Incredibly attentive (by default) he was great at answering our questions and making recommendations. I tried out the Balacera - boasting both mezcal and absinthe, two widely hated spirits on their own which had the potential to make it disgusting...and it was fantastic! Super unique and refreshing on the particularly muggy day. We also ordered a cherry vodka soda, which came topped with homemade maraschinos and juice, which was equally tasty. We also tried out a gin daisy and ghost of greyhound (a nod to the location previously being a bus station, hence, the BUS moniker). The gin daisy was a little too heavy on aperol for my tastes, but the ghost was another hit. It was great to see a specialty menu of drink combinations you don't often find. We didn't stick around for food, but couldn't help but take in the cute decorations and details both inside and out. A fun addition to the widening "trendification" of downtown Corpus. I do believe I will be adding this to my rotation when in town!

If you're looking for a casual, friendly, and all-around great spot for a drink downtown, Pop's Bar…read moreis the place to be. It has a fantastic, laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel like a local, even if it's your first time visiting. The vibe here is exactly what you want from a neighborhood bar: good music, a casual setting, and plenty of space to hang out with friends. They often show sports games (go Cowboys!), so it's a great spot to catch a match with a cold beer in hand. The drinks are a major highlight. They offer a solid selection of beers and craft cocktails, and the bartenders really know their stuff. Check out their daily specials; try one of their themed cocktails, which are delicious and well-balanced. The service is consistently fast and friendly, with bartenders who are attentive and genuinely happy to help you find the perfect drink. Plus, having BBQ and Grill operating right there is a game-changer! The food is top-notch bar fare--think loaded brisket nachos and delicious fries--making it easy to turn a quick drink into a full, satisfying evening. Whether you're stopping by for happy hour, a late-night bite, or just to unwind, Pop's Bar Downtown delivers a consistently great experience. It's not the fanciest of places, but they have high aspirations. Maybe even infinite aspirations. Pretty basic, really. It'll be a kind of hip-hop vibe more at night, and they'll push drinks that cater to the crowd. There's a bar in the back, and in the front. Back bar might not be open, depending on the crowd that night. When I was here two girls got in a fight in the back bar area, and had to be separated. Kinda ratchet in that way.

If you're LGBTQ+, I'd recommend coming with friends to feel more at ease. The space is cleaner than before. They start serving tacos at 7 PM and karaoke kicks off at 9 PM, which adds a fun touch to the evening. It's a solid spot for a casual drink, but personally, I think it shines more in the early morning hours than late at night. I'll likely be back for that mellow morning atmosphere.
