guests a chance to ask questions, check out different vendors they might have and everything ran so smoothly. They were professional, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. I've had the chance to see how the team work behind the scenes, and it honestly deserves recognition I know based on peoples personal experiences and reading the comments that people have mixed feelings on this company. But me personally I like to come check things out for myself and make my own decision based on what I experienced. The venue was decorated beautifully and our day of coordinator Dylan was AMAZING! he made the day so much easier. They did a really great job at that. However, we did have issues. Reviews are correct about communication being terrible. Once they took our deposit, we would have to wait days or even longer for response after multiple attempts on our part. At one point, they only responded to us after my husband refused to make the monthly payment since they would not call us back. was this annoying? yes but somewhat understandable. the big issue was the food. DO NOT CATER WITH THEM! I repeat DO NOT CATER WITH THEM! Idk if its just a vendor but our contract was signed with the The Rustic and Chic Co. so it's on them. For context, we paid for food for 150 people and we only had 120-130 people at our wedding. We chose to do pasta and salad because I'm a picky eater and we figured it would be filling for our guests. Wrong. Not everyone was able to eat and the people that did eat were served a pasta portion that was smaller than the palm of my hand (and I have tiny hands). As soon as I was served my plate, I was immediately mortified. I don't understand how anyone thought that was an appropriate portion to serve to anyone. I wish I took a picture it was so bad. I received a portion smaller than when we did at the tasting! (I swear I'n not even exaggerating). On top of that, people found hair and plastic in the pasta (including the groom). We ended up having to order 25 pizzas because not everyone ate and the people that did eat were still hungry (understandably). They offered to pay for the pizza's but ONLY for the people that didn't get to eat. It was honestly very embarrassing and ghetto. It was our job to feed our guest for coming to celebrate us. its the bare minimum and we made sure to pay for more food than was needed to ensure everyone ate and they dropped the ball BAD. You're looking for a venue on a budget, this can be a good option, but just don't get the food. (Also, something to consider they have an F rating on the Better Business Bureau.) read more

This venue is a complete disaster. From the start, there was confusion with the booking dates in July. On the day of the Sweet 16, the food went bad, the Maruchan station wasn't even fully set up (no condiments), and micheladas were only served for about an hour. The designated contact people we signed up were ignored and the photo booth opened late. Then the party was suddenly shut down, supposedly because the band was "too loud." That was a lie. It was actually due to the venue not having the proper permits, which local authorities confirmed. The owner, SANDRA, had known about this issue since February and still chose to take money and ruin someone's once-in-a-lifetime event.
