When a full size band is in the main room, that room becomes excessively loud. Many people choose tommove to the Tree Room ( there are trees in the room). That room is a respite from the noise, but regretfully, it doesn't have many tables for guests to enjoy the food and libation. Rosie's has a nice outdoor patio where there are pub tables, a small stage that had Karaoke the evening we were there. The patio utilized large fans to fight the oppressive heat. Service was excellent. Bars were serving well made drinks. Ambiance is clean and pleasant. Rosie's is a good reception place.

On Sunday nights, from 7-10, The Jefferson Orleans North hosts The Pat Barberot Orchestra, which is a real big band. Not only that, but you can actually dance. Like...real dancing. Like the type of dancing that they did in the 40's and 50's where you actually hold someone close and move around the dance floor. I understand that the Jefferson Orleans has been holding these weekly dances since the 70's. My grandmother used to come here in the 80's. Also, and I just have to be honest, most of the people who actually go to dance are in their 70's, 80's and even 90's. And they are the most delightful people in the world and quickly make you realize that you are never too old for a spin around the dance floor. So, why do I like it here? Because when you are on the huge dance floor and listening to a real big band, you are transported to a different time. You're transported to a time when life was a bit simpler and the music was really good. Maybe you are thinking, "Well, that sounds good and all, but I don't know how to dance." Okay, well neither do I. I know the basic box step and a few small swing steps and that's about it. I'm not going to be winning any dancing contests any time soon. But I still have so much fun and all of the people who actually do know how to dance are always encouraging. The dancers at the Jefferson Orleans are so excited when younger people come in and I promised them that I would do my best to bring in new faces. So, that's where you come in. The 1930s fountain is stunning and the colonnade is lush right now with wisteria which gives the whole space a dreamy look. I worked a wedding reception here last night and the Arbor Room was decorated beautifully. The bride and groom loved everything about their wedding. While it wasn't a New Orleans-style wedding it was still loads of fun! (Of course in New Orleans we do almost everything different including our wedding receptions). Light rain reduced its use, but improved the shine of candlelight. High marks for exclusive food service vendor Pigeon Caterers. Though I have no idea how much they charge for the buffet spread, memorable dishes included shrimp and grits, gouda mashed potatoes, and crawfish etouffe. Bananas Foster were a cool effect, but ended up too soupy for excellence. Reasonable bar selection of mid-level wines and spirits with simple mixed drinks only (no sazaracs, French 75s, or gin fizzes at this wedding) - again, don't know what our friends sprung for. The yoga instructor is calming; it makes for a peaceful begining. The goats are so adorable and there were babies in the spring, not more than maybe 8 lbs or so. I think this is one of the best experiences anyone can do. They have you set up outside, on your yoga mats (don't forget to bring a mat - they supply thin ones in case you forget). and there is a small fence around your yoga group so the goats cant get out. The group is maybe 10 or 12 people. If it rains, they have a tent set up so the yoga goes on, rain or shine. And you just a nice, hour long relaxing time in this beautifully, tranquil garden. After you finish the best yoga in the city, they offer vegan empanadas as a nice snack and a baseball hat with the Paradigm Gardens logo on it. You can bring your own water and they have nice clean bathrooms as well. They are doing everything right! Everyone should experience the joy of goat yoga!
