The lady working was so incredibly nice. We just stumbled across this place and went in and ended up being one of our most memorable stops in Alaska. My uncle is a former firefighter captain so he would have loved all the related decor; it was certainly unique. The drinks were tasty and I'm not a big cocktail person. I had one of their specials which was okay but my husband had their spicy cocktail and it was delicious. Wish we'd spent more time there.

My husband, daughter, and I stopped in here while in Port from a cruise and loved it! Spoke w/ the owner, a retired Ketchikan fire chief and enjoyed a couple fabulous drinks. Great place w/ nice folks!

Great service, I ordered the bees knees and it was delicious. Stop by and have a delicious drink!

The "laboratory" as I would call it.

Took a tour as part of my cruise to Alaska. You can tell the owners really enjoy what they do and are overall really good guys. The distillery process was interesting to learn about, but I wish I would have been able to see more of the facility. Lots of samples/opportunities for you to try their different vodkas. Kelp vodka sounds like it would be disgusting, but don't knock it until you try it! It was actually pretty good! For the second half of the tour you got to infuse your own vodka which was a lot of fun. My only star off is for wanting to see more.

What a great find this distillery was! After walking around town, we were ready for some refreshments. We each tried a couple different house specialties made with their whisky, vodka, or gin. We shared around - the different herbal, zesty, citrus, smooth, or sweet concoctions each had their own unique, tasty, and refreshing personalities - enough for us to go back for second tour about the menu! The bartender was personable and knowledgeable about the distilling process. My husband is a whisky guy, so he really enjoyed hearing about the ingredients and process. The setting was perfect for us, with a space with couches and a table for us to kick back and relax into. Plenty of space for folks - at the bars stacked on the barrels housing maturing whisky, on the couches, and in chairs. Lots of fresh air and relaxing vibe.

We went into Ketchikan looking to avoid the typical Alaska touristy stuff most folks end up doing and stumbled upon Uncharted Alaska Distillery tasting room on one of the secondary streets in the downtown area. This distillery specializes in Gin and vodka, neither of which are my favorite, but I tagged along with my Brother in law just to be a good sport about it , where he is a self professed aficionado of these types of alcohol. Based on my limited exposure to these types of alcohol I had no preconceptions on what to expect and was just looking forward to the experience. Well the long and the short of it was that I not only had a good experience with the tasting (free small samples to public) but also the follow on Cucumber Mint Spritz I purchased where this business also sells specialty cocktails made with their house alcohol. This drink was oh so good! Alcohol aside, the staff was super friendly and provided great conversation about their products but also the history behind the tasting room which is a renovated old firehouse with a lot of decorations/memorabilia located throughout the tasting room to add a nice ambiance and retro feel to the business. Additionally there indoor/open outdoor tasting room concept is real inviting and adds a lot to the experience with this business. Overall a great experience for us and definitely worth your time to check it out especially if you are a tasting room geek like me or a fan of good vodka/gin. Five stars for the total experience where I would give the alcohol 4 stars if rating separately.

Nice bar and stills! Try all 4!

Small distiller with great drinks and great samples. The Gin was tasty. The vodka was was smooth. The tequila had a nice flavor-not sharp. And the whiskey was mice. 15 mixed drinks available. Due to their liquor license, you are limited to 2 drinks (one drink can be a tasting of the 4 liquors). They have food in the evening. But this is a great place to stop for an hour before you head back to your ship! Also check out the wine and coder shops around the corner!

Walking around Ketchikan, I stumbled upon this place as a refuge from the rain. They were open early. It's interesting to learn that this distillery was formerly a fire station. You can see the fire house motif throughout the place. Their menu is eclectic, interesting and innovative. They have complementary fresh water with orange slices from a dispenser. I opted not to drink at 9AM but enjoyed hearing about their history from the pub crawl happening during my short stay. They have a variety of spirits including gin and vodka. I'd like to return one day and try a few of their cocktails.

Love love love all the makings of this place. A flight is not on the menu but they so offer a tasting if you ask, to help you decide which you want to partake. Great venue in an old fire station, just wish they installed heaters along the front to help keep you warm, the liquor helps in that regard but not entirely. What a great spot and bunch of goodies they offer though! Plus restrooms with no lines since they are slightly off the tourist path the service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend this spot for vodka and gin tasting, unique Alaskan drinks.

Stopped here for a couple of drinks... they make vodka out of kelp... this was the old fire house... friendly & attentive bar tenders... the signature cocktails are very tasty... they distill here so you can buy a bottle of their gin, vodka or whiskey...also great outdoor seating

Who doesn't love a place that serves alcohol at 9 in the morning?! We were in town because this port was one of the stops on our Alaskan cruise. It is always fun to walk around and explore another cool town isn't it?! And it's even more fun to come across a cool local business that is open, has friendly service, AND where you can drink beer before lunch!

They have a big collection of old ship and shipwreck photos decorating the walls. I also saw what looked like an antique painting of gamblers in the Gold Rush period, as well as some old historical memorabilia. It was like walking into a different time period with all the décor and wood paneling. We had a choice of a beer or a cocktail. We chose the Sourdough Mule. Apparently, tequila and ginger pair well together. It was good, but I liked the Bear Skat shot the best. Who knew that Blueberry Vodka would make such a big difference in the flavor? My husband really liked the Butt Hole shot. I didn't get to try it, but he said it was pretty good. We didn't get to stay long. It was our last pub crawl stop. By that point, we were all a little buzzed before heading back to Ward Cove. Thankfully our tour operator was our designated driver. It was a great time spent in Downtown Ketchikan!

It's well known for their specialty Duck Fart shots, but it's really the owners that make it so special. We were greeted warmly by Carlos. He made this visit so much fun. Honestly, I would have loved to stay longer to sample some of the local beers. They have many craft beers on tap. I just couldn't pass up the Booty Juice cocktail. It's strong & unique. I think he said it was a local huckleberry vodka, but I could be wrong. The best part was the Duck Fart shot. Don't go by the recipe because he actually makes it a little different. I won't spoil it for you. Not all Duck Farts are created equal. Haha! My husband won a t-shirt with the pub logo. Yes, our group played a trivia game. The owner admittedly has no filter. That's really what made the whole experience such a blast. Unfortunately, it was our first stop so we had to move on. I'd definitely revisit this one again in the future.

He transported our small group to Downtown Ketchikan while giving us a rundown of the facts and colorful history of the area. As we were passing McDonald's, we just had to ask if there was a dollar menu. Nope. However, they do have a value meal for $18. All of it was surprising to me. Even traveling around Alaska by air can be challenging. We were introduced to Hamish when arriving at our first pub stop in front of The Asylum. We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide. He was awesome! He gave us such great details about the pubs we were visiting as well as the history of Ketchikan. All while enjoying our drinks. We even had a few shots along the way. This tour led us to 3 historical (and very popular) bars: The Asylum, Artic Bar, and Sourdough Bar. I liked them all, but my absolute favorite was The Asylum. The owner is very upbeat & passionate about his bar. That's truly what makes it unique. Although, I will say that the Bear Scat at the Sourdough is right up there with the Duck Fart. Haha!! We also learned a little more about Hamish at the Arctic Bar. He's a popular guy, and an Alaskan native (born & raised). His roots may be Scottish, but he had some really great local stories to tell. I won't ruin it for you. Just take the tour. You won't be sorry.
