The Rail's End omelette

Why have I waited so long to dine here?! Food was awesome (I had the Rail's End omelette). Charming ambiance. Very hometown type dinner. Everyone seems to know each other. Will DEFINITELY be back to try other menu items.

Back seating area with interesting nostalgic items.

The food is always good. They seem to be busy whenever I go. The order is always correct.

This is a fun little restaurant. Lots of memorabilia to see. Excellent sandwiches and basic meals. One of our favorites.

We were hungry so we ordered a little of everything: Lobster bisque, Rosemary fries, grits with cheese ,french toast, and the million dollar bacon. We also ordered the Good Morning meditation. Everything was delicious and absolutely no complaints. Thank you to our server Chanda

Our breakfast was delicious, generous, and came out remarkably quickly, even though the place was absolutely hopping (always a great sign). The teamwork among the waitstaff was impressive. Our table was greeted right away by one waitress who got us started and let us know our server would be with us shortly. Shonda, our waitress, was friendly, upbeat, and genuinely welcoming--she even shared tips on local vinyl record shops. Brothers offers a wide variety of flavored coffees and fresh-squeezed juices, and the portions are huge. One thing I always notice in a restaurant is the mood of the other diners, and everyone here seemed happy. Many were clearly regulars who know the staff well. Great food, fast service, and a joyful atmosphere. We'll absolutely be back.

It pains me to leave a mere two-star review but I couldn't find much to like here. The quaint…read moreambience, friendly service (we were one of the first guests to arrive on a Friday morning mid-May) and fresh brewed decaf were the highlights. The food, which is most important, was a big disappointment. I am a cinnamon roll connoisseur and was so excited to try the rolls that past Yelpers raved about. They were out of caramel today so we ordered the grilled roll with pecans and homemade buttercream frosting. It looked dry and tasted even drier. Barely warm, flourey and tasteless. The frosting was the best part. The menu of choices looks wonderful and diverse for a small cafe. I was delighted to see shrimp and grits. The skillet was very small, the food was hot (a plus) but it was heavy on the grits, which lacked flavor and space on shrimp (only 4), sausage and sauce. I ate the toppings with half the grits and left the rest. My husband ordered the hoagie sandwich with hash browns. His comment was "a lot of bread and minimal filling" with "luke warm" hash browns that were more spongy than crispy. It's hard to go wrong with breakfast, but somehow Lazy Toaster has missed the mark. The concept is fun, the menu is great, yet the recipes and preparation could use some major improvements. The tab ($41 for two) was not bad, but was high for the quality. We liked the decor yet felt the cleanliness was lacking (sticky floors and no paper towels in the bathroom). A breakfast place in East Tawas is a plus; I hope this cafe commits to some improvements and stays around.

Accompanying hash browns were equally well made and tasty where just the right amount of grease/butter was used to make my food (no greasy food here!). This all too often is an issue you see with these small breakfast centric restaurants up north that I was so pleased not to see here at the Lazy Toaster. Relative to the restaurant and staff, Lazy Toaster has a nice comfortable rustic "Up north" feel to it which I enjoyed where the staff was super friendly with great follow up throughout the meal and and where they are definately on top of their game when it comes to Coffee top-offs. Nice! Overall, this is definately one of the better breakfast spots in the greater Tawas/Oscoda/Harrisville area and is now on my short list of go to restaurants in the area.

My friend lives…read moreclose to Mcpherson's and she's been inviting me to breakfast for a while, so I finally had a free morning to go. I've heard this place had the humongous cinnamon rolls and I knew I had to get one. The small could feed 3 people easily and the family size is HUGE. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and bacon. The bread was fresh made and the gravy was delicious! Coffee is always piping hot and service cannot be beat! This place gets busy and I can see why. The food was great, service was outstanding and the homemade bread, cookies and cinnamon rolls are the stars here. If you're ever by Millington, stop by here. You'll be glad you did!

The American fries were the closest thing to what my mother used to make a long time ago. Service was excellent. She talked about the cinnamon rolls. I bought a small one to go which was anything but small (very delicious I might add). I was an hour away from home on my way through for the day's activities. My wife and I will go there soon. Thank you for a great start to my Saturday. It was my birthday too but I don't mention that to people.

We were greeted promptly, our order was taken when we were ready and the food arrived piping hot. Our coffee was filled without asking. These qualities aren't always present with many establishments. Heard the words please, thank you and you're welcome more times than I can count. Great staff. I ordered their most popular breakfast item: corned beef hash. It was perfect. Homemade fried potatoes, ample chunks of meat and eggs over medium that brought together all the flavors. The toast, rye, was yummy. They also have homemade white bread for toast, homemade donuts and cinnamon rolls. Again, another hallmark of a great diner: good cooks and bakers. My husband had the daily special: 2 eggs, meat, potatoes and toast. He said it was perfect. Walt's will be our go-to breakfast spot when near Caseville
