The rating is half a star. They eventually refunded the cost. Replacing An OEM screen is a big deal. An iPhone is expensive. When a phone is still under warranty - one of the rules is it must be replaced by an authorized dealer. Awesome. Easy right? Oh, totally wrong. This came with a serious lesson. One that should be passed on. Searching internet and finding listings that say authorized is one thing but are they actually is another. Discovering anyone can throw this on their window is sort of scary. Calling this shop, assured repeatedly by the owner that indeed they are an authorized repair shop for Apple phones. Great. He said come on down they can fix it. In the end, he fixed my screen twice. The first time, fail. Constant fluttering on the screen. The second time, fluttering worse than the first time. Lesson number one, never believe it's a genuine screen when they charge 40 dollars and it's 2oo bucks at Apple. Assured it was a genuine screen and yet twice it was, in fact, an absolute not. Tired and frustrated at customer service. At one point, accused of being racist when I came for an appointment to repair my phone. The associate did not believe me even when the owner was on speaker phone telling him to fix it. Unbelievable. A couple things transpired before he eventually refunded me the cost. I called Apple. Asked about this location, to my surprise told it was not authorized. The list is available of locations authorized on their site. Also discovered that this 'authorized' dealership is common. They received frequent complaints. I went into an authorized Apple shop and immediately upon flashing my phone they could see I did not have a genuine OEM screen. This repair nullified my warranty. I was furious. I told them experience at the shop I was at and was told unfortunately they had heard this before. So I paid out of pocket for a new OEM. After discovering the fabrications of this shop, I spoke with the owner and tried to be reasonable by explaining that what he had done was mislead a customer and I asked for my refund. Eventually, I received my money back. Left relieved but Not without checking with people in the surrounding the area (it sits behind a gelato shop. I know, kinda sketch but hey he said authorized .who am I to judge?) Apparently, there were others who were ripped off by this business and not just iPhones -androids too. Lesson learned. Go to an authorized dealer from a list found on the Apple website. Talk to one of their reps if you have a concern. As a side note, when returning, that authorized sign - mysteriously disappeared. read more

Our old Wii console (from 2006) was not working reliably and we almost considered it kaput. Stopped reading the game discs consistently. Found the Repair Store and took it in Jan 28th, 2022 for assessment - recommended replacing the drive ($90 total). We went for it as the game console is also sentimental. Next day it was ready to pick up and it works fine now!! Thank you! We're enjoying playing our Wii retro games again with our kid! read more

Last night, the speaker on my Blackberry Torch died. Coming as it did on day eight of a 12-day work-week, three days after my wallet was stolen, I was *not* in a happy place to try and figure out how and when I was going to find the time to get a new phone. Most people tell me don't bother to repair a phone, just get a new one, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I looked for phone repair places on here and there was nothing near me, so Googled it, and came across these guys. They have a lot of glowing references on their website, but I couldn't find impartial reviews online so had a bit of skepticism. Figured after backing up the phone they couldn't make it *much* worse, so I'd give them a try. SO glad I did. For many reasons. - their hours are amazing - they are open until 10pm many days. - their service was incredibly speedy; in and out in about 20 minutes. - staff are friendly, personable, amusing, they'll chat with you while you wait and treat you like they actually give a damn about their customers. (What a concept, hunh?) - Alex, the technician who worked his wizardry on my phone, is an adorable hoot. We're both Jewish, and Jews like to tell stories. He worked so fast I couldn't even finish my story! And most importantly, their prices are fabulously reasonable. New external speakers for my Torch, including labour, $39+HST. Compared to buying a new phone, heck, there's no comparison! Not that I can't honestly say I hope I never see these guys again, but if I have any other problems with my phone, I'm back there in a flash. They're located in the back of the Gamarama store; I asked why I couldn't find them on Yelp, they explained that because of their location, their reviews on here all fall under Gamarama. So here I am putting them in their own spot because they are completely worthy of finding by their lonesome. read more

I've got no complaint about the repair, but it took far longer and cost more than 5 times the estimate they gave me. On first coming in, I dealt with a pretty blunt, uninterested guy who said the repair would cost around $20. That seemed incredibly low and I definitely expected more than that, but the ultimate price tag was over $100. They said the repair would take 24-48 hours... and maybe it did, except they never called me as promised to tell me it was finished. They may know what they're doing technically, but the customer service leaves something to be desired. read more

I had a Blackberry Passport with a broken charging port I needed it fixed. On the recommendation of the rep from Blackberry's on-line store, I called this shop, told them what the issue was, and asked if they could fix it. The answer I got was yes - just bring it in and they'd have it fixed in about an hour. I drove over an hour from Kitchener, and when I got there around 1PM, the reception I got was almost hostile - they didn't know I was coming, who did I talk to, what phone number did I call, they didn't have the part and they wouldn't have it until around 4:30PM, got on my case for talking to the tech. Considering this shop also sells and services video games, maybe the attitude goes with the target demographic. Since I couldn't wait that long and I was going to be back in town a few days later, I told them I'd leave it. I also asked if I could pick it up earlier on the day I returned, and a guy (I think the owner) told me he had other things to do in the morning and wouldn't be in until 10 AM, so an early AM pickup wouldn't happen. When I was back in town, I had to drive through the middle of Toronto traffic to get to the shop, and when I arrived I was told it wasn't fixed as they couldn't get the part. They didn't call me or communicate in any way that the repair wasn't done before hand so I could look for other possible shops that could get this fixed. The end result was about five hours of driving with a "no repair" result. I have no idea how they do with other units, as far as Blackberry Passports are concerned, they're not an option I'd ever recommend, particularly since Blackberry has a factory repair location in Cambridge which I'd highly recommend sending your Passports to instead. read more
