    Dún Laoghaire

Made the call…read more 'Story?' 'Not much.' 'Food?' 'Let's do it.' 'Type?' 'Burger?' 'Durty burger?' 'Durty burger & chips?' 'You know this.' Dun Laoghaire is so darn cute. A seaside town. I love the smell of salty sea air, gets the appetite going. We went to Miami. I have no idea why it's called Miami and it's been there donkey's years. I guess back in the day it was rather exotic to call a place Miami. It's about as Miami as I am black. But the chips were good! Proper home-made chips. Staffed by Italian Irish so you know it's gonna be good. The interior is an old-school diner. I got the Miami King burger, my friend got the quarter pounder. My King looked like a servant next to hers... Odd and equally offensive, I wanted to be the King for a moment. The burger was decent but the chips were good! Simple comfort food. They do not take cards!!!!!

The Miami has been around for years, like Bobby Robson, and it's had a bit of a checkered past,…read morelike Bobby Robson. Formally one of the finest chippers in Dublin, the Miami went down hill for a few years at the start of the noughties. Thankfully, the rot was stopped and she's now returned to her best. Personally though, I think €2.50 is a bit steep for a bag of chips. And I prefer mine a bit thicker cut anyway. But I suppose that's the premium they have to charge for being on the mainstreet. There is one other thing they have in common with Bobby Robson, the madness. There's a sign on the back wall telling us that the Miamis poultry is supplied by a company called Pidgeon Ltd. I asked yer man about it but he was as confused as I was.
