We took the 3hr forest tour. Tracy was amazing. She gave us alot of Ketchikan history on our way to the Tongass Forest hike. She also served us salmon dip and crackers, and bottled water after our hike. She provided a cane for my sister, who would not have been able to enjoy the hike without it. A visit to the totem village on the way back to our ship was perfect. This was a top-notch tour and a perfect way to experience the beautiful rain forest outside of Ketchikan instead of just shopping for trinkets in town! Highly recommended tour AND guide. read more

We booked the 3 hour private tour and it was absolutely fantastic! Tracy gave us history, background and facts about Ketchikan and the areas we were visiting. I am writing about their customer service as our cruise got cancelled, we weren't able to experience their tours. I just wanted to put the stress on the fact that they reached out to us to ask if we wanted to rebook or a refund due to the cruise cancellation. I had forgotten about the booked tours i scheduled! We had the most amazing experience in Ketchikan with our guide Zack. Instead of a cruise sponsored excursion, our group of 9 opted to do a private tour with Wild Wolf Tours. The price was very reasonable and in line with what the cruise ships charge for giant group tours, however we had such a better overall experience. We chose to go for a hike in the rainforest, go to a totem park, and take a walk through Creek Street in Ketchikan. Our whole group had the best time with our guide going through a beautiful hike through the rainforest and down to the beach. We explored all over and found lots of plants and wildlife to see. Our tour guide was really fun and excited to show us Ketchikan. We had several kids in our group and he was really patient and engaged with them. We all had the bet day in Ketchikan and our tour with Wild Wolf was unanimously everyone's favorite port and excursion on our whole trip! read more

May 2018 Found this gem through tripadvisor, and I am thrilled we did. We travelled in a group with toddlers and grandparents (age range 3,5, 28, 31, 50s). Arrangements were completed with email conversations and phone line communication as well. Prompt and thorough responses. Glad we booked this private excursion instead of cruise line offers. She was able to do a custom tour for us. Stroll through the totem pole park and a rainforest hike. The "treasure geo" hunt kept it interesting for the kids. She provided car seats for us and let us dictate pace and length. She even stopped by tide pools on the way back for the kids. She was patient, personable, and knowledgeable. I took their 3 hour rainforest walk in August 2021, upon recommendation from my Airbnb Hosts, Heidi and Adam. I'm glad I did! It was a small group, just me and two people from a cruise ship that was in port at the time. The walk was pretty easy (there are stairs, as an FYI, but I don't believe there are on the 2 hour walk). We got the exact same excursion for less price AND arrived to the Totem Bight Historical Park and to the Tongass National Rain Forest BEFORE all the other tourists. It was like having the entire place to ourselves! Tracy was exceptionally knowledgeable with wonderful stories about Alaska, even while driving to our destinations. She somehow even made Totem Poles and the Tongass Rain Forest interesting and fun for the kids in our group (between the ages of 7-13yo). Great Choice In Ketchikan... Tracy of Wild Wolf Tours was the best guide we could have hoped for. Her 4 hour private tour focused on a 1 1/2 mile walk through the Tongass National Rainforest with an unreal amount of vegetation and several authentic local native exhibits. The place was like a greenhouse on steroids and showed you don't need to visit the tropics to be surrounded by bright colorful flowers, bushels of berries, 3 inch banana slugs and plant leaves 4 feet in diameter. That was a real eye-opener and Tracy guided us both through the woods and in her van with enthusiasm,  knowledge, humor and warmth.  The atmosphere was fun and cost reasonable. It was a perfect way for our family of 4 adults and 1 young lady ( age 11 ) to learn more about the rainforest of Southeast Alaska. Just as important as the actual tour is attention to detail in making arrangements before we arrived. Tracy did a great job of promptly responding to questions by email and offered suggestions for making it the best possible experience. As a result, it went as smoothly as possible upon arrival by our cruise ship, during the tour and the return back to Ketchikan. We highly recommend Tracy and her company, Wild Wolf Tours. read more

We've done a lot of different tours over the years, but Tracy went above and beyond to give us a truly memorable experience. Her group sizes are small. Although we booked a standard tour, we ended up getting a private experience that allowed her to really customize it for us. We had lots of fun geocaching and banana slug hunting. Tracy is a treasure trove of information on everything from the totems to the history of her people and the land. She makes the stories come alive with her vivid storytelling and real love of Ketchikan. And what's more is that she takes you off the beaten path, away from all of the tourist traps and overdone tropes. Tracy was great and very accommodating. We enjoyed the visit to the historical park and she shared her native Alaskan history. The hike in the rainforest was well worth it. A hike in Tongass National Rain Forest + totem park with Wild Wolf Tours is a MUST-DO in Ketchikan!! Natalie was super-friendly and a really awesome tour guide. She made it fun and interesting for both adults and kids alike. Natalie took our tour group of 4 to her favorite hiking spots and shared all kinds of interesting details. She has a vast knowledge of the forest and it's wildlife, and of the the local Indian tribes, their stories, and totems. We did the 3 hour Rainforest Hike and Totem Park tour. Tracy is an excellent guide and, as a local, she's passionate and knowledgeable about the area. Tracy picked us up right in front of our cruise boat and drove us to Tongass National Forest (with lots of great information along the way). She led us on a nice hike and also had some samples to share, such as a salve made from a plant we encountered on the trail and a snack of local delicacies (salmon and seaweed). We also looked for a geocache, which was fun (Tracy will bring her trail GPS if you let her know ahead of time that you want to do some geocaching). Tracy was well prepared and even had umbreallas in the van (fortunately we didn't need them!) and water bottles. You can tell Tracy is very organized and every detail of the tour is well thought out. The part of Tongass National Forest in Ketchikan is really cool and unique. Later in our trip (at a different port) we also hiked a bit of the Tongass at Galcier Point near Haines/Skagway which wasn't as interesting (from a foliage perspective). I'm guessing it's because Ketchikan gets more rain and the forest is more lush. After the hike, we went to Totem Bright State Park. Tracy had lots of information and stories about each totem pole. There's also great scenery there by the water. Afterwards Tracy dropped us back off in downtown Ketchikan, right on time. I would highly recommend one of her tours--a great introduction to Ketchikan and a fun excursion! read more

My wife and I booked a three-hour tour led by our personable and knowledgeable guide, Tracy Wolf, and it was one of the highlights of our Alaskan cruise. Tracy led a small group of six on an easy hike through the Lunch Creek area of the Tongass National Forest, one of a handful of temperate rain forests, and familiarized us with the flora and fauna. It was spectacular! After the hike, she led us on a tour of Potlach Totem Park where she explained the legends behind Alaskan totems. Beautiful and fascinating! From beginning to end, we had a terrific experience. Having taken shore excursions arranged through cruise ships, we hoped to explore the Ketchikan area in a smaller group (at a better price). We found Wild Wolf Tours via the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau website. The descriptions of the hiking options helped us select the trail most appropriate for us--Lunch Creek. Tracy responded quickly to our reservation via email and met us promptly at the cruise dock. As was the case with all the ports on our late spring cruise, we encountered some rain. Tracy was prepared with umbrellas and ponchos as needed. We were so fortunate to have her all to ourselves that morning. She literally drove us to the end of the road for our walk in the Tongass National Forest. We couldn't be more pleased with the scenery and with her. We gained a sense of what locals appreciate about the area. Following the hike, she served refreshments: water, salmon dip & crackers, and dried seaweed--all excellent. She drove us to a wild bald eagle perched on the shoreline and to the Totem Bight Park. Her narration was so interesting that a tourist near us quieted his companion in order to hear it! Tracy provided assistance in planning the remaining time on shore and dropped us off at the location of our choice-the salmon hatchery. At both the totem park and salmon hatchery, we encountered large groups of fellow cruise travelers. We booked Wild Wolf Tours as part of our cruise to Alaska. Tracy was a great guide - her native heritage helped her tell a variety of really interesting stories about the tribal history in Alaska. Tracy also knew a lot about the plants we saw hiking through the rainforest, which helped enhance our enjoyment as well. On the last day of a family cruise one person asked everyone in the group what had been their favorite time of the trip. The three of us who took Wild Wolf Tours trip to the Tongass Forest and the Totem Park all picked that day. Our first surprise was that we were the only ones on the tour and that our vehicle was a nice roomy van instead of a giant tour bus. Tracy is very knowledgeable about the local tribes, the history, plants & animals, etc. We were lucky enough to see - from a safe distance - black bears catching salmon in a waterfall. We saw adults, teenagers, and even little bear cubs! Tracy's descriptions of the stories of the totem poles was animated and entertaining.
