I loved this place. I try to stop in every time I'm in town. Usually bringing 8-10 friends with me. This trip I came and met a friend here. After seeing the two women behind the counter roll their eyes at my friend when she asked them to restock the empty bottle that had run out, I don't think I will return. Such a great place, too bad for the catty, disrespectful attitude by the women running the place. read more

I have been to the Ruby Tap many times but this time I noticed a decline in service. We ordered some cheese and other items from the menu and were enjoying our wine and snacking. We both needed refills on our wines so we left our phones on the table and our purses on the chairs. We we came back our table was cleared. The person who did it was apologetic and said what can I get you to replace, we felt put on the spot and felt like he should have just brought us something without us having to ask. Also my friend wanted to try a wine that only had the "sample" left for tasting and she told the attendant and there was nothing she could do, she had to take the "sample" or not any until the bottle was empty... It is the small things that matter and leave you feeling warm and happy or cheated from your experience. read more

Only one non five star review at this point...and it came from a guy who does not want to pour his own wine??? That is the whole purpose of the place! The decor is very hip - a NYC vibe in a comfortable, cozy, and relaxing location in Tosa Village. As soon as you sit down, you will find it hard to leave as the staff is absolutely wonderful! Sarah, one of the owners, was so helpful explaining how everything works, suggesting wines to try, and even pairing meat and cheeses with our selections. With the ability to choose from 1.5, 3, or 6 oz pours, you can try many different wines in a sitting and then even buy your favorite bottle to take home! As a city boy, living in Washington DC for the past 10 years, I must say The Ruby Tap has absolutely done a fantastic job with their business - I expect great success as they continue to serve the lucky patrons who go. Don't miss this place as it is unique, fun, and will leave you wondering why you did not come up with the same idea! read more

I had a wonderful dream recently... In this dream I walked in a beautifully decorated room. On the wall was a huge machine where I could press a button and wine, all types of wine, would pour freely into my glass. In this room was also a bar area where the wine flowed from taps. And there was a cooler as well. Full of local beers and more wine. Mini bottles of wine. In this dream a friend and I sat on a couch next to a fire place and savored our wine. Games lay on the table in front of us. Cheese, truffle oil popcorn, and cheesecake were brought out. Greek gods fanned us and fed us olives. And then I woke up... And it was real. Well everything except the last part. But I was sitting in the Ruby Tap with one of my best friends saying "This place is amazing." Seriously, this is without a doubt one of my new favorite places in the Milwaukee area. The concept is so straight forward. I love that you can go up to the wine machine and choose between tasting, half glass, or full glass sizes. The staff was really friendly and helpful and were spot on in recommending two great white wines for me. I love that there are mini bites of food (cheese, charceturie, dessert) you can get here. They have cheesecake from Simma's and their truffle oil popcorn was awesome. There is really wine available for everyone- white, red, sweet, dry, those for connoisseurs and those for novices. The ambiance here is incredible. This place is decorated so cute, stylish, and comfy. With lights hanging from the ceiling, a fireplace in the back, and variety of places to sit, you will want to just relax and drink here for a few hours. At least I know I did...Loved it. Fabulous and unique, Ruby Tap is a much welcomed addition to the Mke and Tosa area! read more

Review Update - they charged me $10 to 'uncork a bottle of wine' screw this place. Never coming back

Great addition to downtown Tosa. Went here for the 1st time about a month ago to see what it was all about. I like the concept of being able to choose how much wine you want in your glass (S,M,L) and paying accordingly. The setting is nice with larger tables, couches, comfy chairs and a fireplace. All beers they serve are from WI and the staff is helpful to newcomers or people who push the button of the wine they want and fail to put the glass underneath the tap, I actually watched it happen to someone. They have a TV over the bar in case there's a game on too, but it doesn't take away from the ambiance of the place. read more

Tried Ruby Tap around the time they first opened and twice again in past years . It was just ok. Lots of wines on tap. You can choose the size of your pour. It's pretty expensive. But it's a way to try new wines without buying a whole bottle. They offer snacks for sale. Nothing too exciting. It's a place to stop for a drink before or after dinner or going out. read more

Never been to a self serve wine bar before. Walking up to the wine dispensing machines is cool. You can walk back and forth and decide which one you want and you get to pick how much you want too, just a taste or a full glass. This place is fun and interesting. A GREAT place to hang out and relax with some friends. If I could study and get work done while drinking, I would be here doing just that... Check this place out. Its different. It works. I will be back and will recommend it to anyone. read more

There is no place I'd rather drink wine! The customer service reminds you they're a local business, the wines are expertly chosen, and they have the perfect atmosphere for any wine night with a group of friends or for a romantic date. Plus the wine club is an awesome way to learn more about wine. read more

Love the concept of this. A wine lover my self this is a great way to explore different wines without having to break the budget/ or having to buy a full glass of wine. I echo the other reviewers comments - don't expect service. You have to write what you want to order and give it to the counter - there is pretty much nothing to eat here that is filling. - cheese comes with few crackers. (But for $2-3 you cant expect a lot either) - the wines are 100% markup though than listed price. So although you don't pay alot for each pour (1.5, 4, 6 oz) i felt kinda robbed after the scanned price for the wine bar codes cMe out 50-100% less than listed prices One tip if you want different cheese order then at different times. My friend ordered 3 types of chess than came with the same amount (maybe 4-5 crackers) that i got when ordering one cheese Olives were really good. But its not worth$5 It's a local business so i would promote supporting the business. Love the whole experience and the concept of it so although there was nothing much to eat i enjoyed my visit. Will come again read more

A very lovely place and a novel idea at that. Wine! On the walls! You start a tab, are given a glass, and can go perusing the wine wall and try a sip, half glass, or full glass of a bunch of different wines. It's nice because one can spend time reading the description, what the wine pairs with, and slowly agonize over which wines to sample. It takes away the awkward wine presentation by the server and pressure to make quick choices! Comfortable, wood/distressed decor. Wish there were more couches or lounge type of seating. The charcuterie and cheeses were quite delicious and truffle popcorn SO yummy! Will definitely be going back for more! read more

I waited months in high anticipation to visit Ruby Tap after my pregnancy an it was definitely worth the wait. From the selection, small plates, pleasant and knowledgable staff, and of course the warm inviting atmosphere , The Ruby Tap is a great addition to the growing Village of Wauwatosa. The cheese and meat plate selections were very reasonable and tasty. They also can special order wines too! Also, the owner was knowledgable, and you can tell her passion for wine. I can't wait to bring my husband down so he can fall I love with this place as well! We will definitely become regulars whenever we get a chance to get away. read more

LOVED it here!! Great for a relaxing night out with your girlfriends, where everyone can have what they have a taste for instead of all drinking the same type of wine. Only thing I would recommend to them is more seating-half of our party of 4 ended up standing because there was only a table with two chairs. read more

Decided to check this place out 12/2/2021. We weren't sure if there was a menu or what to expect. We were obviously unsure of how or what to order So we were staring up at the menu reading the drinks posted above the register. The woman at the register stared us down until we approached the register. We said "we would like to open a tab". She glared at us. After a few moments of awkward silence she flapped her arms at us and said "well?"She glared at us again. Finally she says "well what do you want white or red?" We shrugged it off and went to get some wine. Again we obviously hadn't done this before and she stormed over to me and ripped the card out of the machine and basically shouted at me that I had put it upside down. Honestly just felt embarassed she was yelling at us in front of everyone. While checking out she glared at us some more and said "well is there anyone else around the corner?" We said we didn't check but we thought so. We left and will not be coming back. I don't recommend this place. read more

The Ruby Tap is a great place to meet up with friends for a nice glass of wine. It's located in Tosa Village- it's easy to miss, but directly across the street is a public parking lot, so it's easy to pop in. There are probably a good twenty wines you can sample. The interior is simple, but the focus here is on the wine and all the enjoyment that comes with trying several different types. read more

First time going to Ruby Tap was last night. I used the fill your own cards. The first attempt I had to hit several buttons to make it work. Not sure if I received the right amount, I asked one of the employees who said she had didn't know. I'm standing next to the machine and ask her again Is this a 3 ounce pour? Did I do it right? She informed me again she has no idea what a 3 oz pour looks like and that I will be able to tell when I buy another glass and then we can compare. (Wha???). The wine was good. Second attempt was probably user error as the wine came pouring out before my glass was in position (note that this didn't happen the first time and there aren't directions posted). The wine came spilling out. I alerted them to my mess and the employee laughs and she tells me not to worry as it happens all the time! Still had to pay for a full glass of wine that I got maybe 2 ounces of. Wouldn't be upset if I wasn't alerted to the fact that this is a repeat issue with customers. read more

This is a real cool place! It's for exploring; you can buy as little as an 1.5 oz. pour from the machine (I usually choose 3 oz.). There is a total of 36 wines available by 3 different sizes; all major wine-producing countries are represented. The sausage, cheese, and desserts are finely selected. Oh, yeah: You can buy a bottle to go, too (at regular retail prices). read more

I've been here at least 6-8 times now. It's a great place to go for a casual glass of wine. I love to hit up the machines and choose what I like. The concept is great. The only issue is food. I agree with other reviewers that there need to be some more filling options. I like the nuts. Not so much a fan of the popcorn. Cheeses are good but the portions are somewhat small. (however, the prices aren't that high). I think they have a low-labor model so they need foods that are easy to prep and get out. I think the experience would be enhanced if they came up with some other food options. Overall, glad to have them in Tosa. Great place to go for a glass of wine, love it! read more

I absolutely love this place. Never heard of it prior to March 2016 but I'm glad my friend took me to enjoy the wine and tapas. I am now a regular. I love the vending machine concept of wine tasting. Very different. read more

Since this is really close to my house, I was so excited when I heard a wine bar would be opening in Tosa. As we were going on a double date in Bayview, we stopped here for a glass or two of wine. It's pretty pricey, but if you go for just one drink, it's not too bad. Definitely do NOT plan on going here for an "all nighter". read more

Love this little place in 'Tosa -- been here twice now for a glass or two before dinner reservations at neighboring Bartolottas. I love the card idea, the 'self serve' setup and the staff has been super friendly. I almost wish they had more wines to choose from! The last time we were there, it seemed like once I read all the descriptions (which need to be placed above the wine display, please, not below - my back ached from bending down to read the descriptions!) & finally decided on which to try first, it was an empty bottle...that happened twice in a row, and I had to go with my third choice. Which ultimately was fine, but a little frustrating....maybe just a bit more attention to how full/available the bottles are would be great. Otherwise, great space & atmosphere. We'll be back! read more

This place is awesome!!! Once you are there it is hard to leave. The food is great and the wine tastings are so much fun and so good! You just want to stay and talk for hours. Love the casual feeling!! read more

Tips is a great place to meet friends and unwind for a happy hour, or kick off a night on the town. The laid back atmosphere and rustic decor make you lose track of time and all your worries (I am sure the wine helps a little with that too). This is my wife's favorite spot in Tosa. read more

Yes! I love this place! I love the concept___the ability to try a bunch of different wines without having to buy a whole glass! awesome! I went here with a girlfriend on a Sat. afternoon and it was awesome and very intimate, think of a cozy log cabin up north somewhere, although they did report they get pretty packed, ie standing house after 5pm on most days. They report changing out their wines on tap quite frequently which is doubly exciting! more wines to try! While they don't have meals there, they do have snacks_such as your standard cheese and meat boards, popcorn, nuts, olives and some lil desserts to munch on while you drink (very much recommend the popcorn! yummmm!) I will definitely be going back here! Hopefully they'll have changed up the wines too! read more

Loved their cool set up and atmosphere. I would definitely come back. The only thing I would change is having a few more options on the food menu, but otherwise a fun place to meet friends and a nice selection of wine. read more

What an awesome place.. have been there several times and love the place. This is an excellent place to take people if they want to try wine and are not sure what they like. With so many choices .. and you choose the amount ... it is a sample paradise. (They also have a cooler with lots of local and interesting craft beers) They have some great snacks that pair well with the wine. Good variety and really focus on using other local products. The two sisters who run Ruby Tap and very nice and go out of their way to make you feel at home. It has quickly become on of my go to places... read more

This is a great hidden gem in Tosa. Love the concept of wine being poured from a tap. This place has daily specials. Casual with a nice atmosphere. They also have a number of wines that you can sample as well. Just start a tab and make sure to get a wine sample card. Each sample will cost between $2.50 - $5.00 depending on the wine. Great date spot or casual meet up for a drink. They also serve beer (micro and macro brews) as well!!!! Can't say enough about this place read more

I've been to The Ruby Tap on several occasions and every time it has been great. (4.5 stars) It is a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of wine options. The thing is, I don't drink wine but I still love this place. (I tend to get a beer or a cider.) The food that's offered at The Ruby Tap is good but it is just for noshing, not even really an appetizer size. Bonus: their espresso shots are only $1/shot! This is a great spot to get a drink or two, especially when summer when the doors open up onto a small patio. It's all about the chill atmosphere here. read more

I joined some friends for happy hour. This was a fun, vibrant place. Fantastic wine choices. The setting was great, so much nicer than Vino 100, a blocks over. My friends and I each a had a glass of wine and enjoyed the comfy seating area. I sum definitely return. I would like to try some of the meat and cheese plates. read more

The Ruby Tap - Wine Bars Near Me - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin

Expensive and not the cleanest. Much better places to go for a good glass of wine in the Milwaukee Metropolitan area. Couldn't get good service when we needed it and the server didn't know anything about wine........ in a wine bar. Go figure! read more

BY FAR the best wine bar in Milwaukee area. The selection and service separates them from the rest!!

Very cool environment, poor service. I'm not sure if it was one guy taking care of the whole place but I had to wait 10 minutes at the counter to get a glass. The employee seemed very annoyed that I was knocking asking gently if anyone was there. I called twice to get the phone ringing hopefully to get him out of the back room and there was no response. Great space, needs more employees read more

Love this new place! Affordable and approachable!

Poor service. Needed a wine glass. No acknowledgement from guy behind bar for 10 minutes. Then asked the other server that was wiping tables for a glass and she said to wait in line. NOT the response of great service. Will not come back. There are other places that appreciate their customers. read more

Visited Ruby Tap for the first time tonight with some coworkers and had a great time! (Because what isn't great about wine on tap?) Sampled some riesling and a variety of meats and cheeses, which were all delicious. Their prices are pretty reasonable and comparable to other restaurants. Definitely planning on returning to try some of their snacks and chocolate(!) dessert plate. Great place for date night, catching up with friends, or meeting for drinks after work. Would highly recommend! read more

Cute, unique, inviting, outdoor and a start to a fun evening. Some may say it's a little expensive but it's not the kind of place you hang out for others. It's a great place for a date night,a friend gathering, or a place to meet up before your evening plans. read more

This place is great. It's the perfect spot for a pre-dinner drink/appetizer or a post-dinner dessert. The experience was really fun, the staff was super friendly and the wine selection (and price selection) is pretty expansive. We tried a couple of the cheeses and charcuterie selections -- all of which were tasty. But the best snack we had was the garlic/rosemary marinated olives. Soooo good! I'll definitely be going back! read more
