This has always been a fun local spot to hit balls with friends, but after our experience tonight I won't be coming back. While our group was taking a short break between rounds and waiting for food and drinks, an older man aggressively approached us asking if we were using the bay we were sitting in front of. I politely explained that we were, and that the rest of our group would be right back. Instead of handling it professionally, he immediately became rude and confrontational, lecturing us about how "plenty of people would love to fill the bay" and calling us selfish for sitting there. We calmly offered to share the bay, trying to de-escalate the situation, and that's when he responded, "You're damn right I can use it , I own this place." Then his daughter chimed in trying to justify his behavior, acting equally sassy and entitled while talking down to me but trying to appear friendly asking me, "Do you see how that came off?" Honestly, no absolutely not because we were being polite and respectful the entire time until we finally felt the need to stand up for ourselves after being talked down to for no reason. The entire interaction was unnecessary, hostile, and embarrassing. Multiple people nearby were visibly shocked by how aggressive and disrespectful he was toward paying customers. We are grown adults spending money at your establishment, not children needing to be disciplined. If the owner wanted private space reserved for a graduation celebration, then reserve the bays ahead of time instead of berating customers he is the owner isn't he? There was absolutely no reason to approach us the way he did. Customer service and basic respect matter. I won't spend another dollar here, and I definitely won't support a business owner who treats people that way. I just wish I hadn't already spent almost $200 there before he ever approached us on food, drinks and balls for our group of 6. read more

The Range is one of my favorite local hang outs. The fact they have indoor and outdoor seating options is a big plus. When the weather is nice sitting outside is great. There are quite a few things to do- hitting balls, cornhole, ring washers, and more. I've not had a bad experience here...until last Friday. I ordered some food and the guy that took my order was so uninterested in having anything to do with me. He said three words the whole time and acted like I was wasting his time. I felt like since I wasn't a hot college girl he didn't feel the need to engage with me. Not a great feeling. I'll go back again but I hope this was a one off because if it happened again I would likely be turned off from The Range altogether. I ordered fries, okra, and a pizza. The pizza was fine. Nothing elite but not bad either. I wasn't a fan of the fries. They are waffle fries and had no flavor. The okra was excellent. read more

My review can't comment on the experience itself, but can help you decide if you wanna eat here or grab something prior to coming to hang out! This place is awesome. I hadn't hit a golf ball in years when some friends invited me to come out to The Range on a Wednesday night. I was surprised to see what a fun place I'd been missing, and only a couple miles from my house! A large bucket of ball and a bucket with a six-pack of cold beers for only $20? Yes, please! The atmosphere in the evenings is casual and fun, with lots of families hanging around the many picnic tables while people hit balls. There's a putting green also, and areas for pitching washers, and even a nice green lawn for spreading blankets or throwing footballs. Really great. And there's even a little pro shop with some good deals on new and used clubs and gear. If the service at the bar/ball area was a little more attentive it would be perfect! read more

This is some good old fashion Lubbock fun. Very Unique. Picture a laid back one level shooting range a little like Top Golf. They have plenty of space here. They also have corn hole, the ring game and Crusty's Pizza, not to mention their full bar. The twinkle nights at night really set the mood for a chill evening with friends and chatting. The drinks are cheap and the bucket of balls are too. Bring your own clubs and have a ball. The bartenders and staff tend to all be high school students that are usually most helpful, but I have had a few misses. Nothing that will keep me away! read more

Quaint, kitsch spot with plentiful seating spots indoors & outdoors; simple yet tasty wood fired pizza & an accommodating bar which carries all varieties of Deep Eddy vodka! You have the option to hit balls, play cornhole or partake in my fave; washers! Staff is attentive & friendly & I love the music selection playing in the background!!! I would view this place as a bar where you can hit golf balls and not the other way around. Thursday night is the best night to come; jumbo bucket of balls and a bucket of beer for $18 (basically, the beer is free.) Their pizza is good too, but a little bit over priced. The Range is an absolutely outstanding place and honestly a gem to have in Lubbock. My wife and I had our wedding in another city and had a small reception. We decided to have a Lubbock party/reception for our friends here and The Range was perfect for us. Adrienne & Clay did everything they could to make us feel at home and comfortable and they accommodated every request we made. We were the "other event" going on as mentioned by the previous reviewer. I won't get into all of the details because many were not my business. However from my perspective the owners did everything in their power to accommodate someone with unrealistic expectations and was not fulfilling their part of the deal. Don't believe everything you read about level headed folks and wonderful people. There are three sides to every story. I will continue to enjoy this great place both as a venue and a fun place to relax in the evening with a cold beer, washers, music and golfballs. read more

I've never actually golfed before. I come here with friends that know what they're doing and lay out on the grass to watch the rabbits late at night. The food is pretty good, the atmosphere is relaxed, and there aren't too many children late at night to take away from the quiet. It's off the edge of town so there's very little in the way of traffic noises, so if you just want to come out and hear yourself think, there's plenty of room. Prices seem really good for what it is. I'm not really sure what other places charge as I'm not a golfer, but the people with me certainly have fallen in love with this place! The staff is very nice as well. read more

I cannot comment about The Range's ability to execute events, as I use it strictly as a driving range facility. The hours are phenomenal, coming from Chicago and used to everything being open 24hrs, Lubbock has been a huge adjustment because it seems like everything in the city shuts down after 7pm. The Range is open till Midnight, and if you travel a lot for work and or work late, this is a great place to get some swing reps in. The Range's golf balls are not dead and in fairly good condition, definitely not limited range or extremely low compression range crap you might see at other places. As for the targets, when hitting off the matts the distances are longer than what is printed on them, about 10-15 yards, but there is a sign off to the side stating where standard distance was measured at. Appearance wise, form what Ive noticed if the weather is really nice, the social aspect at the range is a big part of the business, its certainly 1/2 driving range the other half bar. Thus, it can get crowded on a Thursday and Friday evening, but everyone seems to be having a great time. Staff is friendly If I had one recommendation, it would be in the winter time post hours of operation on a website or FB page. read more

I would have never known this place existed if it were not for my coworkers. The Range is secluded at the very back of a dead end road with a lot of open space and for a very good reason! My first visit was with my close coworker/friends. We had decided to have an outing to just relax and hang out. Parking was a nightmare! The street to park on was so dark and there were cars parked every which way! I went down the street twice before I saw a car leaving and immediately took their spot. They checked my ID and gave me a wristband upon entering, which I wasn't expecting since it is a family place, but I guess it saves time at the bar. Once inside, we decided to buy the largest bucket of golf balls (there are three sizes), got drinks at the bar, and a pizza! I wasn't really impressed with the drinks, but the pizza was really good! On the golf course, there are about three or four targets and two metal bins. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here because you have a range of golfers, those who were really good (like my coworkers) and those who are picking up golf clubs for the first time (like me), but we are all here to have a good time. The second time I visited The Range was for a going away party for one of my coworkers. Parking was a breeze this time around! The guy at the gate did not check my ID this time (they should be consistent if they want this to be a thing). Once again, hitting the golf balls were the highlight of my night;however, since I don't own any golf clubs of my own, I wish they had a booth where you could rent one! I would probably come here more often if that was an option, but in the meantime I will stick to putt putt or tag along when my friends go. The employees were joyful and really made sure we were happy during our visit. They even offer to send you a text or call you when your pizza is ready if you don't want to sit and wait for it! What really sealed the deal for me was during one of my trips here it started storming and it was almost midnight, so everyone started leaving, but my friends and I decided to sit on the patio and wait it out and the employees did not rush us to leave, but made sure we were taken care of. Giving them 1 star because 0 isn't allowed. Attended a party at The Range that was cut short by poor business practices. I'm a bit unclear on the details as I was not directly involved in the discussion with the staff/manager on duty. From what I understand from several (level-headed) adults involved in the conversation the reasons we were asked to vacate went from we only had the space until 8:30 to our group wasn't spending enough money on drinks and then back to the first reason. It is FREE to reserve space for an event but another group showed up and asserted they had paid a not small sum of money. The issue would not have been money either. Our party would happily have paid a rental fee IF THERE HAD BEEN ONE! The person who organized the party had this planned for a long time, had been out there 3 times leading up to yesterday, and The Range called HER the day of the event and NOT once mentioned anything about a time limit. She even asked how late The Range was open and when told midnight she said we would likely be there for the duration. A lot of time was spent planning and decorating and several people came from out of town for this party. Anyone that knows her knows what a sweet (not to mention super-organized and reasonable) person she is so I have a hard time not believing The Range is at fault on this one. I had heard a few negative comments about this business recently but I do not frequent the place anyway so I didn't really concern myself with it. I will now. I will not spend money nor will I recommend anyone spend money at this establishment until they can figure out a better system and learn to treat people right. It's not about the almighty dollar and, if you run your business that way, it's bound to catch up with you. What group of adults plans a 2 hour party? Isn't that for 6 year olds?! My favorite place in Lubbock! A far cry from the new and hi tech places like TopGolf, but this place has an awesome west Texas feel to it. Always good red dirt music playing, good prices on balls and buckets of beer, and the wood fire pizza there is actually really good! I have to admit that it's fun to come out here and golf while hanging out with some friends! However the manager was very disrespectful and yelled at many customers (including the people I was with). The problem could have been very simply solved but he yelled that it wasn't the time or place to practice because the place was busy, isn't that the point of going? My grandmother rented the back lawn and stage venue from 6:30-midnight for my grandpa's 75th bday. We were told at 8:30 we needed to leave because we had not spend enough money in the 2 hours we were there and there was a wedding reception coming that had already spent more than we had. We had to cut our party short and leave. The OWNER was completely rude and the manager who worked with our family for over a month lied right to our faces about the agreement that was made. I understand that double bookings sometimes happen, but don't blame it on your customers who "apparently did not understand." At first we though it was a neat place, but we sooner learned differently. We had a group if 8-11 people there to watch a football game, then the "owner" who turned out to be the owners son was drunk and wouldn't let us watch the game at first. Recent management changes have negatively affected the appeal for families with young children. Area where families could sit, enjoy bbq with friends and family has been changed into a putting green - used to be nice place where kids could run and play, play in sand, enjoy live music. Now, if your children venture into the area, you are scolded and told their flip flops will leave permanent footprints on the putting green. We were told instead to let them play on the grassy area directly behind the driving range which could potentially cause serious injury and should be considered a major liability. Must say I didn't see a single person interested in putting the entire time we were there. People are looking for a place they can hit balls, relax with a bucket of beer while the kids have a place to play and enjoy themselves, play some games - jenga, washers, etc. and enjoy some Crusty's pizza. read more
