I wish I could give this company zero stars. The only reason I booked with this them, is that most excursions available in Ketchikan, through the cruise line or direct, exclude kids under 5 or under 7. I wanted to find something fun to do with my 3-year-old son. I noticed that this company had no age limit for their whale watching, website stated that it was for "all ages" and "great for families". So, I naturally assumed that their boat was safe and comfortable for small children. It did not occur to me that the only difference between them and others was dishonesty and disregard for safety.  First of all, in my personal opinion, their vessel is not entirely safe for small kids. There is a net protecting kids from falling into the water that covers most of the guardrail. However, the net does not cover the entirety of the ship, and there are spots where a small child, in my opinion, could fall overboard.  The boat is small. Technically, there is seating for everyone (barely), but be prepared for your child to be confined to a small space, for long stretches of time.   The bathrooms are tiny and not large enough to safely and comfortably change a diaper.  The tour is stated to be 2-2.5 hours. But since they could not find any marine wildlife (only eagles that they attract by throwing frozen fish at them) , the captain decided to extend the tour for an hour. I told her that I did not have enough food, since I did not expect/agree to be on the water for so long with a small child. There are no facilities, and no food available on the boat except for absolute junk. But she didn't care. She told me that the website says the tour is up to 3 hours and can be extended (a lie and a lie). This felt like kidnapping (being held against one's will), to have to spend time confined in a tiny space, with a restless child, who had nothing to do and nothing to see.  I signed up for a quick excursion 2-2.5 hours, on a vessel that was "great for families". That is not what I got at all. The kicker was the aftermath, the response that I got from the owner, via company email. I asked for a refund and told her that the excursion did not match the advertisement, the ship was not safe for "all ages" and that the company had no right to hold me and my son on the vessel, arbitrarily for longer than I agreed to. What followed was a bunch of insults, false accusations and childish threats.  The owner told me I was "very lucky (she is) a calmer person than (she) used to be". I wonder what she used to do to customers before she became a "calmer person". She accused me of clogging their toilet (I never went, since I did not feel safe leaving my child alone on that ship). She accused me of not bringing diapers or food (I brought both, but I ran out of food for him as the trip was longer than expected). She further called me a " liberal piece of shit" (because I am from California?), a "lunatic", "dipshit" and an "idiot". All of this was done via company emails that I can produce if they ever try to deny it.  Anyways, if you want to deal with this company, it's your choice. Maybe you will be lucky and have a great time on the water. Personally, I would not recommend anyone dealing with them. Certainly never bringing a small child on their boat. And hey, if there is a problem, expect them to respond as stated above.... read more

We booked a 12 o'clock tour months in advance for 4, including my 10 year old child. We arrive from the cruise ship, follow the directions for check in, and they tell us we are booked for the 9am tour (or paper work says otherwise, and the confirmation email). The girl working the desk has us call the owner Melanie on our cell phone, who informs us they just moved us to the 9am tour. Says she tried to call some 1-800 number to tell us...what?!? Gave some BS excuse about one of their boats being down. The best part, they still have the 12 o'clock tour being sold. The original girl says sorry only 1 spot left. Lies. Bad customer service. Bulls***. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. Choose 1 of the many other options. Clearly these d-bags don't care about their customers. Avoid. read more

Crew team was so informative and made sure we saw orcas and humpback whales! I love that it's a small business. I came from my cruise Norwegian bliss cruise and it took about 30 minutes to get there from the free shuttle. I love how it's a small boat that fits about 20 people' comfortably. they provide coffee, hot chocolate, binoculars, blankets and a clean bathroom inside! read more

I pre-booked this Whale & Wildlife Tour in December, 2023 for our Alasakan Cruise scheduled for June 2024. My Hubby gets sea sick and we choose this specific boat perfect for small Groups. Hence the early booking. The day before our Tour, we were notified by Eagle One (EO) that our tour was leaving 30 minutes earlier. No problem, we were ready. Our ship docked at the Pier and I received a call from EO confirming where to meet and a reminder of the earlier time. We followed EO's directions to the meeting destination: Ketchikan's Visitor's Bureau right along the main Pier. Our Group quickly gathered and we were off for our Adventure! Less People equals less waiting! Captain Jesse and 1st Mate Kaylee, were our experienced Guides for the day. The tour began with a brief but informative introduction about the types of whales we might encounter and the conservation efforts to protect these magnificent creatures. As we ventured into the open sea, the anticipation grew, and we were not disappointed. The Tour boats communicate with one another to provide info on where the Whales are feeding for their morning breakfast. It took about 30 minutes to arrive at the site. Pretty thrilling to see Whales surface/breach, dive and spout water high into the air! The Tour lasted about 3 Hours and we were fortunate to not only see Whales but an Island with chillaxing Sea lions and a convocation of Bald Eagles. BONUS: This is the only authorized area, where the Crew can toss frozen herring to the Eagles. Super cool to see them swoop and dive and catch them in their beaks. Get your camera's ready, they are quick! On the way back, we saw a few deer on the coastline grazing. As we docked at the pier, another wildlife bonus: Otters swimming under the pier. Overall, I highly recommend Eagle One looking for a semi private Whale watching excursion. EO provided complimentary blankets, hot chocolate, water and snacks. Our ship was not able to dock in Ketchikan in September of 2025. We had an excursion booked with Eagle One...we did not even have to contact them and they refunded our money. Also, when I called before booking the tour the person on the phone was very friendly and helpful. Hopefully on our next trip to Alaska we will have better weather and can complete the tour with Eagle One. :) read more

Absolutely fantastic experience with Capt. Jesse and deckhand Patrick. We had so much fun out of the boat in Ketchikan (and we saw a humpback and plenty of bald eagles May 2023). One of the best memories of our trip! From booking this tour, to getting back on the ship, this was a great experience! I had questions after booking and when I emailed, Morgan was quick to answer all of my questions, and everyone, every step of the way was professional and friendly. Captain Jesse and Patrick were friendly and informative and made sure we saw whales and seals, and porpoises and tons of eagles. They were so down to earth and patient and knowledgeable. Patrick kept us entertained with stories of growing up there and Captain Jesse made sure we didn't miss anything along the way, sharing history and life experiences in Alaska. Please do not hesitate to choose this company for your whale watching trip. Not a large boat so you will have a very personal experience. Best eagle experience and we did see whales. The captain was very responsible about keeping the correct distance from the whales. We learned about the history of the area. Heard great stories of whale encounters. Booked for whale watching and wildlife viewing in August 2021. No whales that day but we saw eagles and seals and they had delicious snacks on board. A pretty informal vibe but I like that, it makes the experience feel more authentic than something with a strict structure and scripted dialogue. Only slight complaint is there was confusion with the people they picked up before me so I got picked up 15 minutes after they said I would - they did still show up and the boat didn't leave until we were all there, it just made me nervous that they'd forgotten they were picking me up and I had to call a few times before someone answered and explained the situation. Decided not to book an excursion from the cruise ship because it was sold out. So, hoping to find something on shore I cruised the Ketchikan tours building seeing what was available. We narrowed it down between land tours and boat tours, because that was what was on offer. There were 3 or 4 being offered of each and the reasons I chose Eagle One Enterprises were: no hype, no promises of sightings, no buildup of what was seen yesterday or last month. Jesse stated that there were no guarantees of whale sightings, but it was a beautiful day to see if there were whales out there, I like honesty. He guaranteed that no matter how many people did or did not sign up for the tour there would still be a tour and that the tour would start promptly at 9:15am, it did. Morgan was a good hostess and kind conversationalist keeping my wife entertained while I ran crazy around the boat taking photos. We saw whales, eagles and maybe a lazy seal, but it could have been a log. There were snacks and beverages on offer, but I was too busy taking photos to try any. Jesse was right, it was a beautiful day and we were lucky enough to see whales, eagles and the beauty of Alaska from a boat. Thank you, Jesse & Morgan, for the memorable boat tour. read more

Weren't able to see whales while on this boat trip but we got super close to seals and saw a couple eagles! Even saw one dive for a fish. This was very sad. We had two families on the trip, one with a very VERY bad-behaving teens (three) and one with two children, one of which SCREAMED AT EVERYONE and everything. This ruined the entire trip, dealing with fighting and screaming that the boat staff ignored. What should have been done? Not sure, but a gentle reminder to the PARENTS who left the children unsupervised would be a nice start. The crew ACKNOWLEDGED that the horrid kids were not supervised. That was actually left to us to do. PEOPLE: Don't bring children to anything if they cannot behave. YOU RUIN EXPENSIVE TRIPS for others who have disciplined children and manners! Crew: Have parents sign a waiver for misbehaving kids. FORCE them to sit with them instead of leaving them in the boat kitchen area to throw donuts on the floor, get under the tables, scream at other passengers, and generally make us ANGRY that we booked the tour. PLEASE! It may discourage parents who refuse to raise their children to pick something else. read more

Can't speak highly enough about Captain Jesse and the crew of the Eagle One. We rely on him to transport our mission team to and from Metlakatla every year and he is consistently reliable, professional and eager to please. He has an instinct for where we might see whales and goes out of his way to take detours to ensure passengers have the opportunity to view the wonderful sealife of Alaska. We have yet to be disappointed. He is very knowledgable about the area, the water and wildlife and always eager to please.
