Let me clear up some of the nonsensical comments I'm seeing about poor Customer Service. Now, I'm one of the most discerning customers and pain in the tuchases you are going to meet. Let me break this place down to you--great proximity to the Charlotte region. Nestled away, I was able to find this hidden gem easily. I felt safe from the moment I entered the door. There are no issues with parking; they have a large and well-maintained parking lot. They offer a wide selection of firearms for rent at a fair price for your use. This wasn't an issue for me; I brought my own guns. The staff were excellent - a young gentleman and a lovely young woman were working on the Sunday afternoon I visited. Both staff members could not have been more knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant. Everyone had a great attitude, which was incredibly refreshing. I felt extremely safe. I hope this review doesn't attract the typical losers I've met at other rangers near CLT. Fellow range users were very friendly and showed an interest in getting to know me. Price was right! - I would consider the membership; it's just that my schedule can be a little erratic. Would definitely return. Do NOT utilize this range for an FFL transfer. I strongly suggest transferring at Eagles, Blackstone, or Point Blank. Do NOT purchase a firearm from this store if you do not have a CCL. For example, California redacts certain information (ie. birthdate). Due to this, any background checks come delayed because California requires manual checks. This range will make you wait far past the legal limits and brady law. 20-30 days is asinine. There are plenty of other ranges and gun shops around that do not play games like that. The actual range itself is nice and targets are a good size. I might come here to shoot every once in a while when Eagles isn't an option, but as for anything else; I suggest going elsewhere. read more

I don't know what happened, but this place has gone downhill. Customer service is a coin toss. You might get a helpful guy who actually cares and answers your questions, or you might end up dealing with the guy with the buzz cut and glasses who never seems to want to be there. I've been to plenty of indoor ranges. I won't be revisiting this one. Staff wasn't very friendly. Targets are hung by a cardboard like plastic backer. The shooter I brought with me was relatively new. Naturally he threw a few shots. Several put three holes into the plastic hanger. Other than that the hanger was fine. Completely functional and in good shape. Well, because it had three holes in it I was forced to "buy" it when we checked out. And the associate that checked us out was less than apologetic that I was being forced to pay 10 dollars for what is likely a 2 dollar piece of plastic. She was a finally rather smug about it. Also, with as many people that were on the firing line during our visit I would have expected an RSO be present inside the shooting area, somewhere. Knowing one is close, observing shooters that may or may not be exercising proper gun safety is a big plus, in my book. It was not the case, there. Yeah, we went there and shot. Yeah, the target carriers worked. But that's about the only good thing I can say about my experience there. There are other places to shoot, nearby. borderline extortionist prices. I purchased a shotgun from PSA and had it sent to this place for an FFL transfer. When I came to pick it up I was absolutely dumb founded with a ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR transfer fee! never have I ever paid over $40 for a transfer fee. I suppose in fairness I should have called ahead to ask prices but in no world would I have EVER expected it to be any where close to that. Not to mention their range prices and ammunition prices are also not competitive at all with any ranges I've been to previous. Never will return and recommend anyone who likes keeping money in their wallet to steer clear as well. read more

Had a firearm transferred to this shop, they have decided to violate my rights under the Brady act and make me wait the full 30 days to pick up my handgun. Do not transfer your firearm to this location they will violate your rights also! They're plenty of other gun shops that will not break the law and leave your family unprotected. I signed up for a class at the range on 8/6/2022. The class was for 8:30 AM. I arrived at 8:29AM and every door was locked at the range. I knocked on each of them several times, no one opened. I called the phone number, no answer. I emailed them, no response. I stuck around knocking on doors until 8:50 AM when I gave up and drove back home. I wasted over an hour including driving on this appointment, gas money, and haven't yet received a response if I will receive a refund. Edit: I received a refund. read more

Be careful before you use them as a FFL transfer agent. I didn't do my research before buying a gun online and having it shipped to them as a transfer agent which I thought was a good idea being close to where I live. Highest transfer fee I have ever had to pay $80. It's still $40 for members with a range membership, shows how much they appreciate members. Found out they were supposed to offer me 30 days at the range for using them as a transfer agent. Nope. Not a word was said as they convinced me to buy a membership to lower the cost of the transfer fee. The fees in my area are $20-$40 in my area and you don't have to spend money for a membership to lower it. Buyer beware before you assume the transfer fee isn't going to be out of line when an FFL pops up as a location with an online firearm website. read more

With everything going on during the Covid - 19 Pandemic, The Range at Lake Norman has issued out new hours, and changed the schedule to include a Deep cleaning day. I have to say, them being open was kind of a God-Send! I have been cooped up over a month inside the house. Don't get me wrong, we have a really nice house, however every once in a while I DO like to get out every once in a while. Not only did we feel safe and respected, we were the only 3 people (Husband and youngest child-age 23) who had the entire rifle room to ourselves. We did get there early and had a fantastic time, not to mention, safely getting rid of the frustration of being cooped up. When we were finished, and coming out, the lobby was starting to become busy, so we skedaddled out quickly as not to have to be close to people unnecessarily. We felt better and more centered. Buyer Beware! We purchased a Glock Gen 4 G19 on Sunday for $700 only to realize when we got home that it was a used weapon. Talked to Justin today and was told their policy is not to disclose whether a weapon is new or used unless asked. Our bad for not paying more attention and assuming this would be a better experience than the pawn shop. I paid $650 for a NEW Gen 5 G23 MOS at the pawn shop. Go figure. We were looking at membership, conceal classes, etc. Needless to say, we won't be setting foot in here again. I offered to settle for a conceal class on the house to square it up but was told the only option would be to consign the consigned gun we bought. Yeah, right. We're out a few hundred over it. They're out much more than that over the long haul. Sad, because we actually enjoyed the range experience there. read more

Driving more than an half-hour to get to a gun range was getting old. I was so happy to see this range open up in Cornelius. They have all the amenities that you would expect a range to have for modern shooters. I come here for recreational purposes and have found the range more than suitable. They have fully electronic systems and the lanes are wide and not tight like many other ranges. They also offer memberships that are competitive to some of the other ranges around the area. Daily lane rates are a bit pricy, but considering their location they can charge that much. However, stray away from the touristic prices for weapons and ammo. There are many other stores that just sell and you'll want to visit those. The prices they quoted me were $200 more than several other stores and I just couldn't bite that bullet. They were very friendly, helpful and welcoming, everything The Range at Lake Norman was not. They helped me signup for private gun safety and training sessions and will help me purchase my gun. So if you are comfortable with rude disrespectful treatment, and have money to throw away when they randomly refuse to honor your email confirmation for a PURCHASED training course in lieu of a hand written list of names on a clipboard, then enjoy yourself at The Range at Lake Norman. read more

Went to this place for some practice with my firearms. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The place was clean. I did make a reservation for a lane (it was $5 online) so I didn't have to wait long. I like how it was separated for pistols and rifles. I was on the rifle side and it was not crowded so I wasn't worried about social distancing. The prices are reasonable. I did a great Groupon deal but I am looking in to getting a membership here. I can't wait to visit again. read more

Larry was so rude and racist as hell. Was nice to other white customers and smiling. Threw our cards and ID on the table instead of handling it to us. Also we had to wait for 15 mins and was completely ignored and not knowledge by Larry when he was done with someonE elsee. Luckily the other worker was nice and took his time to teach us. I visited The Range At Lake Norman after purchasing a Groupon. They have about 15 stalls which I imagine, can get very loud when full. I opted to insert earbuds​ before placing the sound gear over my ears. This helped quite a bit, although it prohibited conversation. With my shooting partner, we almost had the range to ourselves until a few guests showed up while we were being oriented via the standard video. With the rules and regulations under our belt, we were offered an arm, a 9mm which I had shot previously. My guess is this automatic weapon is definitely​ up to my standards. Once we acclimated to the range, our target set, we struggled with loading the weapon. Adam came in with an automatic thingy that helped us load the bullets swiftly. Now we were set to shoot. While Adam gave detailed instructions to my shooting partner, I listened intently so that he wouldn't have to repeat himself over the bullets propelling into targets. Once we were over the sudden shots being fired, we were able to settle down and get in some practice. I actually shot very well, according to Adam and the other two patrons. They even encouraged me to join a competition. In any case, I enjoyed my time at the range, given the direction of Adam. I will definitely visit again. read more

I really enjoy this range. It is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need - ammo, gear, targets, new & used... you name it. The range itself is the only one we like to visit. While expensive (IMO), they frequently offer Groupons which I highly recommend. My hubby and I went using a Groupon (that's how we found this place), and enjoyed our experience. We always felt safe, and knew we were under the watchful eye & help of the team should we need anything. We rented several handguns, and when one jammed up, the team was able to come out and fix it for me. No biggie - it happens... I'm just glad to know they're on hand if I need help or feel uncertain. At one point, a team member came out asking if I was interested in some advise. Gladly, I said "YES!" She was giving me some pointers on how to rack the gun since I seemed to be having difficulty. Overall, it's a clean, safe, accessible and friendly facility. We drive here from Mooresville just because of the Groupons and the friendly staff. Recommended! read more

I'll start by saying that I've never posted a negative online review in my life but the Range at Lake Norman has motivated me to change this habit. I'm a member who has been treated so shabbily, that with 6-months left on my prepaid one-year membership, I will never return. I could write an entire essay on the situation but just know that there is a customer service problem in terms of staff, and that the issue goes all the way to the top. I would recommend that you NOT make a membership commitment to this business. Based on my experience you will not be treated well and when you have an issue, they will ignore your reasonable request to make it right. If you stop in off the street, rent a shooting lane and have a bad experience, you can simply not return and you suffer no financial penalty. When you're a member you are stuck. In my case the ownership would not so much as reply to my respectful request for a pro-rated refund based a very negative membership experience. Its really too bad that they built a beautiful facility but don't have the commitment to a basic level of customer service that would make it a really enjoyable place to shoot. read more

First visit to this range. Signed in, watched safety video....all the norm. We had to wait a bit for a lane to open up, ok it is Saturday and maybe a busy time. They did have a nice lounge to wait in. The major thing I observed was the staff. They seemed very disorganized and honestly a little unprofessional. This is a nice range, they have only been open for like a year. The building is feels new and if very clean and organized. They workers were also very pleasant and helpful, although there could have been a few more on working as it was a weekend and was busy. One of the negatives that i found was they charge you for rent a range for the day($25), even though i was only there for an hour. Boxes of ammo and rentals were pretty reasonable. All and all i would say it was a pretty positive experience, and i would def go back! read more

I've only been to a handful of ranges as a rookie gun-owner, but none compare to this. These people really have their act together. Friendly people, great service, & outstanding venue. I still have yet to take a look at the rifle range, but it is absolutely great for pistols. A very close "second" is the customer demographic it attracts. The staff can be as adamant as humanly possible about safety but if you get people in their that just don't care, it tends to make me nervous. I don't care what you say, I JUST DON"T TRUST PEOPLE, especially with guns. That said, it was good to see everyone following the rules, a staff member watching over at all times, and cameras on each lane for further supervision. I mean, if I was doing something wrong, I would want a staff member reviewing tape and pointing it out to me, so again, it was good to see. Overall, it was a great experience here and I plan to consider this my new range of choice. Just FYI, you need to use total metal jacket ammo for range time (which is of course sold here). read more

Went to the Range at LKN earlier in the week. Not my first time at the range, but probably the last. I brought my own pistols, but also rented a rifle from the range safety guy. I asked him how to set the sights as I had never shot this particular rifle before. He said he wasn't familiar with the rifles and didn't know how to set the sight. I asked if anyone there could set the sights, as I didn't want to hit anything down range..target holder, ceiling, etc. Range safety guy told me to just take it, I'd figure it out. Well, I never could figure it out as it was a collapsible front sight and I haven't had any experience with them. I shot the rifle many times and did accidentally hit the target holder. I went in and told the range safety guy I hit the target holder and tore up the piece of plastic that holds the paper target itself. As I was apologizing he interrupted me and said "you bought that piece of plastic". I didn't understand exactly what he meant, but certainly did when I went to check out and pay. I was charged a damage fee because the person at the front counter said I did damage to the target holder mechanism. I explained the situation and that I didn't know how to adjust the sights and the range safety guy didn't either. Didn't matter, they didn't care and I still got charged the damage fee. read more
