I just had a wild hair to pull off the side of the road to have a dive burger. And let me tell you,…read moreit was divine. I ordered the jalapeño poppers, which was kind of a fusion thing. It was popper stuffed egg rolls. Secret cheeses and diced peppered, deep fried in the wrap. Really really good and unique. I had to try the Bacon Macaroni and Cheese burger. It was really incredible, coming from a restaurant in a town with a population of 300+ folks. The burger was thick, and perfectly cooked. Not too dry, with a slightly juicy light pink center. The Mac and cheese and the bacon crumbles were so good and the potato roll was soft and I just loved it . I could only eat half, the rest is coming on the plane ride home. I don't know when I will be back, but I'm glad I stopped!! I wish them luck! PS: The sweet tea was perfect too, for a hot summer day and the cool breeze of ND. Friendly service, unsuspecting amazing food!

Unfortunately their cook was hospitalized and their kitchen was closed so we went to the other option in Max: Pour Choices Bar and Grill - formerly The Max Cafe. Pour Choices Bar and Grill was having their Grand Opening Weekend so we decided to eat lunch there. My buddy ordered an Aloha Burger which he said was just ok but he said the fries were great. I ordered the Chicken Wing Basket they were excellent, very nicely rendered and crispy. I ordered garlic parmesan wings and they had very good flavor and even with the garlic parmesan they remained crispy and delicious. The wing basket comes with fries and cole slaw but don't get the waffle fries unless you want a $3 up charge! We ate in the bar and it was dimly lit and I didn't see that the waffle fries was an upcharge, I thought it said the wings came with waffle fries and cole slaw but they assured me when charging that the menu said it was extra... 4 Stars for the wings but minus one for the food taking a very long time... 35-40 minutes to come out and it wasn't that busy but I'd still recommend eating there but YMMV. We'll definitely make another drive to Max and try out the Red Light next time. One thing that does bother me is the waitress just announced the bill total without presenting a printed bill for the customer to examine and then pay. I had to ask for a printout and I think that should be a given. $14 wings and a $3 Pepsi turned out to be $21+ because I didn't see the fine print about the waffle fries. They were very good waffle fries but had I known I wouldn't have opted for the extra $3 charge as the regular fries would have been plenty good to have as well.

They put a table together for us on arrival, as it wasn't yet prepped. The place was hopping but not completely slammed. We were given slips of paper and a quick run down on the Wednesdays night steak special. Mark your desired stesk temp, add your name & number, pass over the attached drink ticket for the included domestic beer or well drink. Wait staff was upbeat and friendly. Though service wasn't super speedy, it was accurate. Additional drinks were provided before we were empty. The ribeye was cooked correctly and well-seasoned. We were provided baked potatoes and access to the other sides- baked beans (excellent tri-bean recipe), macaroni salad (I skipped it) & corn. There were also condiments and sauces at the station. Restaurant was not reduced capacity, no masks, no sanitizer & patrons shared serving utensils. I'd say 3.5 stars overall. The price was reasonable and food was good. Drinks got stronger as the day went by. Server took a group pic as well, without us having to ask... that was awesome.

The way it works is that you order the steak cooked as desired. When the steak is done, you head to the side-serving table where you get your baked potato (butter, sour cream, sal, pepper, heinz 57 & A1 are available here) and self-serve up the remaining sides of home-made calico baked beans, macaroni salad & veggies. If you go away hungry, you only have yourself to blame. The steak was cooked as ordered. Service was good though not speedy. There were 7 of us &we tend not to rush, so, it worked well. It was a good value and I'd go back. I would also pile on more beans and skip the macaroni salad next time.
