We went with a group of 15 people, so let me start with that. We were given a very limited menu, 4 starters, 4 main courses and 2 deserts. The steak tartare was super yummy and the meat plate appetizer we had was great and really good for sharing. The outdoor seating area is wonderful! For the main course a few had burgers that ended up being severely under cooked. We were told they were medium but Dutch medium is different than what I'm accustomed too, that's for sure. The rib and steak plates were liked across the table. In the end, the waitress gave us some deserts and coffee for free to account for the burgers, which was much appreciated. Visited the roastroom with a friend. What i liked: - nice food - very friendly staff - parking in area is easier -easy to reach by tram and metro and train Tips: -Do reserve in advance. This place was great!! Very conveniently located next to true RAI where we were working. The inside was very fun an inviting. It had s Cheque Woodland atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and though did not readily know the ingredients of the food, they were very accommodating to find the answer. My coworkers got the flat bread which proved to be a good choice since I couldn't even stage to have them take a photo... the fish sand which though was so very good! The chips were perfectly seasoned and the sandwich meat was very moist. I would definitely go back and get this again. I will say I didn't have it but the woman next to me did... looked fantastic! DEELISH! really worth the wait with the crowd. Food is tasty, fresh and filling. The crowd got a bit loud but the ambiance was still enjoyable. We were here for an event at the RAI and were recommended this place by their staff and it did not disappoint! We had shared the bacon burgers, fries, cheese platter and bacon flat breads (which are more like thin crust pizzas). The drinks are also fantastic with unique gin mixtures. The restaurant was next to our convention center so was a easy find after a long day conference. Very good ambience with lively atmosphere and decors. They have a butcher/ cold room with transparent glasses so you have see fresh steak cuts. It is mainly a steak or burger place with freshly prepared burger or steak cuts. We ordered assortments of sides along with my entered which was a delicious find for me. A jackfruit burger which caught me with surprise in the menu full of hamburgers and steaks. Loved it, cooked in sauces so right softness and juiciness, satisfying to my tastebuds. Beer selection was great at this place. Furniture and decor was very pleasing. Beautiful decor and ambience.... Service was by far the worst we have had in over 6 years.. Other places we have been to while here have been wonderful. Only a part of what we ordered was brought to the table, at least the kid burger and juice came out in decent time for our 2 year old. Second beverage order got lost in the Matrix I guess. I enjoyed the place and the steak, but the cocktail menu was subpar. I asked for a manhattan (classic) and I got a blank stare, ended up ordering off the menu - cognac mixed with sprite. Uhm... what? We had oysters as an appetizer, steak to share with brussel sprouts and the mashed potatoes. I loved the steak, it was perfect temperature and it was cooked over the open fire. My dinner date and I were discussing the benefits of suis vide, but the mastery of the grill chef was stunning. Perfect steak! The sides were good. We both enjoyed it. So, if you're a vegetarian... you know. This isn't really the number one place I would recommend to you in Amsterdam, but there are still some veggie options on the menu that are amazing, and the restaurant itself is wonderful. I love this place for its location, first of all - directly beside the RAI, and Beatrix Park, so if you're coming in from the train and just want a great meal and a nice place to relax you can't do much better. It's also not right in the heart of things (but a close walk to the 12, and not far from the middle of town), so you can avoid some of the craziness and I've so far had no trouble getting a table here even at what I'd consider to be a peak time. The feeling of the restaurant is almost like a lodge - tons of wooden tables everywhere, but big windows so you don't feel like you are in a dark tavern - great outdoor seating with wood fires blasting here and there, and when you walk in you see the bar, tons of space for big groups at tables or smaller ones, and a second floor as well. Wait staff have always been super friendly and helpful, accommodating me when I was just with one other person, or when I brought a group. They speak Dutch and English, and are thorough and helpful with the menu. Drinks are big and delicious (try one of the special gin and tonics), and of course, the meat selections are pretty amazing. Each time I've gone, I've shared the pulled pork burger with someone (my favorite), and last time I tried some of the pork belly tacos. I also had the steak sandwich, which I highly recommend - super juicy with awesome zingy tartar sauce. Mmm. I don't believe I shared that one. :) I also recommend getting the Roast Charcuterie plate as a starter - generous portions of different sausages, meats, some bread and sauces, and so on. I believe this plate changes frequently, but each time I've gotten it I've loved it. Overall, highly recommend this one, and will return many times I am sure. read more

Somehow they can't get it right at the Roast Room. Have eaten here a few times now since its opening (live nearby) and there's about always something disappointing. Helpless students as staff (a sparse exception to this rule exist) take/deliver the orders wrongly, one size/flavor fits all burgers (don't attempt to get them medium). The range of steaks offer at best average value for money. Expect to pay 3 euros for a bottle of tap water! read more

The family and I visited The Roast Room twice on our last visit to Amsterdam. I like the look of the downstairs section of the restaurant. We were told that they had an upstairs dinning area as well, which we did not try. The beers and wines we had there where good. Both visits I had their Steak Sandwich which was done perfectly. I loved the roll or bread in came with. We tried 3 appetizers Ossenworst, which is raw beef (Amsterdam) sausage. The first bite was a bit strange, but I liked it. Their brood -( Malt bread ) was very tasty. The last appetizer we tried was the Pretzel which was good as well. We had excellent service & I would go back to The Roast Room the next time I head back to Amsterdam. read more

Service and ambiance were excellent! That got them to 2 stars.... Unfortunately the kitchen is a disaster. For taking such pride in the preparation and cutting of their meats which are aged, The kitchen apparently does not know how to cook a ribeye or even a hamburger. The steaks were completely rare through the center as if they threw on a frozen steak on the grill. By the time it got to the table it was room temperature at best. To top it off, the steak had almost no flavor whatsoever. was here with my brother, who had the burger. Ordered a well-done and it came out medium rare, almost like it was cooked frozen as well. Got a bit of unnecessary attitude when ordering downstairs, no particularly obvious reason why. Server also spilled a coke on one of my colleagues, which sucked since it was during a tradeshow. I love this place. Great ambiance, fantastic food, fine choice of meat and excellent service. The restaurant is owned by the same chef who runs the Vis aan de Schelde, so quality is no compromise. This place has two levels, ground floor is a place for a quick bite a bit noisy, but nice selection. Upstairs is a more upscale and relaxed. I like both. ;) read more

I really wanted to enjoy this place. It failed miserably. We are older and was seated in a high rise bench in the middle, very difficult to get in. We ask for another seating, we were told it's fine you will be ok. So we struggled to get in. We got our drinks fine, we thoughtful ok not bad. We order, I had eggs Benedict. They holidaise we very vinegary, and the forgot the ham. I tried to get a waiter attention with no luck. I had to go fetch someone to advise my dish was incomplete. To only have the manager bring me slice sandwich ham and say " here's your extra ham" there was no extra nothing about it. My husband dish was not good either. He order Ceasar salad came with pulled chicken and the Asian oven dish not sure what it was supposed to be, but it was horrible. Some needs to test the food in the kitchen. They did comp my dish. Not happy with the food or service. They more interested in squeezing you in and getting you out. read more

From the outside the place looks great. The interior looks well thought out, and you can sit at a small stable or sit at what I can only describe as a huge picnic table. When walking into the place we were asked if we wanted to sit at a small table or share a "picnic" table. We chose to sit at a small table, we were pointed in the direction of the place where we would be able to sit. We choosing a spot that would seat four we were asked to move to a table for two. It than toke about 5-10 minutes before we even got see a menu. When the menu was brought over and we were asked if we would like some bread we said yes and waited patiently for about 30min. 30 Min seriously it takes 30 min to get bread? When the bread arrived we quickly placed our orders, 2 Man Steaks Rare and a plate of Pork Belly "sliders". It toke about 20min maybe less for the Pork Belly "sliders" to arrive. I can only say that these tasted amazingly. After having finished the Pork Belly we waited I kid you not at least an hour before our main dish arrived. The Man Steaks were served with a serving of fries, a cream spinach and a coleslaw mixed with horseradish. Both side dishes were amazing the spinach was really good and the coleslaw with horseradish was a real surprise, it was fresh and a little spicy. However the main dish for which we had spend over an hour waiting was medium rare and not what we asked for rare. When we confronted the staff the quickly got us new steaks within 5 minutes, which is how much time it takes to bake one by the way. The staff was friendly although I had the feeling that the staff didn't always knew where to go, twice a waiter came to our table with food we did not order. It's very apparent that this is a new restaurant that needs to work out the bugs. Waiters with paper btw are seriously out dated and a digital system should be put in place making sure the staff actually knows where they need to go. All in all the food is good, but the time we had to wait was absurd. I will definitely think twice before coming back. read more
