We stayed at the Riverdale High Lodge for the weekend and frequented Knight's Bar & Grill. We love this place! Apple and Jane were super amazing. When we found ourselves without a local breakfast spot (Spillway Coffee was closed for construction), the girls offered to make us breakfast off menu! The food and hospitality were unmatched. After a day of putting around on Lake Sakakawea with the family we wanted to grab a bite before meeting the rest of the family at the downstream campsite. This knights bar and grill is super unique in that it is located within an old high school and the building has been converted into a multi use building including a basketball court. We arrived just after 6:30 and it was pretty quiet inside. There was an area for the kids to do stuff with an activities table for tots, a deer hunter video game for older kids, pool table, darts, and one of those games where you push the pucks down to the other side with sand on the board like a cross between shuffleboard and curling. Pretty friendly fellow who was either the owner or manager greeted us. He also happened to be selling raffle tickets to which we of course obliged for the chance to win a can-am ATV and/or a Ruger 30 odd 6. The staff: very interesting. Each server seemed to be from abroad. For instance, our server "Susan" was from the Czech Republic and spoke little to no English. It was a point to what you want type of situation. The cool part is she took extra care to ensure we got what we ordered and was very sweet. In fact she did probably do a better job than many servers at other restaurants I've been to. Food: I really think the food was about what one should expect for this type of place. Certainly not fancy - it was good enough though. I ordered the grilled walleye (pictured) based on another review I read on Yelp by a guy who had done so many reviews. He was correct it tasted pretty good it's just the portion was very small. Didn't seem like all the value was there for $19. I got the tomato basil soup (pictured) which I probably wouldn't order again. The family ordered the breaded walleye and a black and bleu burger. Seemed like everyone happy with their meals. They had a decent variety of beers and did have the normal domestics you'd expect at a bar with some IPA samplings. If you are ever in that area wouldn't hurt to give them a try. read more

Totally average/adequate. I was dubious at best about this place on a Tuesday evening - it was almost totally empty. And the menu was one you'd see literally anywhere in the midwest (right off the Sysco food truck) with zero for vegetarians on it, however they were very accommodating when they left the meat off my meal which I always appreciate. The menu itself was dirty and old with new higher prices written in, and it looked like one you might see on Restaurant Impossible. After seeing that show, I'm a firm believer in offering just a few dishes or variations on dishes that you can do very very well - don't offer a ton of things you can't keep up with. Anyway, our waitress was really sweet and helpful. We were a party of six and she got everything we asked for correct. My salad was literally iceberg lettuce mix out of the bag complete with rotten pieces. I got the cheese tortellini with cream sauce - it's supposed to have bacon in it and they kindly left that out of mine with no hassle which I really appreciated. The tortellini was overcooked and the sauce was far too rich, but it really wasn't bad with some fresh black pepper. The two other gals at my table also got this dish (with bacon) and liked it a lot. The guys all liked their pasta dishes/burgers they got as well. I did try my husband's beer battered fries and they were great! read more

We attended the Ambulance Fundraiser. Imagine your expectation of the the food when they are planning on feeding 500. Knights Bar & Grill exceeded our expectations! In fact, they served the best prime rib I've ever eaten. It was thick, juicy, flavorful and cooked just right. Complimented with creamy crisp coleslaw and a giant baked potato made it a perfect meal. A coworker and I stopped in for a late lunch. I'm not sure what I expected, but the inside was actually nicer than I anticipated. There were 5 or 6 big screen TVs scattered around the room. The restaurant definitely has a small town feel to it! I ordered a chicken marinara sandwich, which was very good. My sandwich came with a pickle and a french fries. My co-worker had a patty melt, which he said was also very good. The service was fine, and overall it was a pretty good place to eat. I'll go back next time I'm in town. read more

If I could give a negative star, I would. This was the worst experience ever! We were staying at the lake with friends and decided that we all wanted to give this place a try for supper. There were 5 families all together, which with kids was a total of 22 people - the majority of the kids were between 7-15 years old, but we did have two 4-year olds. We got there shortly before 8pm. We realized that this could take longer due to the number of people in the group; however, we only had 1 waitress who spoke broken English wait on us. After she took our order, she took another order at the table next to us and then walked away. We didn't see her again for a long time. The kids weren't getting their drinks and we had to go up to the bar to order Sprites for all them after an hour wait and no waitress coming back to check on us. Two hours went by and we STILL didn't have our food. We had to go to the popcorn maker and give popcorn to the kids since they were so hungry and our waitress still didn't come around to check on us. The table that ordered after us had left by this point. Food started coming out close to 11pm and there were 3 other waitresses bringing out food. The first 3 plates were correct, but then after that they kept bringing us food out that no one ordered. We kept telling them that wasn't our food, but they insisted that it was and just dropped it off at our tables. There was 1 person who ordered a French Dip at our table, and they brought out 3 of them. There was supposed to be 3 orders of Mac and Cheese - we got 6 orders. There was supposed to be 2 Sirloin steaks, and we got 3 (1 of which they put in front of one of the kids and said they ordered it). My husband and I didn't even get our meal and another person in our group ordered a Philly Cheese steak, but she was given one of the French Dips and told that was correct. I asked to speak to the manager and when she came over I explained what was happening and we are disappointed and would like to see our bill but our waitress hasn't been seen in over 2 hours. We asked to see our waitress to find out what was going on and when she came to our table she told us "Yes, you ordered this" and kept telling us that we ordered all the food at the table - there was more food at our tables than there was even people, despite the fact my husband and I didn't even get our meal. So we asked to see the owner to discuss this and figure out what they are going to do. He (and his son) were both getting wasted at the bar! When we tried to tell the owner that we want our bills itemized so we can see what we are being charged with, he brought out the entire slip (that was over $380) and told us we needed to pay the bill and get out. We asked again for an itemized slip for each family and he threatened to call the Sheriff on us. We told him to go ahead and call the Sheriff and we will wait for him and our bills so we can pay and leave. I asked to move the discussion out of the restaurant area (which is shared with the bar) because locals who were drinking at the bar with the owners were now coming up to us and getting in our face. We WANTED to pay our bill and leave, but not pay for the extra food they kept bringing out to us. The owner's wife came out to allow us to go over the receipts and pay for what we got. After we paid for what we actually got, she stated, "There is $97 unaccounted for." We told her that was not our problem (the Sheriff agreed with us finally) and explained that there was another table next to us who left, and we actually don't remember them even having food. We didn't get out of there until midnight, and as we are leaving, the owner says to us, "I hope your kids don't grow up to be liars like you. And hopefully you have a designated driver to take you all home since you have all these kids with you". Unprofessional staff, the service was terrible, and we will NEVER recommend this place to anyone ever! read more

We have ate here several times and it was ok but this last time takes the cake. We got there at 8 PM with several kids. The Jamaican waitress was very rude to everyone. The kids got their drinks after about an hour. After waiting for 2.5 hours our food started to trickle in. Some of us didn't even receive our food. They brought extra food that we didn't order and when we told the waitress this she yells at us and said we did order it. The bill was $100 more than it should have been. We found the owner (who was wasted) and explained to him the problem and what does he do? Calls the sheriff for theft of services! We were trying to pay for what food we got (not for the extra food that we didn't order). He was not apologetic one bit (even though our kids sat there for 2.5 hours without eating). IMO the food we did receive was garbage. read more
