Over the years we have spent thousands at the room place but never again. September of 2021 we purchased two power recliners that proved to be junk. We also purchased the "insurance" at that time. When we submitted the claim my husband (60) was told by the claims rep that they do not replace or repair chairs that have normal wear and tear from older people that sit in the chair for 13 plus hours per day. Number one, we both have jobs and work full time. We spend no where close to that amount of time in these chairs. Number two what the heck kind of ageist bs is this. Because he is 60 they assume he spends all day in a chair? I'm beyond frustrated with this company and recommend for anyone considering purchasing here to run the other way. The quality and service has declined greatly. It's a shame because they were our go-to for so many years. read more

I purchased an leather furniture set for $5000 and received financing. I purchased the extended warranty for $398 and was told if I didn't use the extended warranty, it would be refunded back to me. I paid the credit off early with a tax refund and recently I received an email that I haven't used my Room Place card and the account will be closed if there is no activity posted in the next 2 months. I called to inquire about my credit and was told I had 90 days after the terms to request the credit otherwise it was lost. They acknowledged they never sent a notification of this or it expiring. Now I am out of $398 and will never step another foot in a Room Place again. Buyers beware!!! read more

-UPDATE- I was contacted by the delivery manager and things were made right. ---------------------------------------------------------- While the delivery crew was unloading my item, they dropped it from the truck and it hit the floor pretty rough. When they placed the item in my home and left, I looked at it and it was very clear that there was some damage to the back side. The staples holding the thin wood backing had came loose and there was a huge gap that was very noticeable, so they clearly didn't care about it as there was no way it was unseen. I hammered the staples back in place, it was not perfect but I don't need to return.You don't expect that type of practice when you buy expensive furniture. read more

A year and a half ago I purchased a 3 piece sectional for just shy of $2,500 ($250 of which was supposed to be for a warranty that the sales associate told me would cover anything and everything that went wrong with the couch). The first time we used the warranty was about 6 months ago, a year after I bought the couch, for a broken frame piece, and they were great. Fast forward 6 months (1.5 years after I bought the couch) and I submit 3 separate claims for the warranty to cover a rip in our seat cushion and tears on 4 of our back cushions that are pulling away from the couch and a zipper that broke off the cushion and stuffing is continuously falling out, but because I didn't put "accidental" damage under the description they rejected all 3 claims to fix our couch that isn't even 2 years old!!! I've contacted the store in Mchenry and they were useless when it came to any sort of help or direction. Their response was "there is nothing we can do". I bought a $2,500 couch that was supposed to be "heavy duty" and strong material and it's not even 2 years old and it's falling apart. I do NOT recommend working with The Room Place in McHenry, they are not helpful, don't provide good customer service, and they're salesmen are very misleading as to what the "all-encompassing" warranty actually covers, which is not much. My partner and I are moving to the city next week and have furiously looked everywhere. When we walked into The Room Place we were grayed by Deb. She handed us a flyer and let us shop. I loved it. Some places can be so pushy. It wasn't until we were sitting down in what we thought we wanted that she asked us what we were looking for. She then was a true source of knowledge and made sure we knew what we were getting She made sure we had quality furniture that would last, worked with us to find the exact color scheme, made sure we understood both of our financing options, aided in our needed delivery date, helped us pack the accessories we didn't need to ship out to our car and even stayed way past the time the store closed to complete our order. It is very seldom that you leave a store having spent the type of money we spent feeling excited and at ease. We will definitely be coming back to her for future purchases. Bought furniture here a year and a half ago and bought the protection plan, which is a joke. Don't fall for it. After 1.5 years the furniture starts to peel and the Mchenry location said they don't cover it but will give me something to voice my concern over the product. I want my furniture fixed not to voice my concern. If you want nice and long lasting furniture stay far away from this place Update: I do have to say that after several calls, they did make the situation right. We just had the Room Place come remove our couch and the men that came were extremely unprofessional. One swore numerous times while he was here and they were NOT careful or considerate of our belongings what so ever. They knocked off our decorations on our entry wall and broke the screws and metal basket that were literally anchored into the wall. Not even an apology or acknowledgment of what they just did. I am so disappointed and frustrated at how this happened and was handled. I do not recommend working with The Room Place what so ever. We bought furniture from The Room Place in the past, had the same sales guys, and was quite happy. Yesterday, we went in to purchase a new living room set. We didn't see our guy but a woman approached us with a flyer. My husband and I walked around and decided on a sectional. The sales woman--in short--said our choice was wrong and it was a piece of crap and tried to sell us on a sectional double the price. Really? And when we checked out the one she suggested, she "ran" the numbers and it didn't add up. $109 for delivery? We live 10 minutes away. $200 for a warranty plan we didn't ask for. The amount was ridiculous and really it felt like we were shopping for a used car. The woman was up selling us and we're not okay with that. We left and went to another furniture store where we had a great experience and purchased a sectional. We're disappointed in the quality of sales people. She was terrible and pushy. I purchased a 3 piece sectional spent over 3000.00 and bought the guardian protection. All of the foam broke down in the cushions and now all you are sitting on is wood. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Tim. I had a fantastic shopping experience! He wasn't pushy or forceful but suggestive in working with what I wanted or had in mind. It was easy going and relaxing. I'm about 2 months out from closing on my first house and Tim was very flexible with locking in sale prices for a refundable $50(!) down payment for a bedroom set, mattress, and a sectional. I've been cross-shopping at other furniture stores and nearly all the other sales associates pretty much walk away after they show you what they have and especially after I told them how much time I had until close- not Tim. Not only was I able to lock in the sale prices, but there is added flexibility in being to remove items in the future if I decide not get the full bedroom set. Unbelievable! I've been looking online at similar furniture (particularly the mattress) because I like to find reviews and tend to find better prices. However, that was not the case here- The RoomPlace has extremely competitive pricing. All in all, I can't recommend this place enough. If I could give no starts I would, beware of this place. We bought a bedroom set and dining set and they charged our account twice for everything, they then denied doing so. We had to bring in our bank statement to show them. Then they said oh I guess it was a computer glitch and that it could take 10 days to get our money back. After purchasing 2 power recliners and a power love seat only a year and a half ago, 2 out of the 3 pieces had no padding. The thin mesh underneath literally shredded and the foam padding fell out. That being totally unacceptable I contacted Jasmine. With a little negotiating she agreed to give us credit. We visited the store again and picked out some heavy duty real leather furniture which was much better. It was delivered the next day. Maya and Olga were very nice at the store as well. However , my advice to shoppers is NEVER buy "blended" leather. It is awful. The old saying "you get what you pay for" seems to be truthful. We ordered the chair on Tuesday, got a call on Thursday saying it would be in on Friday and Friday morning got another call stating it was in. We brought our sectional two years ago from this store and they were all happy and helpful, Now that we have an issue with the product they sold us, I can't seem to reach anyone.I have emailed the store(emails bounce back after I was told on the phone who to send them too} and emailed the corporate website twice and still no response. I can even see in my emails who rejected my emails. Our "leather" sectional is falling apart. A sofa should stand up to normal use. Areas where the isn't much use are starting to peal! The warranty we purchased said they don't cover a manufacturing problem when I called them. The funny part is the store sold us the warranty saying it covers anything that could happen and with kids that seemed like a great idea. We were taken on that account cause now they won't cover it.The warranty is a big joke!!! I am not happy with the quality of The Room Place sectional we purchased. I should of known when it was first delivered and had to go back because of wear on the sectional they sent. I would not purchase anything from them again because they don't stand by their products.
