I came here after a long time of reading about The Rogi Shoppe. I'm so glad to finally have the chance to visit. Let me warn you if you don't know the Shelton area. Parking can be a little crazy. Luckily for my friend, this was not a parallel parking situation. The shop is right over the bridge when you come into Shelton, but you need to take a trip around the block to get to the parking area. Once you park, you head toward the bridge and walk up the sidewalk to the shop. Once in, you will see a counter with a menu board for ordering. The shop is small and only offers two bistro tables in the window. The seating is very tight, bigger people might have a problem getting comfortable. We were fortunate enough to snag a table on this visit. The food is offered to go or dine in. The portions are large and the pricing is reasonable. The default way of cooking the pierogi is fried. If asked they offer it other ways, but try it fried. You won't be disappointed. There were many flavors offered but I went more traditional with the 3 pierogi (sauerkraut and mushroom), kielbasa and sauerkraut . My friend got the 6 pc Buffalo Chicken. Both were very good. I had leftovers that I would've been able to enjoy if my son hadn't gotten to them first! I plan to go back soon. I can't wait to try other flavors, maybe even a sweet one. My only wish would be for a larger seating area. I know that my family would love this place. read more

The Rogi Shoppe is a unique place. It's a Polish restaurant in downtown Shelton. It's very small. It has two, two person tables. So it's mostly take out by necessity. The menu focuses on pierogis. But there is kielbasa, Polish style sides, etc. The pierogi are both traditional (mushroom and sauerkraut; potato) and creative (steak and cheese). You can pay for additional toppings like bacon and onion. I went with the steak and cheese, with bacon and onions, and a side of chipotle aioli. I also ordered a side beet salad because the cashier' reaction when she was talking about the sides led me to believe she thinks the beet salad is the best. The food was very well executed. The pierogis had good color and texture. The steak and cheese filling was tasty. The bacon and onions were great. The chipotle aioli was good. The beet salad, as I suspected, was tasty. I'm not a huge beet person, but the way they cut it into small pieces, and gave it a slight garlic flavor. Really worked. People have raved about The Rogi Shoppe for years. Did Grubhub from here a few nights ago and it was beyond expectations! We tried four different types of pierogis; steak and cheese, pork, potato and cheese and spinach and cheese (my favorite). You know that an ethnic restaurant is great when people from that ethnic background enjoy it. I met people there from a Polish background, and they couldn't stop talking about how much love the food, how authentic it is, how they bought food for the week to take home. Service is great, respectful and they're a family, and that's great. There's some seating inside, and free parking in the parking lot or on the street. I had the pierogis boiled instead of fried, and they were good, very buttery and filling. They have salads, desserts, and a lot. I look forward to going again to try more. read more

One of the very first foods, my grandmother used to make for me were homemade pierogies. I always have warm memories of her each time I have the opportunity to eat pierogies. My friend suggested we try the Rogie Shoppe on Bridge Street in Shelton and it was the perfect opportunity to relive my childhood. After ordering potato and farmer cheese boiled pirogies, we also had one order of eight fresh sauerkraut and Mushroom boiled pierogies. Both were very good.  The family owned restaurant is small, friendly and has parking around the back. The menu is extensive and I look forward to going back to try a few more different types of pierogies. Especially since there's even one for dessert. read more

The workers at The Rogi Shoppe were super friendly and helpful. There are a lot of choices, and they gave us some recommendations and extra sauce flavors. I was here for a work trip, and a coworker and I shared several dishes. I think overall, all the pirogies would be better fried. You can pick between boiled and fried for all the flavors and we got a mix. The kielbasa was also delicious, and comes with 3 pirogies. I also really enjoyed the cinnamon apple dessert pirogies, so if you have room, its definitely worth it. We did eat at the restaurant, and there are two, two person tables and a bar area. Very good Pierogi Came to this place because we headed for some interactive theater and needed to eat something beforehand. We found a nice little pierogi shop to give a try, so we made a detour to give them a go. They don't have any direct parking. there's a lot that's adjacent to this shop that you then need to walk to. So it's not the easiest to get to right away. The shop is small, a couple of tables but mostly an ordering desk and a kitchen in the back. They do polish fare, but mostly pierogi. Since it's called the rogi shoppe, I expected good pierogi at least. And I did get good Pierogi They don't really pan fry them, they kind of shallow fry them in butter. It's pretty good that way, but very heavy. The texture of the shell reminded me a lot of the old apple pies you would get at mcdonalds. just deep fried and delicious but not the healthiest. We get a smattering of their pierogies in different flavors. we grab one of the two tables and dig in. Speed of service was relatively quick. they do fry to order, so it does take a little longer to get your order but it's fresh out the grease when you get them. None of the pierogi that I had were stellar. The fry of the pierogi made them pretty good to begin with, but then they had stuffings that were a little underwhelming. the best bite was the steak and cheese, which was a greasy little pocket of horrible for your diet tastyness. The pork, cheesy buffalo chicken, and cheesy bbq chicken were dry, had to rely on the cheese to do a lot of the heavy lifting but they worked for what they were. Overall, it's a nice shop with good pierogi. I do have a preference when it comes to my pierogi, and this place doesn't really do it for me. Omg this food was HEAVENLY!! The person we ordered from suggested we add bacon to our sautéed in butter and onion traditional pierogis. The BEST suggestion. We ordered to go since we were going to a Cabaret style show. Food was packed well and my daughter who picked them up said the staff was very friendly and the restaurant was cute inside. That's a big compliment from an almost 22 year old! There was parking on street on side and a big lot in the back so parking wasn't an issue. We finally made our much anticipated visit to The Rogi Shoppe and not a moment to soon after we stepped inside, a line was out the door right just around 6:00 PM. There is limited seating space inside and we were lucky enough to grab a table. The food was served promptly, but it looked like the to go orderers had quite the wait ahead of them. As for the food, the traditional potato and cheese pierogis were top notch and set a whole new standard for pierogi eating. They were fluffy and pillow like. The spinach and cheese pierogis were also good, but just weren't able to live up to the traditional flavor. Our kielbasa was phenomenal, we enjoyed the butterfly-style cut which made it easy to slice into pieces. We were disappointed in the potato pancakes as they were over cooked, but we were pleased by the portion size. The carrot horseradish salad was overpowering no matter which way we tried it, and it was the only item we could not finish. It's unfortunate that The Rogi Shoppe has such a small space, the food did not stay warm for quite too long so we were happy to had been able to enjoy it on the spot. A larger space would suit them well. We hope our potato pancakes were a one time mess up as we are more than willing to give them another try. We're not sure if there's another restaurant quite like The Rogi Shoppe in Connecticut, it is well worth the visit for Polish food lovers. read more

This was a great little spot hidden off Howe ave in Shelton. We parked behind the restaurant and saw it on the side of the building because of the Polish flag outside. The restaurant is very small with only two small tables. Expect to take out or eat outside. We knew it was small, but expected to sit so we had to wait a bit to try our pierogis. We will plan better next time to be able to eat them fresher! Despite the size and temperature, there was a constant flow of people and a line. We got many (many) things. Pierogis-Garlic Parm, mushroom and kraut, potato and cheddar, the og, three cheese and spinach, Apple caramel. We also got stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, carrot cake and these fun sodas. I had heard such good things about The Rogi Shoppe for the longest time, and as a Polish foodie, I knew I had to go check it out! It's a cute little hole in the wall, and luckily we snagged the table there to eat in since we don't live right in town. They use Rosol's kielbasa from New Britain which we like, and I was impressed by their creative pierogi flavors like steak and cheese and buffalo chicken that you won't find in a traditional Polish restaurant. I can't say enough about this amazing pierogi shop. I've been here a few times and each time was as good as the last. The shop inside was small, and sadly when we arrived to eat both tables were taken so I ordered and waited outside. The nice guy who worked here bought my food out for me, so we sat outside and ate, it was a nice day so it was fine. The second time we came prepared to eat in the car. The staff was very friendly and when they saw I was a bit indecisive about my choices they gave me multiple suggestions but did not rush me whatsoever. Super friendly and helpful people. After a few moments, I decided on their steak and cheese pierogis as well as their weekly special Mac and cheese pierogis. I decided to sit inside, there is only 8 chairs but it seemed most people ordered take out so my mom and I basically had the place to ourselves. My son and I went on an adventure today of eating. We decided to try something different. We decided to go to The Rogi Shoppe in Shelton. It's only five minutes away from my house and I never heard about it until I seen someone on Yelp recommended it. I decided to try something in my community because there's all sorts of restaurants in downtown Shelton. My son and I ordered the steak and cheese and potato and cheese perogies. My son and I agreed we loved the potato and cheese perogies better. We ordered a side of bacon and sour cream for a side for the potato and cheese perogies. They we're very delicious and fried to perfection. The only thing I would say that they are greasy as my son and I had grease all over are hands. Happened to be driving between Derby and Shelton was at a traffic light and looked to my right. I saw off to the side a little place with a sign saying the Rogi Shoppe. I LOVE Pierogi's!! The shop is small. There are two squeezed in tables and a counter with two stools. It might be a bit pricey for some. I thought the rogi's where yummy so ever so often its not bad. I ordered the potato and cheddar cheese, then on a suggestion of someone eating at the counter the steak and cheese. You have three cooking options - uncooked so you can take them to cook at home, fried and boiled. I of course went with fried. There are six options and then rotating special ones. In addition choices of six toppings I went with sour cream and bacon. I saw some other comments about the fried being too greasy. But in my opinion if you opt for fried they will be greasy. Great little place! Easy parking once you configure where the shop is, Apple gps was a bit of a pain to direct us here properly. I got the kielbasa with steak and cheese perogi and sautéed onions. Very good and could have eaten more of the steak and cheese perogi. Tried the Tymbark Apple Raspberry Mint tea drink imported from Poland. It was perfectly sweet enough for a nice refresher but not super overdone sweet. My other half got the 6-piece spinach and cheese rogi, with a side of sour cream. They were earthy and great as well. Decided to try and help a new restaurant starting out during this time of Covid and I'm so happy I did. It's a small, quaint place, service with a mask smiled and the most important thing. The pierogies were fabulous! I purchased 3 different types. We had the spinach and cheese, mushroom and sauerkraut, and the pork. They are available fried (sauté) or boiled. We went for fried. They were delicious. Good size, filled well and tasty. The spinach were topped with crispy bacon and the others topped with sautéed onions. I'll post pics of the menu. Tiny spot with a small selection of homemade perrogi's, both traditional and modern/unique, + a few other polish foods (including Kielbasa). Have a few toppings you can add to your perrogi's and the first one is free Peroggi's come in orders of either 6 or 8 and are incredibly fresh. They are lightly fried so they taste both bread-y and crisp at the same time I tried both their traditional perrogi's and their steak and cheese perrogi's. Nice take on unique style pierogies. I ordered the Steak n Cheese which is a staple on their menu along with one of their specials for the week. Mac n Cheese filled with bacon crumbled atop was good. I just wish they were cheesier with more flavor. I was glad I added the bacon to compliment them. The steak n cheese pierogies were awesome! Bursting with flavor.
