Five stars for a very cute store tucked in a corner of Pike Place market. Lots of high quality goods from native Americans in the Western States and the profits directly benefit these artists. Lots of unique art prints, jewelry,scarves etc as well as some finds not by natives. Everything is well marked, prices are visible, and the ladies are able to answer any questions. Overall a great place to support and they include bios with a lot of the pieces so you know where it came from and who made it. read more

This Native American art and gift shop is kind of hidden in the Market, but well worth a browse. The animal icon decals interested me, so I asked the nice lady shop keep what they meant. She immediately grabbed a big binder full of information and had a few pages on animal icons and their meanings. She even offered to copy a page for me. She was so sweet and helpful, and we had quite a nice chat during my visit. If I lived in Seattle I'd probably ask her to dinner. Heck, I'll ask her from 1,000 miles away, sweet old lady with the nice sky blue eyes, do you want to go to dinner sometime? Okay, got sidetracked there, but interesting story about something I bought there. I got a few Spirit Stones, small rocks with an animal quickly sketched on it; they are supposed to each be imbued with the spirt of that animal and bring certain qualities to the owner. Well, even though I thought it was a little creepy, I liked the Spider stone for myself. It's supposed to bring "Creativity of Life". My life could use a creative kick in the pants, so why not! Anyway, I put the Spirit Stone on my window ledge for about a week, and have been carrying it around otherwise. Well, a few days after my return, I'm laying on my couch and I swear there's a Black Widow spider on the wall. Seriously! Okay, I hate to kill a spider, but kill or be killed! I thought of my Spirit Stone at the time then forgot about it. Last night, an even bigger spider was hanging around, it was huge! Bigger than a quarter! Whatever these Spirit Stones have in 'em, they work, but not sure I want to keep my Spider Stone. I wonder what would've happened had I bought that Bear Stone... Anyway, great shop! Get some knicknacks, tell the shopkeep I said "Hey", but stay away from the Spider Spirt Stone. read more

It's because I bought a 100+year old flamethrower here that I am giving this place 5 stars. I love it when you buy a gift SO AWESOME that you do the Beastie Boys, "Yeaaaaaaah boooooooyyyyy!!" throwing your arms down, kicking your leg out like yooz some gangsta. Behind MarketSpice in Pike Place Market, is Raven's Nest Treasure. I'll admit that I have a fascination with antique shops (probably watched the television series Friday the XIII too much). And though I browse antique shops compulsively when I find one, I rarely buy anything. I just like reading the history behind both unusual and everyday objects. Inside, there is a lot of Native American art, jewelry, statues, carvings--the usual stuff you would expect to find. And no place is complete without a woolly mammoth tusk or two. If you look up at the beams, you'll find the most interesting things hanging. A lot of the stuff had 'Not for Sale' signs attached to them. Just as I was about to walk out, I noticed a small industrial-looking hunk of metal with the sign "Flamethrower" below it. There was no price tag, or 'Not for Sale' sign next to it. Immediately interested, I asked the woman about it. She had to call the owner to find out more. While not fact-checked by me (yet) the flamethrower was actually a kerosene-powered soltering torch. It is well-worn with use, you can see the seams from the welding, and each piece opens/moves/slides--all looking to be in working order. And the piston has a stamp of "1902 patent" on it. I noted aloud that it was too bad there wasn't any paperwork on it. And when I tried to look for something akin to its likeness on Google, I couldn't find anything at the time, but the $100 price that the owner offered via phone seemed fair in my opinion. I found that they are pretty common valuing much lower, but I have to say: it's pretty cool still. Unfortunately, you won't see me on the Antiques Roadshow beaming brightly as they marvel at my find and tell me it's worth one BILLION dollars ;) read more

Beautiful jewelry! I purchased a neck ring from them a few years back and in moving it got damaged. I tried reaching out to them for the name of the artist so that I could ask her to fix it for me. The gentleman who I was speaking with on the phone (who I believe is the owner) continued to talk over me as I was trying to explain to him what I was calling for and told me he doesn't give out any of his artists names nor info. The solutions he provided me was to look at his daughters work (I'm sure she does beautiful work, but this has nothing to do with what I'm calling about). I tried emailing him a photo of the piece but every email comes back as though that email address doesn't exist...so...exquisite jewelry but the customer service is vastly devistating... read more

What a sweet find. This shop is filled with beautiful jewelry and one of a kind art pieces. I found a simple, hematite ring that I was immediately drawn to. Its simplicity really stood out to me amongst all the other jewels and stones. I wore this ring out of the shop and during the rest of my trip. Walking further down, I found deer whistles - perfect for my whistle-loving friend (really, she loves them for some odd reason.) At the end of the shop, I found a box full of spirit stones. I had to rummage through the whole thing to find a wolf one - just the thing for the most spiritual person in my life. This shop is amazing w/ its unique gems. It seems a bit out of place at the end of Pike Market, next to the tea shop and the fish stand. But if you're looking for a special souvenir, this is just the place to go. read more

I was totally drawn to this shop while strolling around Pike Place Market. They have really great Tlingit and Haida treasures. There are also some really cool knives and wood carvings. The store seems surprisingly reasonable, and it will appeal to kids and adults. They seem to have something for everyone. read more

Raven's is a store in Pike Place Market with a random selection of items for sale. From jewelry to antiques to Native American talking sticks to carved bison jawbones to Chinese pottery thousands of years old, there is an eclectic selection of wares to find. Drawn in by the irregular collection, I walked around to see all of the things they have. What sticks out in my mind the most was the jade Chinese tea set for $7,000. Wowzers. Also, the bowie knives with antler handles. They sell art as well that seems to all be from a Native American influence. The entire front counter is jewelry, and it appears to all be costume or regular items. They have some of that southwestern jewelry that doesn't appeal to me so I wasn't looking too closely. One of the clerks showed me a pair of Chinese earrings made from porcelain that have the double happiness symbol on them, and she said they are very rare. This same clerk was a really sweet woman and went out of her way to see if my boyfriend or I needed any help. A fun store to look at, and even though there wasn't anything there for my taste, for those who are into these things, you'd really like it. read more

Never have I seen a gallery that brings so many of North America's native art into one place. I have been a dealer of Southwestern native jewelry, but have always wanted the opportunity to see some fine examples of Pacific Northwestern native art. This is that place! After drooling over much of the antique, museum quality pieces, I ended up buying a scrimshaw necklace and earring set. I feel so lucky to have this set! First of all, scrimshaw anything is hard to come by these days! Secondly, the set that I bought came from a collection of a woman who is no longer with us. But! That makes this set even more special, because it's an antique! The Raven's Nest is full of such treasures! read more

Rude , rude, rude! My daughter was there with her friends and she saw something she thought I might like. She took her phone out to call me and ask if I wanted her to buy it for me, when this woman who works there barked at her not to take pictures (which she wasn't) and to get out of her store. Do they think they are the only store that sells Native American art in Seattle? We'll be taking our business somewhere else. read more

If you are looking for a nice native american gift or souvenir to take home from Seattle, then look in this little gem of a store, within Pike's Place Market. Its located just to the left of the fish guys, down a little hallway. We bought my son a whistle made of deer antler, and a handmade flute. There are many interesting things to see and a wide price range. You can get something nice for a small price, or get a pricier one-of-a-kind item. Just stay away from the "spirit" infused items. read more

A quaint little store, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main market. You can still hear the Flying Fish being thrown, but for the most part, the atmosphere in there is pretty quieting. They have some of the most beautiful and unique pieces representing the Native Americans in the Northwest islands in the Pacific Ocean, and the Northwest area in general from what I gathered. Of course the only downside is that they push prices up a bit, but it's for the benefit of the store and (hopefully) the artists who helped to make or made those pieces. I was thinking about getting a deer whistle, but opted not to and instead got two wooden pendants (raven and wolf) which are still a bit expensive for not-handmade pieces (but you can't really find the designs anywhere else), and have adjustable straps for the cord around your neck. The shopkeeper lady was extremely helpful and seems to know a lot about native american culture, just not as much with current news, which is fine with me. The jewelry (ivory pieces included) are not cheap, but they're well worth it if they're gifts to others, or yourself. The shopkeeper and I talked about what it would mean to the culture if more and more of the Native young people would take an interest in the art, design, and crafts of their tribes. Overall it was a great experience, but do mind your wallet when you're in there. read more
