It's amazing how much work goes into it, and how complicated it is, and I'm sure everything we saw and were told is only the tip of the iceberg. Our guide Steve was as great a guide as you could ask for. He was friendly, enthusiastic, and informative, and oh, did I mention? He's one of the OGs who started WeldWerks 11 years ago! Besides the tour itself, which alone made the whole experience worth it, we were treated to samples of recent beer, an in-progress taste of Flipped Turned Upside Down (which I absolutely plan to get once the final product hits), fresh-from-the-tank Juicy Bits, and a grand finale flight of hoppy beers that showcase WeldWerks' variety. We also got take as many beer labels from a table as we wanted, and a got a 15% off for today only on purchases from the taproom (a bought another flight, a beer to go, and a sticker). If you missed out on this, don't worry, because WeldWerks is doing a few more tours this year, each with a different theme--today's was "Hops & Hazies". The next will be classic beers like lagers, and I believe the remaining two will be based around barrel-aged beers, and sours. Check it out on Facebook's Events tab. I thought this experience paid for itself several times. P.S.: Steve at the end was discussing things with us, and he happened to mention The Shining, as there is a mural painted on the wall in honor of it in the barrel room, and suddenly the power went out. I told him I will now call the Scarlet Static red ale "Redrum".

The burger was juicy, flavorful, and exactly what you want when a cheeseburger craving hits. The side salad was fresh and I especially loved the vinaigrette--simple but really flavorful. And the fries were crispy and delicious, made even better with the aioli for dipping. Because fries + aioli is always a winning combination. Great food, solid portions, and plenty of flavor. I'd definitely come back!

I slept about 4 hours the night before to make it early for sunrise. To say that a few tasty beers were what the doctor ordered would be the understatement of the century! None of this matters, of course, to the good folks at Rocky Cut Brewing Company. This is off the main drag of Estes in an unassuming strip plaza. Humble vibes inside, a simple U-shaped bar top with seating all around, a few smaller tables, a community table, and a large patio with mostly picnic table seating. If you're lucky, snag a stool right along the Big Thompson River! Though, I recommend they fix the wooden placeholders for beers, they're leaning on the wrong side of history, we don't want any full glasses of beer reaching an unnecessary demise! Interference IPA * American IPA * 6.7% * 16oz ($7) From their website: "Climbing the Interference Boulder in Rocky Mountain National Park requires strength and power. This Colorado IPA showcases the power of hops with an intense blend forging citrus aromas with a pine forward finish. Featured ingredients: Cascade, El Dorado, Mosaic, Chinook, & Simcoe hops * Recommended adventure: hiking Black Lake, climbing the Twin Owls, skiing upper Hidden Valley." A perfectly apt description. I would summarize this beer just as they did, focusing on hops, citrus, and pine. Absolutely delicious, a memorable IPA in recent memory. I liked it so much I ordered it again and it tasted just as delicious the second time down! They also had a food truck outside, so safe to assume they do this often. Would love to try more of their beers during my next visit. Rock Cut, I see you!

The core original beers are good, but not much new is happening at Rock Cut. Why mess with success, I guess? Because it would probably piss off the folks that were trying to change the paradigm when they started, that's why.

We sampled a beer flight with four beers and also ordered a margarita. One of the bartenders was fantastic. She took the time to ask what flavors I liked, recommended a different liquor for my margarita, and customized it to better match my taste. It turned out great, and I really appreciated the extra effort. The male bartender was friendly, but I was a little disappointed when I asked if they could make an espresso martini. He said they didn't have the ingredients, even though they had another coffee-based cocktail on the menu. It would have been nice if he had suggested a creative alternative using the cold brew or whatever they had available. Not a big deal, just a missed opportunity. They don't appear to serve food themselves, but there was a food truck parked outside when we visited, which was a nice bonus. Overall, we had a great experience. The atmosphere was fun, the drinks were good, it's dog-friendly, and we'd definitely stop by again the next time we're in Estes Park.

There's an outdoor garden with plenty of shade. There's indoor sitting as well if you prefer. The service was excellent! The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and let us sample a few beers before we made our selection. We were really in the groove. Enjoying our carefully selected beers, exhausted and hungry, we anxiously awaited our food selection. We decided that we would share a hand tossed, oven fried pizza, ( well that's the image we had in our imaginations). I was already planning on what to drink next, since my first yummy beer was crunching my thirst and hunger at the same time. And then it happened. Our pizza arrived. Right away we could tell it was a frozen pizza, but not the new fancy kinda frozen pizza, you know the ones that are, "not too bad for a frozen pizza", pizza. This was more like, I'm in middle school and, "this is all that's left in the fridge", kinda of frozen pizza. The pizza was so bad that we didn't finish it. The salt and bad sauce ruined the taste of the beers. And my anticipated second beer evaporated into a memory
