Horrible hole in the wall. No ventilation. Place was empty during a weekend lunchtime. We were told that the tri tip was medium rare. It was medium well. Ribs were mostly fat. Should of followed my hunch and went to Nessy's whose line was into the parking lot. read more

We ordered the sampler plate with 6 meats, but upgraded it for $7.50 so it could feed my family of five and it was plenty of food. Don't underestimate this unassuming spot on the left-side corner of a modest strip mall with only four tenants: three eateries and a small market. I'm from Texas so I know brisket, and I am damn serious about it! The brisket was perfect! Smoked to perfection, my brisket hit 5 stars on all the important qualities that make a great brisket: 1. tender 2. juicy 3. smoky 4. fatty (proper fat rendering) 5. flavorful rub 6. good exterior bark 7. firm texture Only minor drawback for any true Texans: they didn't have pickles or jalapeños. But that was an easy fix -- I went to the burger place at the opposite end and got them there. Haha. Also grabbed a Mexican Coca Cola at the market. I will definitely come back if traveling up or down the I-15 corridor. Hell, I may just come back for the brisket. I live in San Diego and would consider the drive worth my while. read more

I've never been to the Rib Shack prior to today. The young lady who took our order is very kind & helpful! Giving great recommendations & was very welcoming/friendly. I ordered the Tri-Tip Sandwich & Mac n Cheese, both were very delicious! Good to have a local BBQ shack our little town. They also offer a variety of old fashioned bottled sodas which is pretty cool! 10/10 would recommend. Remember to support local businesses when you can, they usually have the best customer service! We were excited to try this well rated bbq joint today...unfortunately the staff is extremely rude and not helpful. The food ended up being decent, though extremely fatty meat and very smokey. When I called in my order it took several attempts to get them to answer the phone. The website wasn't working so I had to ask about the menu which seemed to bother them...and upon pick up they were very rude and didn't want to sell us more food as the portions are very small. Hopefully they upgrade their attitudes and offer local customers a service that makes them want to come back. For now Firehouse is much better and super friendly staff. read more

I like hot food when it's served but can't seem to get that here, the flavor is good I ordered the rib sandwich and a side of macaroni n cheese. When I first bit my sandwich it could taste the flavor and tenderness of the ribs but it was luke warm to hot and my Mac n cheese same luke warm it'd be nice if when they are served they piping hot specially the Mac I like the cheese melted but hey I ate it fast cause I was starving. Another issue I have is when a customer is waiting to order how about a little greeting Hi can I take your order, just looking at them is so unprofessional. Ordered the brisket and pork ribs today with a side of potato salad and slaw with peach cobbler. Brisket was juicy with great texture and flavor. The pork ribs were dry rubbed on the outside with a firm skin. Inside was juicy and the meat fell off of the ribs. The outside eating area smelled great and I wish I could have eaten near the smoker. Peach cobbler was a delicious treat. I wish the to-go containers were foil instead of styrofoam. The meal came with one roll, but 2 or 3 would have been better with the big slab of brisket. read more

Fantastic amazing BBQ! I had to go to Fallbrook to take care of some real estate business and after I finished showing some homes I was starving. I was in the middle of town and after looking through Yelp I found this place which is in the same parking lot as Nessy's. I have to say I was really surprised by this place. BBQ really is hit or miss, and I'm not often impressed by many BBQ places. Unfortunately they were out of Brisket & Tri-tip that day. These were the 2 items that I wanted so that was a little disappointing. They were currently in the smoker and they weren't going to be ready for awhile. I got the rib plate which came with 6 ribs, 2 sides, and a dinner roll. They have 2 types of BBQ sauce, their original, and their sweet bold sauce. The ribs come dry and you slather the sauce on yourself. I wasn't really too impressed with their original sauce but the sweet/bold was quite good. The ribs themselves were obviously smoked and had a really nice smoke charged outside layer. Fall off the bone doesn't even begin to describe these things. I literally barely even touched the rack and the rib bones practically melted right off th meat. The rib meat is juicy and extremely flavorful. You can taste the smoke in the meat and it's delicious. I devoured them like a starving man. The sides were good too. I got their french fries and baked beans. They offered a nice selection of bottled root beer as well inluding Virgil's. Unfortunately they were out of stock on the Virgil's so I didn't have the chance to try it. I guess it's a big seller and they go through it quickly. The lady cashier was very nice and personable. I chose to eat inside and had a nice chat with her while I was eating. The decor inside is nice. It's a very small place but tastefully decorated. Pricing is about what you would expect for the level of quality. I think it might be a a little on the high side compared with what I'm used to seeing but with this level of quality it's worth every penny. Only suggestion is to add a few more side options. They only offer french fries, potato salad, coleslaw, beans, and okra (I think). I'm not a fan of potato salad or coleslaw. I was really hoping for some nice homemade macaroni and cheese but they don't offer it. I will definitely be back in the future anytime I am in Fallbrook! read more

Tri tip is very good. I keep going back to try something different and see the tri tip and order it every time. The only thing I am not liking lately is this new trick while using the Square to take my debit card, the next screen I was giving only gave me three options of percentage to add to my bill as a tip.
