Roosters and Chickens are part of the party at Crabtree Brewing!

This is All around an awesome place. The beer is good and the atmosphere is wonderful. They have a zen garden, pet chickens and a rooster, fire pit, and excellent games to play. The staff are also very welcoming! What more could you ask for?!

Over the last few years I've been super lucky to travel for work. So when I had the opportunity to attend a library meeting in Greeley, I immediately searched to find how close Crabtree was from the meeting location. One block. Well, don't twist my arm, universe! I poked my head in early during the afternoon, but there were already a few people holding down some tables. The space at Crabtree is beautiful! The bar is in the middle of a large room surrounded by low and high top tables. I spotted a gorgeous little patio as well! Many signs adorn the walls as well as bright banners hanging from the ceiling. I shimmied up to the bar and ordered a pint of their Berliner Weisse to start. Holy crap, this is a damn fine beer! Not too sour, but just enough to make you pucker! I couldn't head back to Denver without trying a few more brews, so I sampled three tasters: the ESB (which they had literally just tapped), the Dearfield Ale, and the Serenity Amber Ale. I was expecting to be madly in love with the ESB out of the three, but the Dearfield Ale stole my heart! This blonde ale has a hint of strawberry that is so super refreshing, I could drink it all day. (And I really want to!) The ESB was very delicious, as was the Serenity. Now that I've finally made it to Crabtree and sampled a few brews, I can easily say they are one of my new favorite breweries from "up north." Awesome space coupled with great service and friendly locals, I will definitely be stopping back at Crabtree soon!

Of the three breweries we visited on our trip to Greeley, this was my favorite. It was located a bit off of the beaten path (from my perspective), but sometimes that just means easier parking. It is a nice, big, open space, and the both the people working here, and the regular customers were good folks. They brew a lot of different beers here, and I tasted most of what they had on tap this day. Almost everything was rather good. However, the one that blew my socks off, and made me order another pint, was the Dearfield Ale. I am a sucker for good fruity beers, and this is by far one of the best I have had in recent history. A blonde ale brewed with strawberries (4.8% ABV and just over 11 IBU's) may sound simple and even a bit boring, but this beer is outstanding in the flavor department. Greeley should be proud to have such a fine brewery.

    The awesomeness of Crabtree Brewing!

Crabtree Brewing is one of the best reasons to visit Greely, CO. For a flight of their beers you can check off five from their list. Every one of my choices were outstanding! In fact, the beer I actually left with (via a growler) wasn't even in my first five choices. Crabtree's Berliner Weisse Ale is amazing. Only after tasting it did I focus in on the fact that it is an award winning beer. Other beers that have won awards are their Oatmeal Stout and Black IPA. But it's the lighter side I enjoy most and abosultely loved the Head Turner Blonde Ale, the Serenity Amber (6.1% ABV) and the Golden 8 (9% ABV). You can't say this place doesn't have a sense of humour when they dub their ESB variety as being "Extra Sexy Bartender," lol. Finally, the people here couldn't be more courteous, friendly and helpful and the building is amazing. Check the bar top made of inlayed grains...all hand done by the owner(s). Oh, and there's an outside bier garden in the back and a master brewer's tasting room inside. They have it all here!

The place is pretty big. I enjoyed my Oatmeal Stout. I also tried the Ginger Bee, but wasn't a fan. The customer service was great. I also enjoyed seeing two pups in there. Always nice to get some dog lovin'. Took a glass home as a souvenir. A good brewery to visit if you're in the area.

This is our go-to place to get beer! I've personally know the Crabtrees for almost 20 years, even before they started brewing beer. Once Jeff started brewing, however, I instantly saw the passion he had for his craft! Now that passion shines right through in the beer he produces! I've always been treated absolutely wonderful at the brewery, and so has everyone else I have seen! Whenever we have out of town visitors, we are sure to make at least one stop at the brewery; but many times we end up making several stops because our guests love it so much! This family-owned brewery is the best around, and I'm so proud of my good friends, the Crabtrees! I convince a lot of people to go to the brewery, and every one of them ends up being glad I did! The new line of seltzers is awesome, and out does everything on the commercial market! If you're looking for great adult beverages, a fun and cozy atmosphere, and great people, I highly recommend Crabtree Brewing Company!

    Beer and Games....can't beat that!!

The Oatmeal Stout is one of the best I have ever had, a big and slightly sweet malt with a great hop balance.

We sat for awhile and played with the resident black cat, Midnight, as well. I could see stopping back by on a future visit to Greeley.

I got a…read morevariety of different beers here and by the time the beer experience with this brewery was finished Steve and I tried about five different beers of theirs and it gave us a really good idea what kind of quality to expect from this particular brewery. The first beer that I had was the Honey Helles. I do love Helles Lagers and I do especially like it when honey is an ingredient for beer. This was a good example of balancing that beer style and having the presence of honey in the flavor profile. Other things for your taste buds to look for is grainy and earthiness upon your tongue. Definitely a nice beer for the summer but in my case any season is good to have this one. After that we had the Chill Pill Bavarian Style Pilsner. Another good and solid beer from this brewery. Flavor features with this pilsner is saltiness and breadiness. Tasting the bready was an extra plus as we do love a beer that has breadiness at work for flavors. Moving on from that we had the Perfect Patio Porter. Once again... a very solidly made beer that was very good. Flavors to look for on this porter is coffee, vanilla, chocolate and a very nice mellowness to this dark beer. We drifted to red ales after the porter and got the Red Fox Irish Red Ale. This had very pleasant notes of caramel, maltiness , sweet and clean aftertaste to this very well balanced beer. Our final one was one that was still good but felt like it was our least favorite and that was the Fattyboogler, a Scottish Ale with maltiness, sweet and clean flavor features and a smooth body. I am very picky with Scottish Ales so that is part of what was at play here but also it just wasn't one of their beers that hit us on the same level as the others but only by a slim margin. Greeley is really getting a nice brewery scene these days and Rule105 Brewing is a stop that should be made to see what craft beers the city has to offer if you are out and about checking out breweries and doing a tour of them.

I showed up asking to taste a porter that sounded good on the website. The guy at the bar said, "Oh, we haven't had that one in months." Seems like updating a website to accurately show what you've got on tap shouldn't be that difficult. Another odd thing is that they routinely run out of beers on tap, so your only option is to get it in a can. That's what my wife had to do with her Java Good Day this time. This happened to me last time with my Cool Boomer. I mean, I get it, but beer just tastes better from the tap. Both of our beers were fine, but neither blew us away. Only a few other people were in on a Saturday afternoon, which was surprising considering the number of people in the area. It's a real laid back vibe, which I can appreciate, but kind of a sad overall atmosphere. Not sure we'll be in a big rush to give them another try.
