Bright, hard-edged southwestern colors prevail in the shops within, where local artists' works are for sale, and since each shop is a separate business the place is a labyrinth of little rooms, each room giving onto the next, yet more eccentric one before you know it. The merchandise offered, room-to-room, includes not only the artworks but also books, gewgaws and greeting cards; old countercultural records and posters; vintage clothing; wines from Arizona and sodas from Mexico; and distinctive southwestern edibles such as multihued transparent lollipops with spider and scorpion husks inside (great fun for the kids!).
