They will sell you defective products and won't exchange, reimburse, or provide any compensation for the loss of money. We purchased an item that did not work out of the box. We immediately called the store to ask what to do. They provided us with a video and phone call to explain the battery installation, apparently incorrectly. We went back to exchange it or get something for the defective product. He did nothing but told us WE broke it and, at best, would give us 50% off a new purchase. Oh, and said we could try to get a refund with the manufacturer ourselves. Your business is the worst customer service. Don't expect working products when purchased here or any reasonable exchange policy for defective products sold on their shelves. read more

The staff is friendly, non-judgmental and helpful. They are great to give recommendations and have included their personal favorites. The facility is clean (although at times too warm) but in comparison to others I have been to, The Riv is almost upscale in comparison. First off, the store itself is alright. There's plenty of toys and lingerie to choose from. There's even plenty of books and dvds. The stuff looks new compared to the adult store on state street (since a lot of there stuff seems to have been on the shelves for a while). My biggest issue was management. I'm not completely comfortable in adult stores to begin with (but my bf convinces me anyway). When I walk in, the guy at the front desk forces me to hold my purse behind the counter. I didn't throw a huge fit because I did take of my valuables before handing him it. I have not encountered this at any other place when I've had this purse. After browsing, having a few laughs, and not really finding anything eye-catching, we decide to leave. So I ask for my purse back. Things got worse as I began to feel interrogated on why I didn't buy anything. The guy was just waaaaaay too hands on, and some people (like me) don't feel the need to tell you any aspect their sex life. I was mortified. You couldn't pay me to go back there. read more

I always shop for these types of things online for the sake of anonymity. But I had read some reviews here on Yelp and figured I'd try a retail store. The reviews were right - this is a very nice store. Brightly lit, well stocked, big selection, and very clean. It's not what you'd expect if you're expecting creepy. The guy at the desk greeted me as I entered the store and ~causally~ asked me if I needed any assistance finding anything. No pressure sales, no hovering. I had actually left my reading glasses in the car and when he saw I was straining to read a label he offered me his spare glasses! I am very impressed with this shop. They have a good selection, and the associate was tactful and kind :). I told her my budget and she did her absolute best to get me to it without going over, it became a bit of a game! Came here on a whim with a girlfriend one night. The store is very clean and has a ton of products. The sales associate was very helpful and professional. If you go on a Wednesday (Hump Day) you get 20% your purchase! They do ask to hold your bag/purse up front when you walk in so you don't knock things off the shelves. read more

I like this place - employees are super sweet and not at all creepy, variety of items, store is clean and discreet, and good items. I shopped here recently for a bachelorette party and dropped about $100. There are some items I think they should never accept as a return the moment the item walks out the door. However, I had one Bachelorette Party item that I came to return that had never been opened, and only a couple weeks after I bought it, for $20. They said absolutely no returns. While I understand, I try to shop locally. If the local shops don't have a return policy and now I'm out $20, I'm not coming back for these types of items. Next time there's a Bachelorette Party, I'll shop on amazon or another retailer where I can return such items. Don't know if not giving me a refund for $20 is really worth losing a customer over for these types of items, which is the l my reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars. read more
