Amazing music! I feel like it's a hidden gem in Santa Monica if you just want to have a place to lounge or dance. They have great bartenders, the inside has these beautiful disco balls! Highly recommend for a place to dance and get your drink on! read more

Had so much fun here with my friends! Came here a few Saturday's ago and really enjoyed myself. We arrived around 11 pm and had no issue getting in. While the place was packed, we didn't feel as if it was overcrowded. Music was amazing and the staff was great! Definitely recommend when looking for a fun place on a Saturday night! read more

This is a hole in the wall dance club. It is good enough to get some dancing going here and with minimal space. The DJ could do better without no doubt, but he was fine at best. The drinks are expensive than other clubs read more

We normally don't go to places like this, but we were invited to celebrate a birthday. Honestly, I don't even know how to describe the experience. The waitress appeared intoxicated and started arguing with and yelling at one of our guests because she left her coat on a chair while she was dancing. Her behavior was aggressive and extremely unprofessional. On top of that, the bartender overcharged us, and the DJ played music that was difficult to dance to all night. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and unfortunately not a place we would return to. read more

Party starts around 10/10:30 even though bar opens at 9. We arrived right at 9 which was nice to have an hour of quiet to talk before the DJ started. They have private booths you can rent out. Small, exclusive-feeling spot. Drinks were ok. The DJ played a good mix of "throwback" songs for the largely millennial crowd. Bathrooms available and free street parking nearby if you're ok with walking. Enter through the back! Would go again read more

I came here two nights in a row to celebrate some friends' birthdays and both nights were so fun! We booked a booth both nights and I definitely recommend people to do the same since you get a nice seating area and someone to come take your drink orders instead of waiting in line at the bar. Our waitress Nayda was great and so friendly both nights! She made sure to come as often as she could (considering it was packed) and made sure we got all the drinks we ordered. On a side note, the bathrooms were nice for a bar/nightclub situation and smelled like incense the whole night. Overall great experience and would definitely come back! read more

Good music. Tighter space. Recommend only getting simple drinks here. Can find older crowd and younger together.

I came here with a large group for 90s night. We had reserved a table in advance and they put us in a nice, cordoned off area. They had a late night happy hour, which was great (though we ended up getting charged incorrectly for some of the drinks). The DJ didn't play much 90s but it was still a cool spot. Very lively on the weekends and was packed with people dancing by 11-11:30. So I'd definitely recommend as a dance spot. It's very discreet so look carefully or you'll miss it. read more

Not a true speakeasy as categorized by YELP. The bartender was pretty honest and so I opted for champagne! Very cool ambiance. Definitely a college vibe. read more

The music is always top-notch whenever I come here. A couple friends and I were already having a fun night, so we chose to continue and keep the party goin'. The parking on the street was close by and though it was packed when we arrived, it did not take long to get a drink. The classic hip-hop they played when we went last brought back a lot of fond memories. If you ever need to visit a place with jams and quick service, this is the joint! Additionally, the bathroom was clean, which is a plus! read more

Came here with some girlfriends to celebrate my best friend's bday and had the best time! We come to Santa Monica fairly often, but it was our first time here and we'll definitely be back. Logan was so attentive and made us the best cocktails! 10/10 recommend checking this bar out if you're in the area, and make sure to ask for Logan! Somebody give that man a damn raise!! read more

This place is cute but no one inside at 9:30 on a Saturday... and the red wine was terrible! Undrinkable and I'm not picky... sweet and vinegar at the same time . ‍and when I politely asked the bartender if he has another he argues saying no and I just opened it. He could at least offer white wine or something but instead takes it, dumps it out and charges us anyway. read more

Recommend on Thursday night The music was BOMB I was so happy I found it! Good drinks read more

Had such a fun night last weekend but they scammed me and charged $47 for a $17 drink. I closed my tab and signed and added a $3 tip so my total should have only been $20. I have tried calling but only get sent to a robot. I am incredibly frustrated and had no choice but to open a dispute with my bank since I have no means of speaking to someone. read more

Our group of ladies wanted to celebrate our friend's 44th and do a girls night out of dancing to 90s Hip Hop. We found No Scrubs Fridays at The Room. I requested a table online and received a prompt response. We arrived and Lia, our hostess took WONDERFUL care of us. We enjoyed our champagne and cocktails and danced and sang and screamed the night away. The atmosphere was casual, comfortable and the place had great energy! The DJ, Julian was fantastic! Can't wait to come back. read more

Valet parking $10. Entry was free for an event. The cocktails were averaging $16.50 and were moderate strength. Bartenders were chill. In the bar, the individual "rooms" were cool, but it hard to tell which seats were open vs. reserved. The bathrooms were average bar bathrooms - no major issues. read more

No. Just, god no. Sadly, this wasn't my choice of venue so I went. The dj was fine, lots of quick cuts which isn't my thing, but lots of dancing so everyone loved it. Also, I liked the music and my wife was on the dance floor all night so that was good, here's the problem and it starts with the Yelp description, "Unpretentious" and then "no sign, small door, worth the search". Sounds pretentious to me! And it is, which is actually fine so long as you have a great staff with chops to back it up. They don't. Drinks were crap, prices were high and the bartenders are some of the worst I've ever seen. When a bartender sees someone try to muscle in front of a customer waiting with a card who has been waiting patiently, you dont reward the pushy asshole. You take the guy's order who has been waiting. Not only did they not do that, they served everyone before me and then all did shots before anyone bothered to get my drink. Which was a MASSIVELY short shot. Look, if you're 21-25, horny, and don't know better or don't think you're worth better, this place is great. However, I know better, we all deserve better, and this place sucks. One extra star because (as I said) my wife had fun. read more

I literally love the room. The service is always amazing. Steve and Trevor are always so sweet and welcoming! We booked a booth for NYE and lia our server was amazing. Had such a great time at The Room Santa Monica! Hazel was our server a couple weeks ago and she seriously made our night super sweet, fun, and on top of everything. The vibe was lively, the drinks were solid, and Hazel made the whole experience even better. We'll definitely be coming back and hope to see her! read more

The DJ was the bomb. I went for a private party. The only problem I had was finding the location. The address says Santa Monica Blvd, but no entry In the front, it's in the rear through a side street. so I drove past it a few times before I realized I was at the right spot. read more

Haven't left a yelp review in a long time but felt the need to recognize this amazing place! My husband and I reserved the large VIP room and invited our friends to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff were super nice and helped us out all night. The DJ music and dancing vibes were on point. Highly recommend this place! read more

Not only are their drinks overpriced, their drinks SUCK! And if you try to let a certain male bartender know that the drinks didn't taste good, not only will he cop a douchey attitude but also treat you as if you were subhuman. This should be a 0/5 star rating. Would NOT recommend. read more

The club has does not have separate lines - if I bought a table, why should I wait in line with people that didn't? Other than that, the establishment is just "ok". I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking to have fun for the night. read more

Super fun and chill place. Great music great vibe. Wish there was a dress code. Will definitely go back again.

I was at its sister locale The Association a month back and circumstances brought me this way so thought id stop in.It took me a whilecto figure out the entrance is through the parking lot rather than off Santa Monica Staff was nice friendlyi, but too dark, danky for me.great vibe though and were id be living in the area i might be inclined to come more often read more

GET A ROOM!!! My Cambodian wing gal and I checked out this hidden place w/ a dance floor in her hood. The Room is located downstsirs, in the back of the parking lot behind The Chestnut Club on 14th near Santa Monica. There is no sign on the door, and there is no cover. The space is a very nice. There is a cool bar, a few booths and a decent sized dance floor. However, there was no DJ on a Thu night, the mix of music was horrible, and there was an UDB (Ultimate Douche Bag) accompanied by his two douchettes. For example, UDB was wearing a hat, dry humped my stool when I stepped away to see if there was a DJ, he was wearing loafers w/o socks (WTF?!), and gave us his card w/o being asked (he sells real estate - surprise, surprise). In addition, he and the douchettes couldn't dance worth a $hit, and they broke a glass: Stooooopid!!!!! It was too bad, because the douchettes were actually good looking. But, because they were w/ UDB and they broke a glass, they went from 7s to 1s real quick. Nonetheless, I can see having fun here w/ friends or w/ the douchettes sans the UDB. In addition, there were a number of other attractive women in the place. However, after the glass breaking incident we decided to leave and hit the more classy Chestnut Club. read more

Came here at around 10:30pm on a Thursday night. The entrance is in the back in the parking lot, and the bouncer was nice and there definitely was not a line. The bar itself is very small, and it was very empty. We stayed until 1am and at times it got a little busy but not even close to being crowded. I liked the interior, plenty of bar seats and these little cozy nooks. The bartender was really nice and friendly -- I loved him. He made the best drinks. I also loved the dj! Great hip hop mixes and a little bit of dancey edm. I was definitely grooving. Although it was very empty, I still had a great time. A+ music! read more

Karaoke every Sunday from 9 pm-12 am is so much fun! Karaoke Dj has over 55,000 songs and there is free parking and free vip tables. It's such a beautiful atmosphere and bartender makes incredible drinks! The sound is great in the club. It's the perfect place to plan your single release party (the dj will let you sing your original song) Birthday party or even after wedding after party! You are welcome to order food and bring into the bar as well. read more

This is a very attractively decorated place, That feels upscale. I have gone in there, many many times and find that it's a very relaxed atmosphere and the people that work there are very nice .... there's valet parking and the funny thing is that I go between this bar with a DJ to the one that shares the same wall next door so you can literally get the two different experiences in the same parking lot, it's very unique:)) read more

Shoutout to Josh! Great vibes and an even better bartender. We'll be coming back for this alone!

Feels more like a dive bar than a lounge, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I really liked the music they were playing. Wells drinks are not too strong - opted for an IPA. You can also reserve a table for a large group of people - minimum cover charge at the bar. read more

My friends and I had a super dope time at this place! Usually I get a bit skeptical when going out in LA (I'm not the biggest fan of bars/clubs where people don't dance or just want to stand around and "look good"), but I'm happy to report that 1. people were dancing at The Room and 2. people were dancing so much that no one cared how they or anyone else looked. :) We walked in around 11:30pm on a Saturday night and the place was packed with a good crowd! Awesome DJ that played perfect dancing music (hip hop), young, friendly, and fun crowd, and I was surprised by how much room we had despite this not being the largest of venues. There was a point where we had to move to an area in front of the bottle service tables, and usually employees at clubs/bars are really sensitive (and even sometimes rude) about hanging out in front of these tables, but The Room workers would politely maneuver their way around non-table groups, especially dancing ones. Big plus for this! Only reason for the knocked star is because we had some cocktails here and they weren't too strong/tasted watered-down...guess we gotta go back and try the drinks again. Though, considering how much fun we had, coming back would definitely not be a problem. read more

Cool place. Lots of people my age (early 20s) but the ratio was not the vibe. Way more men to women. it also took a while to get in (30 mins), especially for a small group of girls. the drinks were ok but ended up totaling to $75.00 for 4 drinks (5 dollar tip). read more

Says happy hour till 10:30. It's not. Drinks are okay but take forever. Bouncer was nice.

Dope spot to get drinks and dance playing Hip Hop, R&B and Top 100. The entrance is through the parking lot / alley.

Underground vibe, can be good or bad depending on the night. It ranges from being empty to having a 20-30 min line. I've been coming on Thursdays where the music is consistently hip hop, r&b. More of a local, young crowd which I prefer. Unlike Saturdays when it is too packed and too hot to enjoy dancing, Thursdays and Fridays are chill. Enough people to feel lively, but not so much where you can smell the next to you on the dance floor. Gotta shout out Nico, Nicole, Peter -- always great service at the bar. read more

The Room appears to be A Thing in the Westside nightlife scene. I went out with a group of people on Saturday night--most of them younger and livelier than I am--and The Room loomed on the horizon like some kind of drunkard's promise land, the White Castle to our Harolds and Kumars. We all met up to pre-game and the chief concern was whether we'd be too late to get into The Room. When we arrived around 10:30, there was a Splash Mountain level line. We waited in this line for a while, despite the cold, before giving up and going to the bar next door, to my great relief. We spent two hours at the Chestnut Club, and during that time, the dream of The Room was kept alive by repeated wistful references. My friends who'd been to The Room spoke of its great music and dirty floors--there'd been talk, earlier in the night, of only wearing shoes that could suffer some damage. None of this made me particularly curious--I do not like crowded bars with spilled drinks and dancing--but I knew, of course, that we'd end up there. In Santa Monica, I guess, all roads lead to The Room. Matt B. and I were crashing and missing our dogs at around 12:30 when Melissa K. and Esther A. decided it was time. We went with them out of a combination of sociability and sheer curiosity. Thankfully, the line had disappeared, the mass of humanity absorbed into the dim bowels of the bar, which was underground, stepped down from the parking lot. We went to join the crowd--we were in The Room. It was not nearly as grimy as I'd expected, the decor rather fancy, actually, with curtains and chandeliers; maybe it was Santa Monica grungy, like I could see it working as the venue for a swingers party. It was crowded and loud, but not intensely unpleasant. Matt and I didn't get a drink, though, and we left after about ten minutes. Now that I know what it's all about, I doubt I'll have cause to go back to The Room. It's not a bad place, but it doesn't quite fit my current lifestyle, which involves drinking in calm places and never waiting in line. If you're a young, fun-loving Westsider, though, The Room is clearly the spot for you. Enjoy yourself. Don't drink and drive. read more
