The overall experience for just the singing and drinking experience is a 3.5 out of 5 if I really scrutinize and get picky. I rounded up to 4 as I think it's a solid location and similar to its competition if you're familiar with the KTV scene in SGV and that's what I'm using as comparison.
Overall, it's a standard Chinese based karaoke place and system. It utilizes the popular KTV software/system most Chinese based karaoke places use, which is a touch screen system that interfaces in Chinese or English. It's not the most robust system as users who aren't Chinese or not familiar with how the system works will struggle initially with searching, and trying to search outside of Chinese is clunky, but it has a very large song catalogue, though in some cases you need to figure out how to find those songs and some popular songs you would think should show up aren't in their system yet an obscure one from the same artist is.
Song library has a decent amount English songs from various decades. Most big pop songs are available. Korean and Japanese songs are mixed as some popular songs are present while some are not yet obscure songs will be present, or they use a live concert version. The name formatting and titling are inconsistent and in some cases, you need to know the Chinese/Hanja/Kanji or the romanization/English translation of the title. Chinese songs are roughly what you would expect, plentiful, though there are inconsistencies as well. Quality of the song and music video varies. I feel the system was just designed for mainland China use with some foreign songs, but they Frankenstein'd a bunch of other song banks and systems to make it an international product.
The audio system is alright. Speakers and mic quality are average, not bad, not amazing. Like any system, be smart with feedback. Audio configuration can be done through the touch screen system. Mic configuration, I can't remember if it was locked or not. My experience was, it wasn't bad but I didn't feel as confident and had to adapt to the mic and presets.
3.5/5 for the audio, song bank, and system interface
Service was alright, they came pretty fast if you called. We were greeted at the front desk and were checked on a few times in the beginning to ensure we got everything before getting into the rhythm of things. Solid 4.5 stars for my night's experience.
Interior is clean and nice enough. Lobby and shared space is nice and the rooms seemed alright. Nothing that interesting or extra amenities that added a big wow factor to me. Solid 4 stars for interior.
I've had drinks here and outside of the alcohol, some of the other drinks were a bit disappointing. I think I had the grapefruit with honey and something else. It essentially tasted like hot water, a little honey, and the syrup from those jam/fruit preserve/make your own drink at home jars you can buy at a chinese supermarket. Relatively weak flavor and did not feel worth it. Drink game needs to step up if you're going to charge those prices. You got canned and bottled stuff if you want to play it safe but it doesn't feel hard to have some good house specialties and in house made beverages.
3/5
Price wise, drinks both alcohol and non alcohol are in the range of what you expect at a karaoke place. Room rates are around the average. I didn't do the happy hour, but it follows many other places in the one flat rate unlimited singing + food/beverage credits which is really worth it if you can do those times. Outside happy hour, relatively fair and average. If you don't go as a group, it will feel much more expensive.
Price is 3.5/5 as it's average priced for the most part. it's a 4/5 or 5/5 if you only do happy hour and how you utilize it.
All in all, solid 3.5 stars, inching to solid 4 stars. Minor tweaks would up the score very easily.
If the drinks were better, they had other amenities or specials, other types of pricing outside happy hour, better refinement on the audio/mic, or better setup and library for their ktv system rather than using the generic stock one every chinese ktv place uses would push it to a 4 or 5.
I want to give this place a 5 since it's somewhat close by to me, has an easily accessible space, and tries to do unique deals/specials with the happy hour. The first time I came here (but didn't stay) it felt really nice in potential after a few bad past experiences at other places, but the last time I came, it felt average or slightly above average. They seem to be changing up what food they're doing and that just screams to me they're just throwing whatever at the wall and seeing what stick vs having their identity and specialty. I think specializing in some dishes and drinks and keeping the menu more limited ensures better quality and flavor. But that's just my preference. I know people who like having lots of selection and prefer value/quantity.
