This is my all time favorite breakfast place in town since I moved eight years ago. Tiffany is incredible and her entire staff. They treat my daughter so well and are always extremely attentive to our needs. The Tiffany meal is my fav. And the biscuits and gravy or traditional breakfast are my husbands go to. Friendly staff and helpful. Very fast service. Locally owned traditional downtown Main Street dinner feel that I grew up with. Breakfast was good, and what you would expect. Ordered the biscuits and gravy. They came piled on top of hash browns which I felt was a bit excessive but typical for the area. Could have used a side of fruit to cut the heavy meal. I went to Charlie's with my parents on a Thursday morning. We stepped in and chose to take our seat at a booth near the back of the restaurant. As far as I was aware there was only street parking available. The inside of the restaurant was not the most beautiful but it had a nice homey feel. The owner of the restaurant took care of us and suggested we start our day with the caramel roll! Although it is sugary it was great. My mom and I ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage and it came with a side of hash browns. I thought it was a really nice size meal and the breakfast sandwich made me feel at home. My dad ordered a breakfast of eggs, toast, and bacon and also really enjoyed it. The service was great! Everyone was very attentive and nice to us! This by far is one of my favorite mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall joints in Minot. They are famous for their hot, open-faced sandwich, or if you're from the South, better known as SOS. However, they are honestly more than that. From their breakfast options to their lunch menu and all the way to the desserts, this place offers an abundance of food both proportionally and categorically. Honestly, I can't say any more about that food than what others have already said except that you can't go wrong by trying this place out. My family and I have been here multiple times, and each time it's great. Beware, they can and do get extremely busy on the weekends, so come early especially on Sundays. Also, note their hours because they are not open as late as other restaurants are in the area. Enjoy! Maybe this place is better when it isn't absolutely packed! -I had the chicken fried steak, corned beef hash (if this had something other than hardened pieces of beef in it the rating would have been a 5). Chicken fried steak was amazing, cooked thoroughly with the peppercorn gravy! It was cooked to order and boosted the taste with a slight crunch even after being slathered in gravy! - the place wasn't packed which was awesome! The waitress was great, came back several times to check on us and refilled our drinks promptly. Overall I'll come back to this place, just not the weekend. Visited Minot and heard Charlie's is a staple for breakfast/brunch. The 'best hot beef' sign in front definitely caught my attention. Went with a big group about an hour before closing on a Sunday afternoon and we were seated immediately. The entrance had a bunch of articles posted on the wall about their amazing hot roast beef sandwich. We all agreed it wasn't the best we've ever had, but it was pretty good and worth trying. The menu also called out their chili soup as one of the best. Also pretty good and would order again. I got the melted tuna sandwich with a cup of Italian wedding soup and hot chocolate as my drink. The soup was delicious and the hot chocolate was rich. The tuna sandwich could've used an extra minute in the toaster to melt the cheese a bit more, but the toast was crisped to perfection. It was a fulfilling meal for a cold winter day. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the menu because there are a lot of options, but there's something for everyone so you can't go wrong here! read more

Nothing like Biscuits and gravy on a cool rainy fall morning. If that's your jam, then this is the spot. Charlie's on Main Street in Minot, ND hits the spot. Not 1 but 2 types of biscuits and gravy. Of course your regular with hash browns, but I elevated it to the B+G with sausage Pattie's. Yup- I know, there are bits of sausage in the gravy, but adding Pattie's on top of the biscuits and then the gravy. MONEY!!!!! BTW- the gravy is scratch made by Dad in the back. No joke- Pops makes it himself and it is perfect consistency and flavor. Hostess and server was awesome- she took time to chat and was very attentive. My husband and I decided to try something new today, some place we haven't gone or head of. We ended up here. We got sat down super quick. Waitress was sweet and nice, she offered us the last cinnamon roll. The food was awesome and delicious. Hands down the BEST HARSHBROWNS I've ever had. I've never been a fan of hash browns but O-M-G these hashbrowns were amazing, like they were fresh or something. Also, nice touch on actually putting butter on the toast Thank you. What a wonderful breakfast spot! We visited here on a Saturday morning around 10:30a. It was pretty busy but not too busy that we had to wait for a table. Being Minot, downtown is a little run down and the inside could be updated inside but it wasn't unclean or anything. It's exactly what you'd expect of a diner-atmosphere. Our waiter was friendly and efficient though speed could have been a touch quicker; however, I am keeping in mind the business of the morning. My husband and I split a caramel roll! Let me tell you: I've had a few different recipes and I don't like them. This place? This place has a return customer solely on their caramel roll! So delicious! Came here for breakfast right before a long road trip this morning and it was the fill up my boyfriend and I needed. I ordered the classic pancake breakfast which came with two pancakes (which I ordered with chocolate chips), 2 bacon strips (which were crispy, just the way I like them) and eggs (which I ordered scrambled). My boyfriend ordered the French Toast breakfast which came with French toast and a side (he ordered ham), and then he ordered an extra side of eggs. As for my meal, my only complaint is that the eggs were a little over cooked/tortured. As for my pancakes, the chocolate chips sank to the bottom of my pancakes. "Belly full of disappointment" were the exact words my husband said when we got home. We decided to try this place becuase his co workers talked about how great it was and when we walked it, it seemed like a decent amount of diners enjoying your meal so we definitely had some type of expectation of the place. There really isn't much of a system going on. Servers were sitting people and they didn't really keep track of who just came in and who still needed to pay. They were going to sit a woman and her child down and she told them she had to pay and the server went back to find her slip and another server came to the front and was going to sit that same lady down. We sat in the booth towards the back but I was facing the kitchen area so I saw everything. I hated being negative nancy and "tattling" to my husband everything I saw but I couldn't let it go. There needed to be some kind of wall that separated us from the staff, I was able to read things posted such as "no cell phones while working" or even a slip that said this person walked off with out paying. One thing I noticed that stopped me from drinking the water was. The man was bussing the tables and using a rag to wipe the tables. Then without washing his hands went to the back to get ice to replenish what was running out in the front. He would scoop the ice out and then serve people water. I watched this go on and on. He was touching the menus which no one thinks about but everyone touches. He ran his hands on the stools on the diner area (which were pretty discolored) and then back to wiping tables and handing out water. Someone came from the back to tell the servers something and I heard the entire conversation. It wasn't anything wrong but definitely needed a separation between the back and the front. Food was sub par at best. It was bland and I had to add so much salt and pepper to season it. Food should shine on it's own, you should be able to taste it without having to add all these extra condiments but this wasn't the case. If I were to be truthfully honest, I wouldn't go back here. Once is enough, i would just stay at home and make myself some breakfast. My husband had the Hot beef and he liked the first few bites but after awhile it's like, what was he really eating? Soggy fries and toast with gravy and some meat. With the kind of hype his coworkers built up, it was a let down. read more

If you are looking for a restaurant that serves delicious breakfast, Charlie's Main St. Cafe is your spot. I cannot say this enough but Charlie's is just amazing!!! They have so many different combinations of breakfast, sandwiches, dinner entrees, and dessert that I get super excited looking at their menu. Hence why I am at their restaurant at least 3 times a week whenever I am in Minot. Sadly we are under a strict rule of safer-at-home due to covid-19, thank goodness they do curb side takeout and deliveries. I love how they take all necessary precautions to make sure everyone is safe. I was so relieved to see the staff handle food with gloves and masks on. It really shows they care about the community!! Anyways, I usually order their combination breakfast (#8 and #12 are my most favorite), cup of soup (must try their knephla, corn chowder, mushroom barley!!), with slice of cherry pie or caramel roll. A pretty lack luster experience. We went for a late breakfast on Sunday the 18th. We were seated quickly. Then it went downhill just as quick. Two of our four water cups literally had lipstick on them. I ordered pancakes with scrambled eggs. The first bite of eggs had egg shell. As I spit them into my napkin I also noticed a black hair scrambled into them. The pancakes were cold enough that the fake butter didn't melt. The waiter offered to scramble more eggs. No Thank You. They should have taken my order off the tab. I own my business and I always make mistakes right. The owner rang me up and didn't as much as offer an apology. I told her she needs to tip the waiter from the full price she charged me for a disgusting cold unsanitary breakfast. NEVER AGAIN read more

I love a good diner. a place with comfy booths and good food. this is a place to go to. it's a rustic style diner with lots of wood logs and a cabin style interior. I ordered the Tiffany which was eggs and hash browns topped with sausage onions and peppers and a side of toast. this was very good. the coffee was also good. the bring you a carafe which I love. there is something about having an endless supply of good, hot , pitcher of coffee that is wonderful if you drink coffee. my husband ordered biscuits and sausage. no side dishes, which baffles me, but they offer eggs or pancakes. This was also very good. it was tasty home style food. Great service, food came quickly. you are not hurried, and I felt we could have hung out for a good while and just enjoyed sitting and talking. The Caramel rolls. are huge and so good. either save room or put in an order to go. do not skip this delicious gem. they are that good! soft, fluffy, and caramel. 1 feeds 3 people easily. This restaurant on Main Street is amazing. They're open extra hours/days/times right now due to this COVID-19 pandemic, and they're delivering at no extra charge (a HUGE plus for us as my brother can't drive), and they're knocking it out on all fronts! Tiffany is the owner. She took my order over the phone, made a number of great suggestions for meals, and is the epitome of "North Dakota nice." She is kind, funny, helpful, and twice expressed her appreciation for the order. The food was out for delivery in less than 15 minutes, they called my brother to let him know, and they texted me to make me aware. He ordered an all meat-omelet which was stuffed..... And enough for two "shelter in place" meals. Crisp hash browns, wheat toast...... Yum! My brother said it was outstanding! He also has a hot turkey sandwich on cranberry bread to look forward to later in the week. Charlie's is well known for their hot sandwiches with gravy......... It was a no brainier to include this. Finally........ When they delivered the order, they took a picture of my brother holding the goods! How cool is that?!?!? I miss that guy........ And really really want to share his meals! THE BEST BREAKFAST SPOT IN NORTH DAKOTA I absolutely love having breakfast at Charlie's Main St Cafe. Everything from the food, service, atmosphere, music is exceptional and they consistently hit it out of the park. I have tried almost everything on the menu and they continue to impress me every time!! First, this restaurant is located on Main St. in Downtown Minot. There are plenty of street parking right outside of the restaurant, which is really convenient because it can get a bit crowded. As soon as you walk through the restaurant doors, someone is always there to greet you and sit you right away. I would describe the menu as "Traditional American Breakfast with a modern twist." If I had to choose, my favorite would be the classic #1, B&G and the Tiffany scramble. Also, loving the new additions to the lunch menu, like their sweet potato fries and veggie burger, which are both to DIE FOR!! As i mentioned, this place can get really crowded during peak lunch times and weekends (locals know the best breakfast in town), but the Charlie's team is super efficient and quick to provide excellent customer service to everyone. The wait is never long and the food always comes out the same amazing quality...everytime!! If you are ever in Minot, I would highly recommend Charlie's for your breakfast needs.
