My wife and I stopped in after doing laundry down the street. We were there for a late lunch. Only two small tables were taken. We chose to sit at the bar. Our bartender/server was terrific and very friendly! We queued up some music on their AMI jukebox and ordered drinks. I decided on a tall draft IPA while my wife decided on iced tea. For our meals, I decided on a cup of ham and bean soup and their salmon salad. My wife ordered the ham & cheese on a pretzel bun with the house chips. It was served hot. I really don't think the chips were house made. They seemed to be out of the bag. Though the ham was a little on the salty side, she enjoyed her sandwich. I liked my salmon salad overall; however, it was made with iceberg lettuce making it taste very pedestrian. read more

Stopped by for late lunch on a Saturday. Our waitress Melissa was awesome five plus stars to her. Atmosphere is 1990s bar. They should update for sure. I had the chef salad and it was pretty good - dressing on the side dressing was gross. Hubby had a burger it was just OK. Food wasn't bad I'd go again. But the waitress was slow as all heck. And I don't think it was slow I think she just didn't pay attention to the customers like she should have. (Maybe she don't know how to multitask?) Example we all had menus down and was ready to order and she was doing something else that could have waited. A "nicer" bar and grill operation with a rustic atmosphere, and after two stops here, I'm impressed. Went in last Friday for dinner; the Saloon was nearly full, but being alone, I took a bar seat. Three or four craft beer selections were on tap, and I got a Revolution IPA. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad for dinner, and I knew at first glance I wasn't to leave hungry. It was big, with fresh greens piled high on a platter and a generous scattering of spicy chicken chunks. I could have used less of the shredded cheddar, especially when the bleu cheese (which is key to buffalo chicken) was abundant to begin with. Next time I'll have it left off. Overall, though, a very satisfying meal. Today I visited for lunch and discovered a menu of $5 lunch specials (see pic). I got the burger + 1/2 order of fries, and honestly, there may not be a better $5 burger deal around. It features a 1/3 lb. patty, which was juicy and flavorful despite being well done (the bartender hadn't asked me how I wanted it cooked and I was too hungry to think about it). I splurged for the "deluxe" version (.30 upcharge), which includes lettuce/onions/tomato/mayo. The veggie toppings were all fresh and complemented the meat well. Fries were a little on the soft side, but still fine. Service was friendly on both occasions, though the bartender was kind of swamped on the Friday night and I did wait longer than I'd have liked to order and pay, but that's what you can expect when you dine in prime time at what has to be one of Vassar's best chow houses. read more

In the past 4 or 5 years I've eaten that Cork Pine I've never had a bad meal, servers have always been nice. It's typical American comfort food, nothing fancy however quite filling. Meals are reasonably price for the amount, portion, of food provided per meal. If there was free WIFI I would have added an extra star on my review. read more

We ordered breakfast and I ordered a philly cheese omelet with the onions well done. The onions were completely raw. I've never had a philly cheese sandwich where the onions weren't cooked. The server was efficient, and apologetic but still paid full price for an omelet I couldn't eat most of. The hash browns were only done on one side. They were also ordered well done. They have food and drink specials everyday. the bacon cheeseburger is my favorite WOW i can't believe i waited so long to try it, all the other food is up to par as well. long islands are really good here, go to drink. 2 drink limit per person but for good reason. the waitstaff is awesome i couldn't ask for better service really, stop by you won't be disappointed! read more

My wife and I were recently staying in the area and we needed to grab a bite to eat close by. We decided on this place. They have nice big parking lot in the back, which was convenient. Upon entering you could get a nice whiff of the bathrooms. YUCK. Urinal cakes. Not good. We weren't expecting much. This place looks much nicer from the front than what it really is. It has zero personality and it just a big square room with beer mirrors on the walls. Nothing special for sure. They had two boards up with their specials. Not much to look at, but they DID have specials. I ordered fish and chips and my wife ordered Pot Roast. First off, I got some cole slaw. I didn't expect much. It was wonderful, homemade slaw - done right !!! The fish came and it was really good. Lightly coated and 3 huge pieces !!! My wife got her Pot Roast and it was homemade and tasty. Our waitress was friendly and pretty quick considering the place was quite busy. We were really happy with our meal. Yeah, the place doesn't look like much, but the food makes up for it. You can get some really decent homemade food at this place. It's worth a stop for sure. read more

This place really could be better than it is. They key is being consistently good. I have had several good meals, but most were lacking. My salads have come with different toppings one day to the next. One day there's cold chicken, the next it's warm, third time it was covered in cheese, next time the cheese was melted, etc. The chips, waffle cut, can come either crispy or soft, covered in salt or not. My gyro one day came to me just a pita and three strips of meat. Where was the tomato, lettuce, and onions that the menu said it would come with? MIA. The saving grace is the $5 lunch menu where you can get a burger and fries, salad, nachos, etc. for about $5, unless you get something deluxe. Before I forget, the coney dogs are definitely not Flint style. The amount of sauce they come with varies too, from being overflowing and I used a fork to eat to hardly anything that the bun closes around. In short, it's a good pick over McDonald's but it could be so much better with a little more effort. read more

The waitress's are ridiculously rude. Every time I have come in I feel this way. Last year, for mine and my three siblings, our first Father's Day without our father, our waitress rolled her eyes and pft'ed children, when we asked for a simple refill, or a simple needed question, on a very hard day, for us. We all avoid coming here, but even when I place an order, you get the same thing. Think it may be time for new staff or a wake up call on the current evil's. Vassar is a dark desolate hole of a town, with kids being mischievous at Harper park and bridge construction that never ends, but in the middle of it all there is a tiny light named Cork Pine. If you ever want to know what Jesus' hair taste like, order the baked spaghetti. I would do anything to have this meal. I literally spent 14+ hours with Tom Goforth to have this dish... It took us 15 minutes of sitting before a waitress came to see what we wanted to drink. The service was horrendous and the worst service we had had anywhere in a long time. The food was okay, my father in law and I had a wet burrito, the beef needed more seasoning, or a better seasoning. It was a good portion though. My wife had the chicken quesadilla and my mother in aw had a beef quesadilla. They both liked those. We also got wings and they were greasy and not very good. We sent them back.
