Wife, daughter, and I are here in Rangeworthy visiting with old friends we knew from years ago in Lompoc, and have had a great time at the Rose and Crown. Yesterday was the 13th annual Beer Festival (an annual fund-raising event) at the Rose and Crown, where ales, beers, and ciders flowed freely, burgers and sausages were grilled, and music was made under clear blue skies in the rear garden. We spent four hours at the festival, during the afternoon, chatting with local characters and trying a variety of ciders and beers. It was a very good time for all. Then today, after helping with the clean-up in the back garden at the R&C, we booked a family table at the Pub and all got together for Sunday dinner. We had roast beef and roast pork dinners with steamed vegetables, potatoes, cheesy cauliflower, and Yorkshire pudding. I had a pint of stout with dinner and a wonderful bit of spotted dick for dessert. The food and service was impeccable; the setting is grand, and the entire experience has capped off a great visit to Gloucestershire.

Overcharged for two alcoholic beverages we did not order or even receive…read more As we were a table of 8, who had food and drinks I decided to pay half the bill and my friend pay the other half then we split the bill between the other members of the table when we got home to save the faff at the pub as I understand staff were busy and find splitting bills frustrating. Once I got home, I realised we had been overcharged for two drinks we did not order or recieve. I contacted the pub immediately to let them know. They responded and asked for my phone number and said they would call me. 5 days later they still hadn't called me so I sent them another message and they said they would call me that day but still didn't receive a call or message. I understand mistakes happen and I was happy for them to rectify the issue however I have now given up and will not be returning to this pub.

We noticed that the kitchen offers 'cheesecake of the day' and although I'm not usually a fan of cheesecake we decided to give it a go on the basis that if made every day the chef must be a bit of an expert. We weren't wrong. A perfectly proportioned slice of heaven in the form of Chocolate and Baileys cheesecake, perching on its gooey crunchy biscuitty base, with a hint of dark chocolate sauce and cream to pour over, arrived and was duly savoured. I had roast pork served with fresh veg, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese. We had a small starter of garlic and herb crusted hollumi cheese which was very nice. The meal came out in good time and was beautifully cooked and well presented. The staff are friendly and helpful and made sure that all was ok with our food. The roast lunches are priced at £12.95 which is a little steep and could probably do with being a couple of pounds cheaper. The dessert menu followed and although looked very nice and appetising we'd had enough and where feeling full. Puddings come in at £5.50 which is a reasonable cost for dessert so I wouldn't have had any issue paying for one should I have chosen one. I'd definitely go back there and I would recommend it to friends and family who want a tasty Sunday lunch in a very pleasant place to eat it in.
