The first time I saw the show, I was in elementary school, but remembered it being a great deal of fun. We figured it would be worthwhile seeing again in my early 20s. The arena is conveniently located a few hundred feet away from Creek Street and by all the gift shops. There is a restaurant attached too, so you can easily get your fix of Alaskan crab. The crew does a great job of hyping up the crowd. Depending on the side of the arena you sit on, you will be chosen to represent either the US or Canadian lumberjack team. The announcer does a lot to rile up the audience and getting everyone hyped and cheering. At times, it can definitely be corny. It is corny in a family friendly way though. The work of the lumberjacks is insanely impressive. They're balancing on logs in water, throwing axes, climbing and carving wood. They are all super talented and strong! Fantastic eye candy too! Regardless of the cheesiness, everyone was having a great time!

It was still early in the day, so there weren't too many patrons in the shop. The store was quite large for a small town, so we spent a good amount of time walking through the place and browsing the shelves. While I read mostly non-fiction, I was pleased to find a section of fiction books written by local authors. I purchased one that was autographed and plan to enjoy it when I get back home. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the store was well organized and clean, with the all the shelves clearly labeled. This was the best bookstore we visited during our Alaskan trip.

So I reached out to them about these things. When contacted, they said there's no evidence of smoking in the car. Yeah maybe 90% of the renters adhere to the policy when it rained you could pick up that smell. You would think for $125+ a day plus taxes plus paying to get it from the airport into Ketchikan and back. Make it look like the car has been detailed once in its life or at least break out the carpet shampooer. Not asking for perfection I understand different standards, and different resources in Alaska, but Ketchikan has resources for a car detail. This was ridiculous considering they had comparable cars, much newer without the issues. When I contacted them, their response was well. It only has 31,000 miles and it rains 300 days a year, that's when they told me they were water spots not oil spots. Anyone who is spilled the two on a piece of fabric knows the difference. So rent locally.

Adult price $7 is considered high priced for the small space. It's really just a casual restroom stop onsite and reading about the Totem history and heritage which is unique in Alaska. We tried something new and walked the trail behind the Creek Street Salmon viewing area. There's walk along neighborhood streets and residential areas were filled with plenty to see back there. Not far. Staffs at Totem Heritage Center are welcoming and friendly. We walked down the opposite street near the yellow church while returning to downtown Ketchikan. Nothing fancy around the back streets of town since most people hang around the ships and downtown Ketchikan, but we were able to take lots of interesting photos. At least you can see Ketchikan homes along the routes. Easy pace and easy walk. If you're up for getting away from the touristic areas, then this area may be a good relaxing stop for you. You can see a good stretch of the salmon creeks behind the neighborhoods.

As part of this tour you get to taste all the products Uncharted make, which includes numerous Gin, Vodka, Agave and whiskey products while Travis is giving his presentation. Upon completion of his presentation we went upstairs to the "lab" to make our own personalized bottle of liquor where I ended up making an orange colander Agave. Such fun! If you have any interest in the distilling process and have ever wondered how liquor is made you should definitely give this excursion some strong consideration as you will not be disappointed. It hugs the bluffs that form the shoreline along the southwest corner of Revillagigedo Island, where we called our day 4 port of call. This is an island community where Alaska Native Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures; fishing traditions, history, and outdoor experiences shape everyday life. Just south lies Saxman Totem Village. My partner, his family, our friends, and I visited this location as part of a tour scheduled via the cruise ship. It's home to an extensive collection of 24 replica totems moved from abandoned villages as well as a replica Clan House and a Carving Center. The poles are not religious in nature but rather represent characters in a story or events in history. This isn't the only place in the area to see totem poles, but it is the only place where one also gets to see the carvers at work on their craft. The Clan House features a magnificent carving of a Beaver on the outside, and inside are four carved house posts as well as another large panel carving inside the building. There wasn't much walking involved, and we got to experience a wonderful cultural dance performance inside the Beaver Clan House. Our guide, Liam was really the star of the show. His storytelling and passion for the grounds were impressive. The park itself seems like a place worth seeing if one's interested in local history and culture.
