The one who served us was very nice and even made a drink recipe I came up with. Unfortunately, their bar is not well stocked so had to make a LOT of adjustments to my recipe. But appreciated his suggestions and effort. Now for the bad stuff. They have a jazz club attached. I figured the whole place would have that ambience but was disappointed that wasn't the case. Generic pop on the patio and inside is very noisy. The preferred dress of patrons appears to be gym shorts and t-shirts. Drinks were a little weak so I switched over to bourbon on the rocks. There was no clear explanation and no opportunity to order. The tap room wasn't full, and it was obvious there were people there who appeared to be regulars. Meanwhile, we were turned away without being given the same chance. We left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and singled out. As a group of Mexican customers, the experience left us questioning whether we were treated differently because of our ethnicity. Whether that was the intention or not, that is how the interaction made us feel. I hope management takes this seriously and ensures every customer is treated with respect and fairness.

I asked about a refund, and the on-site manager--who appeared very young and inexperienced--told me he'd have to "check with higher-ups." There was no attempt to resolve the situation or offer any real help. Just dismissive and unprofessional. Sure, I could have taken my purse back to my car, but it was parked over a mile away. That's not a reasonable solution once you're already at the venue and in line. Policies like this need to be clearly communicated in advance. Leaving people stranded at the door is unacceptable. Overall, a frustrating and poorly managed experience.

It feels like there is ALWAYS something going on here. On my first visit, my girlfriend took me on a date here to catch a burlesque show. It was absolutely packed and everyone had a great time! And every Friday and Saturday night, there is some reiteration of a goth dance night ($5 cover). I also appreciate the slightly older crowd full of my fellow thirtysomethings, and the upstairs patio cannot be missed when the weather is nice. The cocktail menu isn't anything especially fancy, but there's still something for everyone to enjoy. My favorite is always the Prickly Heat--think a prickly pear margarita that's absolutely loaded with fresh jalapenos. It's not for the weak! There's also food, and while it's not mind-blowing or anything you'll appreciate that you can have a nice snack at midnight on a weekend. Surly Wench is a local cultural institution, and we're lucky to have it.

Appreciated that they had 2 NA beer options at the bar, and all of the staff were friendly. We'd go back next time we're in town if there was someone we wanted to see!

It's a great concert venue for all types of local and national acts,and I went to week night karaoke for a quick period of time. They upgraded a bit at one point too which was nice. Theres always been street parking, decent bathrooms and a big patio. Good drinks and service, solid security, just excellent vibes over all. There was a pickup jazz ensemble playing who called themselves TFQ. They consisted of trumpet, bass, keyboard, and singer and they were amazing. Word is that the owners want to turn this into a regular performance venue. There doesn't appear to be anything resembling a kitchen or even a bar/counter so that might prove limiting. Parking will also be very difficult. But the space is quaint, with some cool features such as the dual openings (main entry doors off the street and a garage door off the side alley. That open-air ambience would definitely make for a cool experience, especially if you can come/go as you stroll the area.

Whether it be an art show, a party, yoga classes or a musical performance. I went to see a chamber music performance. This venue is fully designed and equipped to enhance musical performances with studio lights and full sound boards. Acoustic tiles are strategically placed. Wood floors. A bit of the new and a bit of the old. Clean and nicely designed bathrooms. Simply wonderful! There is ample parking just a short distance away. Of course many nice spots nearby if you want to dine or partake in a drink before or afterwards. All within walking distance.
