After my last experience here, I probably won't be coming back. Sad to say after so many years. I rented a 100 foot drain router and had an absolutely horrible time with the machine. Just about blew out my back completely. The problem is that it's a very heavy device, and the cable is extremely heavy as well, it's really hard to manually pull it from the machine as it's spinning which you have to do with the machine that they rent here. If you're lucky and get a good rental unit, it has a gear that actually drives the cable through your pipe both in and out and you don't have to do all the work with your back and arms. I had an issue getting my cable back into the machine, and when I called about it, they said they would charge me for labor, even though I had insurance. So I ended up destroying an afternoon and my back putting the thing back together - look for a better rental store, at least for this type of thing. read more

I have used the Rental Place many times for renting vans and trucks for dump runs. Prices are relatively low versus paying someone else to haul your junk or using another rental service. The staff are very friendly and give you accurate estimates for mileage and happy to answer any basic questions I've thrown at them. I have also rented a few tools in the many times visiting The Rental Place and never had any issues with use and or returns. Highly recommend for any U Haul usage or renting of tools. read more

If it moves, hauls, cuts, grinds or isn't in your tool chest or shed they probably have it at The Rental Place. I have rented skip loaders, tractors, concrete cutters, jack hammers and compressors and they have all been in great condition. The one time a skip loader broke down on me they went out of their way to get a guy here on site to fix it. Great customer service and fair pricing. read more

They bailed on me for a truck reservation the day before a big move, and didn't do anything to resolve it. Additionally, I had purposefully rented a truck that belonged to the site so as not to run into this type of problem from a one way truck that doesn't show up. The $50 guarantee really doesn't compensate for the disaster created by losing your guaranteed moving truck one day before a move. Totally unreliable. read more

I was bummed to find out they are not longer supplying U-Box containers from this location (U-Haul website has not updated their information yet), however I was saved on a Sunday afternoon when I found out they were still open and had many of the items I desperately needed for upcoming move. The staff here is incredibly helpful, over the phone and in person. Both times I've called, I have received friendly service and answers to all my questions. When I purchased several items during my last visit, one of the team members offered and happily loaded everything into my car for me. Customer service like this is very hard to find and I was so grateful since I've been suffering from some neck pain. They have a nice little selection of the essential U-Haul packing materials such as boxes, bubble wrap, newsprint paper, dish saver kits, mattress bags and more (great prices too). They even have additional household items for outdoor home care separate from moving stuff. The local hardware store did not have these packing items, so I'm very grateful for The Rental Place here in Sonoma. I will be stopping by again soon for additional packing materials. read more

I rented a generator and spider box from the Rental Place in Sonoma. They reserved a 20 kw for me, then switched it at the last minute to a 10 kw. They also neglected to tell me that the spider box they provided only had twist-lock plugs, not normal ones--despite me asking this on the phone, and told me the generator was a Whisperwatt when in fact it was a far inferior model. Then, the generator died on us mid-event. The throttle kept closing after a short amount of use. The Rental Place has refused to issue even a partial refund, despite the fact that their generator failed on us mid-event (and the event was only a day long). The equipment we received was faulty, old, and in poor repair. I cannot recommend that anyone take their business here. read more

I've rented several items from this business over the fourteen years I've lived here and have found that they do not maintain their equipment, i.e. chippers, cutting tools etc. However, they are the only close rental place for folks who live in the Valley. I have an acct. at Hertz, formerly Big Four Rents for over 30 years and have found their equipment very good. read more

don't think about towing anything from here, you will have to bring a tractor truck or be forced into renting a truck from them that has the same tow rating as your average half ton. uhaul must have a new insurance carrier and the bumped the tow ratings to decrease liability. sad used to do a lot of business at the old location read more
