I don't get out much, but sometimes you just want to have a drink and pretend to socialize. I don't live in Sunland, but not too far away and when heading to the grocery store down the street I was reminded about this little joint and figured I'd stop since I was already out that way. As read in the reviews, and obvious in person, this isn't going to be everyone's hangout, if it it does resonate with you, you'll have a good time. Scary, new owner lets bikers back in and always issues. Bartenders are rude or drunk or look like a slut. The new changes are not great. It Use to be a great local bar in the area but this guy wants it to be a theme bar with its music nights and random people like it's Hollywood. Its Sunland. It's "world famous" because of the issues that happen there not because it's a good place. It use to be where the locals go. Now after 9pm it's like a tour bus comes in to try the new " Dive" bar. Always enjoy a local dive bar. This one has a rich history dating all the way back to the early 1900's. Loved that they had all the old school pics on the wall. The wife was a little worried about entering since there were a fee rough looking people outside near bikes. I told her not to judge a book bybits cover. We went in and had a great time. I'm not one to go to bars often, because of the rude bartenders and unwelcome stares from people. So when I say that I love coming to this bar, that means something. It's a comfortable dive bar, with a pool table and a Touch Tunes jukebox. I only like going to this place on Sunday and Monday nights when Donelle is working. Hands down the best bartender ever. She creates a super welcoming, unbiased vibe and always plays the best music. She really cares about her customers and makes great drinks. I really hope she continues to work there. This is a terrific, cozy, and comfortable dive bar. Drinks are cheap and well made by the bartenders. Crystal is a true asset to the bar as she is very good at her job and brings in new patrons who are interested in playing pool and want an enjoyable atmosphere. I'm only avoiding 5 stars because it would seem disingenuous. The truth is, this was singularly one of the best experiences I've had at an out-of-the-way bar. The staff are exceedingly professional, managing engaging conversation while expertly mixing the most bizarre and absurd cocktails. The regulars are friendly, welcoming, and complete the environment you may desire when finding a happy strange discomfort. It is a 5 star experience. Only been here twice and it's my favorite dive, and I live a good 45 minutes away. Every time I come out to Sunland for a good time I try to stop by. Great atmosphere, friendly bartenders and of course that classic heavy handed dive bar pour, making for strong drinks and a good time. I've worked in the food/beverage industry for 8 years, and don't usually feel compelled to write bad Yelp reviews, but this may have been the most pointless interaction I've ever had at any of the hundreds of bars I've been to. The bartender was unnecessarily rude. Instead of interrogating me with a million and one questions and acting suspicious because you can't remember whether or not I have been at that bar before (which I have several times, but that's completely irrelevant anyway), you know what would have been 100% more effective and 100% less obnoxious? Asking for my ID. Or even accepting to see it when I offered. No need to be unpleasant, but she somehow made breaking a $20 bill the most complicated process ever. read more

Really like this little dive bar, cheap pbr and you dont have to worry about any drama, been coming here for years and its always been a good time. The bartenders here Jolei and Sarah are amazing I only have an issue with Nikki, other people have had issues with her as well she is a terrible bartender and loses the place business. Saturday night with the Guys and needed a night cap after dinner. What a great little hole in the wall joint. Very local oriented but everyone was really cool and great to shoot the sh*% with. The music this particular evening was on the jukebox and was from 90's. The bartender and security guy were really cool and the service was great - never had to wait to order or get a drink. This place is awwwwwwsome! The bartender, Rebecca is super sweet. We'd come here once before (months ago) and she totally remembered us. And apparently so did some of the regulars. Everyone is super nice. People introduce themselves to you and don't mind having a conversation with you. Service is great. They also have karaoke on Fridays. It wasn't on all the time so you can still play music on the jukebox. Jose is really cool. He helps out with the karaoke and ID check at the door. There's parking on the street and they also have a few spaces in their lot. I Love this place so much!!! Perfect place for a night cap! So happy every time we come. read more

Cool spot. Reeeaaal divey. Beer is at a good price and cold. Theres always some party i.e. a b-day going on brings in a good number of people. Older crowed is pretty friendly, some from ole days of sunland - tujunga. The young blood on the other hand can be a bit snappy, once the booze kick in. its best to stick to yourself and enjoy the drinks with your own group.
