I have been to this well known local venue many times for various events and am sad to hear that it will soon be no more. It's a great concert venue for all types of local and national acts,and I went to week night karaoke for a quick period of time. They upgraded a bit at one point too which was nice. Theres always been street parking, decent bathrooms and a big patio. Good drinks and service, solid security, just excellent vibes over all. Attended their shenanigans comedy at the end of December 2025. It was cold outside and just as cold inside. The bar area did not appear to be very clean. Dust was quite evident on display bottles, and the beer was not very cold. Too much ice in short cups of water. How about offering coffee? read more

Lil 'ole unassuming me walked away from The Rock recently wanting to grab a microphone and scream that guttural, give it everything you've got,deep, horror-laced type of scream. Who would'a thunk it? The Rock is a little on the gritty side (ok, a lot on the gritty side) but fun nonetheless. We were there at the birthday girl's request as she had friends doing body modification suspension during the night and between the different bands' sets. I like the set up at The Rock which allows underage patrons to enjoy the club and music while those wishing to partake in adult beverages can belly up to the bar, watch the show and use the outdoor patio since the room is divided by a chain link "cage".....how apropos. The bartender was quick to serve and everyone we came in to contact with was genuine and kind. Shallow Freak II was the show when we were at The Rock and each band was amazing and very interactive with the crowd. I was surprisingly intrigued, amazed and horrified as the opening band Saalythic was preparing to play. Lead singer and amazing, hot chick Sythe Cruz had hooks placed through her back while on stage and then was suspended as she performed her ridiculously incredible set. It was pure craziness. But this review isn't about a band or suspension, it's about The Rock. I would definitely come back to the Rock for other, surely tamer shows. If you're a GROWN ADULT looking for a place to see your favorite band live, this is not the place. I'm pretty sure they just bought this abandoned building, painted it black, bought some junk speakers at Walmart and started selling tickets to unsuspecting folks expecting an up-close and personal type venue. - Zero A/C - Really poor sound quality - could barely make out the songs and we were 20 feet from stage - Expired beers (seriously) - Over 21? A friend of mine is in a local band here in Tucson that has performed many times at The Rock. They have not had many issues with the company and promoters that give them opportunities to play at the venue before. However this most resent show that they were invited to play was not planned property at all. The advertised time that my friends band was to go on was 7 pm. Upon their arrival at The Rock they were told they were going on at 6:25. This was not the time listed on the ticket which was almost $20. This issue caused everyone that bought a ticket to miss their entire set which was only 2 songs instead of their normal 5-6. To say the least I believe that The Rock management and promoters have now lost their credibility. I do not suggest that local and out of city bands play at this venue if they cannot plan a successful show. read more

Was my first time at this venue last Friday to see The Black Moods. The door gal/guy and gal/guy bartenders were friendly. The place has a nice floor plan and outside patio (really helps when it gets too hot inside). The bathroom was clean. read more

My logical brain says to give a two-star rating, yet the emotional brain says five....four is a fair compromise. It's technically not a great location, but I have seen so many amazing bands (before they were huge) at this location, plus a fair number of friends in bands perform there....that I'm fond of it, and there is nostalgia. I do hope they improve a lot of negatives (which I am sure they are aware of), but it should not cause you to re-think a concert there. read more

this was my first time visiting the rock. we went to see tribal seeds last sunday evening along with inna vision and new kingston! they had willcall outside and the staff were nice. once inside, we figured out where the bar was. it was caged and 21+ only were allowed in. it was packed in there!! not 'til we got up to the counter, we realized it was a cash only bar. luckily, i had cash. but, if you're not that lucky, they have an ATM in their facility. they have a nice large patio out back with heat lamps and a bar outside where someone was taking orders for cheese burgers off the grill. overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back for a concert at this venue. thanks for bringing great talent to tustoned, iriezona! This is probably my favorite venue I've been to in Tucson. It's not huge so you can be pretty close to the action without being too close. Parking is good if you can get there at a decent time. The shows are pretty cheap. If you're like me then you don't carry very much cash and they only accept cash for drinks and snacks. That's the one downside. read more

The Rock is the only place in Tucson for heavy music and bands who's names are illegible but look cool on a black t-shirt. The PA is good and loud, and the stage is big enough for any nationally touring metal band. On the downside, the room is wider than it is long and the 21+ area is off to the side and roped off. Also, its located well off the main entertainment strip in town, so walking down the street for post-show drinks, people-watching, and taco carts is not happening. read more

Not the classiest or most modern venue, but the shows they bring in are WELL worth it. The property is quaint enough to where meeting bands is easy- I've met Steve Vai here, hung out with Speed from Soilwork, and avoided the mosh pit at tons of great shows! Metal fans definitely need apply! Decent drink prices ($3 domestic beers), separate 21 and over section, and East Coast right across the street make for a solid concert experience. The sound system is adequate, and quite loud during Metal shows, so consider earplugs. The worst change they've made would have to be the no re-entry policy, which doesn't help if you forget something in your car, but I suppose they have their reasons. read more

Recently went here for a show. It was great venue, felt very safe, wide variety of patrons, reasonably priced beer and drinks, and they offered grilled food outside. Also I found parking right out front during a show that was sold out. They separate the under 21 from over 21 area with a metal cage, and there are separate smoking areas for each age group as well. The womens bathroom is my only complaint, the stall doors are very odd and small, leaving your legs and head exposed while using the restroom to other women in the bathroom.. not a big deal though. read more

The Rock is really cool if you can find a show you like. They bring in alot of local shows and trashy death metal. They have a 21+ area which is nice if your 21 and the shows are very intimate. They have 2 big pillars in the middle of the floor which seriously harp on my moshing game. The tickets keep getting pushed higher and higher (sometimes more than Rialto shows) especially for any some what established band. You can meet pretty much anyone in a band outside as well. They just chill outside and its sweet to talk with them. If your looking for good munchies before or after the show check out east coast subs, they are really dank. read more

So, had prepaid for tickets, having never been there. No idea it was a bar but both my partner and I are in our mid thirties. At the door, was ID'd and seemingly profiled, possibly based on our attire, it was a country concert after all. The bouncer had the situational awareness to ask what branch of service I was in (marines once upon a time) rolled his eyes, and then stated that my fiancé had too much to drink and would not let us in. If two glasses of wine had literally ever gotten literally anybody drunk I would be beyond shocked, or assume they either could not process alcohol, or were a 65 lb child. As a current Law enforcement professional, former bouncer myself during college, I saw this as unfair and unwarranted. When he stated there was nothing we could do to get in, I weighed my options and decided that the "rock" was more of a pebble that I had zero interest in spending a dime in. We had more friends coming and decided to re-route and do something actually country and go kick it in the sticks. Never, ever, under any circumstances would I recommend giving this company your business. #flatlandcalvary made a bad choice for a venue and you're better than this. read more

Best concert venue that I have ever been to.! Great place, great music and awesome people! I have always had good experiences with the staff there. The venue isn't classy, but if a gritty rock n roll venue is what you're into then, by all means. I always feel sorta old, yet sorta young when I go there, which is weird. I feel young because there is always someone's nana there and old because it makes me realize that I am no longer a scrappy's crowd youngin'. What a weird frickin' place, and I mean weird in an affectionate way. TVs line the walls and show symbols and static, a gigantic cage keeps the teens away from the bar and outdoor patio, and there's a semi-arcade off the main floor. It's a great, and cheap, place to see up-and-coming or touring bands, but it feels like you're in an early 90's Ninja Turtles movie or Megadeth's "Wake Up Dead" video. read more

We drove down here from Phoenix to see Iration. We liked this venue. Decent priced drinks and good sized patio with plenty of heaters to keep us warm. Everyone was very nice and the drinks were stronger than we expected. They just used a chain-linked fence to close off the 21+ section, which I felt was very dangerous because it was not secured in anyway. Someone did climb the fence, but security quickly got her down and let her stay. read more

I love this venue dearly! For such a small whole in the wall, they bring in some big name artists. It's a small and intimate venue, which makes every show great! There's a smoking lounge outside, where you can get some air if it gets too heated on the floor. Drinks are decently priced and tickets are usually cheap. And for a dirty rock club, is pretty clean. Theres always a good time to be had at The Rock. The local bands are fun to watch, The bartenders are always courteous and having all ages means that I can go out with my kids and have a good time. They do need better parking ; but its not a long walk usually. Also I think the bands should be accessible to the 21 plus side. but other than those its an awesome time. read more

Had an awful experience, had one of the men who was checking IDs grab me and yell at me. He was very aggressive and out of line. I walked passed him because I did not notice he was checking IDs. I could not help but think if I looked 30 or even was a male that would not of happened. I look very young for my age. If it were somebody older even a man he would have tapped them on the shoulder yelled out or even apologized. I had the worse experience at this venue due to looking young and being female. He continued to stare at me after he let us in the 21 and over section and I could not enjoy myself at all. I felt so uncomfortable I had to leave. read more

Been here for a couple shows - D.R.I. some months ago, and Brujeria last night. Place is small but intimate, you can get right up to the stage, sometimes on the stage depending on if the band allows that sort of thing. (D.R.I. does;) Staff is adequate and friendly enough, crowd seemed cool. You can see the stage pretty well from the back and the sides, but there are two poles right in the middle of the pit area just in front of the stage. Didn't get any drinks or food, so I can't speak for that. Also didn't use the restrooms, so can't speak for that either. $25 at the door to get in for Brujeria, not bad. Parking is on the street and the neighborhood doesn't seem too shady, pretty quiet actually and seemed safe enough. The most negative aspect of the venue is the sound system. It sucks. Bad. To the point you can hardly make out one note from the next, and you'll leave with a headache. read more

Been going to the rock for about 7 or 8 years now, in my opinion it has the best PA system in town, i like loud and if your in the somewhat back you can hear everything. My only complaint is its a little small for some of the shows they bring in and those 2 dang pillars in the room. Still, i love seeing local and touring bands there. read more

The Rock is a great venue dedicated to helping local bands get shows and is the place to go for fundraiser concerts. As a venue that you can "rent for your own event", it had been the open door to many organizations and causes looking to raise money and awareness through drawing in a large crowd in probably the most successful way; through music. Tucson's music scene wouldn't be the same without this venue. Their support is what keeps the local bands going as well as giving Tucson a safe place to spend our evenings and enjoy some music. read more

Totally unhappy with this location and the people inside of it. This venue is small and felt very unsafe with amount of people they they attempted to cram into it. From what it was like being inside it seemed as if they oversold tickets, which was the first bad sign. Also there was only two doors to get in and out of this venue and with the amount of people there it was not ok. The staff was polite and tried their best but having an all ages show at a bar that small this was a horrible idea. The bands were amazing and sounded great and worth seeing again, no doubt. But I will never return to this venue again no matter what amazing person/group performs there and never go to another all ages show. It seemed as though everyone was more concerned about getting a picture or video to share than actually watching and enjoying the music. I felt going here was a big waste of time, money, and effort for myself. read more
