Six years later, my driver's side headlight bulb (or ballast) finally gave out. The first place I thought of getting a replacement from; was the place I originally purchased my HID kit. There was no hesitation that I would return to TRS. After some quick research, I found how far technology has come and settled on some Morimoto LED bulbs (they call them fog lights but what you do with your purchased product is your own liability). Not only was the kit much cheaper than I paid 6 years, ago but the install was seamless, and I got the same fast turnaround customer service you would expect from TRS. Will NEVER order from the retrofit source again. My order came with missing hardware required to assemble the projectors. Called 2 days ago to get the hardware sent out. Still no update and when I spoke to 3 different people they don't seem to care and their answer was I have to wait days maybe weeks to get the hardware. Don't waste your time or money with this company! Horrible customer service and accountability for sending me parts without the hardware and giving me no eta on when they will arrive. I've spent almost $600.00 on Hid headlight kits for my truck in under three years. 2 hid kits. First failed in first year. Second set just failed. And now I just spent another $200.00 on a led kit since the Lumen HID kits I keep getting all fail all the time. Constant issues or not turning on. And now failure. I've emailed the company many times And they won't even address my issues. Or offer some type of refund or discount on the LED kit I had to just buy for $200.00. They do not have my back. Even after I have recommended their business to a ton of people on truck forums etc. very disappointed at this point. And would hope they come through. But doubtful at this point. TRS has the best lighting options for my 08 Yukon Denali. I bought a pair of cheaper headlights from a popular headlight brand and they were horrible! Leaked, faded and were less bright than the stock headlights. TRS LED headlights and fog lights are not cheap, but the quality and performance is phenomenal! I have started a warranty claim with THE RETROFIT SOURCE for a purchase I made in 2022. Claim was made on 10/7/23 case #881059. I have provided everything required including setting up an account with all contact info including a Visa card on file for the warranty temporary hold until they receive the defective parts back. But The company has gone dark. Zero response. I've called twice 10/11/23 and 10/12/23 and was told on both calls your order will be processed within 15 min after the order ahead of me??? So today is 10/13/23 well over 15 mins. In fact 2 days from the 1st call and 1 day from the 2nd Call. I just want The Retrofit Source to honor there products. I bought a set of Morimotto led fog lights for my car. When the lights arrived they were defective. One light was always stuck in the down position and could only be adjusted up as high as 3 feet in front of my car. The other light was stuck in the up position and never adjusted down, always pointed up way in the sky. I emailed customer service at TRS and they said there is nothing wrong with the lights. They said I was adjusting wrong. They asked me to send them a photo proof. I sent them a picture of the lights shinning at my garage wall. They informed me that I had to pay for shipping to return the lights and a restocking fee. I said I will not. I already had to pay for shipping to my house. Pay a restocking fee. And now pay for a return shipping fee. Plus I had to break off the original bolts to remove the old fog lights. So I was going to have 2 holes in my bumper for 8 days or so with exposed wires. I told the guy I was going to dispute the charge with my credit card company. He told me not to threaten him. Very bad customer service with bad and defensive attitude. If you research their reviews online, apparently they pay their employees to write good reviews about TRS. read more

You might wait a while to get in touch with them by phone but that means they're busy taking time giving customers good service. I purchased a Morimoto xb HID kit from them years ago. Recently, one of my headlights went out so I called them for help. They took their time to walk me through the troubleshooting steps and sent me a relay to fix the problem. Upon installing the relay, the headlight still did not work. I ultimately found that the issue was an igniter. I called again and they sent me the part, no questions asked. I was just out of my warranty period but they were cool enough to send me both replacement parts free of charge. This is my second set of HIDs from TRS for a separate vehicle. They have the best selection and prices. I always recommend my friends to buy from TRS and not from ebay where the lights aren't tested and won't last. read more

I rated this store three stars only because the HID lights and ballast kit I told to buy from their salesman was the wrong fit for my car. Their system said it was the correct size for my car but The HID lights would not clamp into the headlight lamps. I went to a professional installer to have the kit installed. Even though the store is high end customization their prices are reasonable so I didn't mind driving a great distance to get to the store. However, due to their mistake it was a wasted trip(there and back). Even though the lights did not fit, the cost of the HID kit I purchased was equivalent to the cost of just the lights alone at AutoZone. I ended up just switching back to regular headlights. Problem solved. In reading some of the other ratings regarding the short life of Retrofit's HID lights, HID lights should last for many many years before replacing as did the previous one's I purchased and had installed in Los Angeles. The ones from Retrofit didn't fit so I cannot speak on the longevity of their HID lights. The best part of this experience was that the return was no problem at all. The customer service that I received from the original sales person and from the person servicing my return was nothing less than excellent. I lost my receipt and it had been several weeks since the purchase. No problem at all, I was in their system and that's all they needed! My service with TRS has been abysmal. I spoke with a representative via chat after placing my order because I was scared that the harness I ordered wasn't the correct one for my truck after doing some research. The representative assured me that I ordered the correct harness and all was well. Once my order arrived I opened the packaging and find out that they sent me the wrong shroud for my projector and that I'd have to pay the return shipping and a restocking fee to get the correct projector back. So I decided to just use the shroud that they sent me. After spending all weekend finishing the retrofit into my headlights I install them into the truck only to find out that the harness that the representative swore to me was correct wasn't going to work with my truck. So now I have to pay return shipping, a restocking fee, and be without any headlights at all for the next week because I trusted the expertise of the agent that I spoke with. Not one person I've talked with through this has ever made any form of an apology or taken any kind of accountability on the companies behalf for all these issues. I truly cannot remember the last time I experienced service as bad as I have here. read more

Got a Morimoto Elite kit for my Sonata from their online store. The kit was top quality and the instructions made it super simple to install (I'm not a car guy, but I like to tinker). The bulbs actually fit better in my car and are easier to take on/off than the stock ones! Anyway, after over 2 years I got a constant flicker in one of my lights. TRS support got back to me super quick and was very helpful in troubleshooting. We discovered the part having issues and they sent me a new one almost immediately. The kit worked flawlessly up until this point and sometimes things just break down - these are aftermarket kits after all. Wish more companies had support this great. read more

Super slow shipping on a warranty replacement of a simple burned out bulb

I bought fog lights from their closeout section. One arrived with a broken mounting tab. They said that is classified as a "very minor cosmetic imperfection" and would not help me with this. I had to epoxy it back together, and I hope it holds. Consider this when buying from the closeout section. I also bought a headlight set from the closeout section. It arrived completely broken... the insides ratted. They asked me to send them a video to prove it. I did, and they said to "destroy it"; and said a replacement would be sent to me. Then, after I trashed it, they told me their policy actually requires a picture, and not a video. Now I need to dig through my trash bins to take a picture? What if trash pickup was yesterday? I'm furious. I have a feeling they will keep my money, and I'll have a broken light for it, but I'll let you know either way. I will never shop at this store again- that I do know. ------ update----- My 13th email to them detailing how furious I was, resulted in a replacement light. I've had products from TRS for a while, I don't shop often but I can tell that every time I shop for products they get better and better. For example; I bought the H1: MORIMOTO XB HID a while back and bought a newer set to replace them and the re-design is way better that before. Much easier to maintain. The HID bulbs used to have a permanent wiring loom attached to the back of the bulb and the new design allows you to unclip the wiring from the HID bulb which allowed easier fitment and access while working on my headlights. Also the new HD Relay 9006 is way better than the old one. Again TRS is making better products and i'm so happy i've been taken care of. I ordered the Morimoto Motoho1ders to replace the spring clip retainers on my Morimoto HID lamps. What they sent me was the same spring clips that come with the lights. I called and told them I had the wrong parts. The asked me to send them a photo of what I received. I sent them that photo plus photos from their web site showing what it was that I wanted. How simple can it be? Received an E-mail stating that everything was taken care of and the right parts will be shipped. Two days later I receive my package. Guess what? That's right they sent me the same spring clip retainers. Evidently they don't carry or don't know what the Motoho1ders are and just have photos of them. read more

So after reading all the so call great reviews online from their website and other forums, I decided to order from TRS. I ordered the H11b morimoto elite HID system and the morimoto XB LED. The XB led was okay, their not consistent of where they attached the led bulbs on the base, but at least the high beam works so I kept the thing The H11b bulbs were sent with bulbs that says H9 instead of H11b. I called TRS and Charlie said "it's actually H11b with misprint of H9 on it." Jamiele sent me an email assuring "that the H9 and H11 are 100% identical." I've then decided to give it a try and the H9 did not fit in the housing perfectly because it won't twist in all the way. Oh and there are no instructions on how to install these lights if you're a newbie. So one side of the light kept turning off. When it stays on for a short period, I can see a shadow line on the lights on the ground. I called them and complained about the lights turning off and their reply was can I send them some pictures because I could be installing it wrong. At this time I was a little irritated because they try so hard to get me to keep trying. I got fed up and sent the kit back. (You pay for shipping) So after waiting a few days I called them again and Jack picked up the phone confirmed to me that one of the cables were not working properly so that's why one of the bulb kept going out. (He was polite) So TRS finally decided to refund partially of my money and took 20% restocking fee even though their stuff didn't work properly the first time and I have to pay for shipping. Now my thinking is, Oh well, at least I got some money back and don't have to deal with their sh1t again. Update: I ordered xenon depot's extreme hid kit from xenondepot.com and they have free shipping, very helpful, comes with instructions (for newbies) and they have separate harness with a fuse on each side instead of a dual single sided one like TRS. read more

I purchased headlights from The Retrofit Source and after installed I noticed that one was defective. I contacted The Retorfit Source about the issue and that's when this horrible experience started. With 24hr delays in response even when I would reply instantly after they would contact me and countless trouble shooting emails which took over a week just because they took forever to reply back (Literally could have been done in an hour) The headlight was deemed defective. They asked me to send it back and for some reason I thought they would cover the cost but how was I wrong. They made me pay over $100 to send the defective light back and 5 days after its been received at their RMA center they are telling me that it has not been checked in. They have no regard that not only did I pay over $1500 for this light but I also had higher expectations for a company when I spend this amount of money. Their excuse of the delays is being short handed due to covid. No company should over extend themselves to make a quick buck! If you have met the capacity that the company can handle purchases then stop selling! They have no regard to the customers time, feelings, money and what stress you put us through. read more

I've been ordering from these guys for a few months now. As far as their products go, my only complaint goes to the Mini D2S projector. A customers projector has been stuck in the high beam position and now I have to get into the headlight and fix the issue. That is not okay. Also, Zach is the only friendly customer service rep I have talked with (new guy answering the phone is friendly as well). Everyone else responds in a rude and rushed manner. THE WORST THING OF ALL... they do not notify you or have any kind of way of letting you know when they are OUT OF EFFING STOCK! I constantly make orders for my customers with set appointments up to 2-3 weeks after ordering their parts. What happens? Parts get back ordered and my customers will either need to reschedule or cancel and have their money refunded. The only reason I still order from them is because I have not found a distributor that carries all the products they do. If anyone has any recommendations I'm all ears! read more

I was informed that they could not find my order, but once the package was delivered they would replace the bulbs free of charge. The Retrofit offers flexibility, I have sent them a picture of the Orange (Yellow) HID i purchased from them and explained to them how I do not have anywhere to work on my car at the moment to remove the Bulb and "disable" the bulb by simply cutting it. and yet they make no effort to send me a replacement. if I had the Replacement Light bulb I could have had it replace. As opposed to removing the one that is on there now and leaving a hole for moisture to enter the housing. Let down. not to mention this is the 3rd attempt at getting Truly yellow Bulbs. They always end up orange or even close to pink. 1 Star on their 3k Temperature HID kits. The place to go for aftermarket HID and projector parts. Plus their Morimoto XB LED bulbs are pretty sweet, too-- and they come in some sizes/colors that the major OEM names (Philips, OSRAM/Sylvania, etc.) don't seem to offer. I wish I could grab their stuff more easily on Amazon, but honestly if you need to spend a decent amount of money on ballasts or something else, paying for shipping here isn't too bad. For retrofitters, you do have to have a through understand of what you need and what you're buying-- seriously, do your research for your specific vehicle as well as the retrofit parts you plan to use before you buy. Saves tons of headache or additional orders for bits you thought you didn't need, but turns out you did need in the end! read more

1st time use of this company. TRS came highly recommended from a motorcycle forum group I participate in. Ordering was fast and almost error free. A misunderstanding on my part caused a misorder... Make sure you understand right or left hand drive item choices are based on drivers position in the car.... NOT the side of the road you drive on. This is my only complaint for the company.. While Im sure it makes perfect sense, and perhaps works for most customers.. using the seated position in the car to describe what side of the road you drive on is not intuitive to all.
