Wonderful location..... Right next to one of the better castles in Dalkey! I have been here a few times now and the food is of a high quality. The last time I was here, I brought three older ladies with me two of which had food allergies and the staff were very helpful. The staff are nice. One can sit inside or outside with a view of the castle. The bathroom facilities are also quite nice. They accept bookings, and card. Very close to public transport, (i.e. the DART). Can walk from Sandycove historical trail right too the bar/resturarnt. I will be going again.

Love their chicken wings and steak on the stone! The place could be so busy in the weekend tho!!

    Steak & kidney pie

I came here Sunday for lunch and to be honest I was very disappointed with what I got as was my partner. I started with soup which was far too sweet for vegetable soup. Against my better judgement I got kidney & steak pie with mash. I never liked kidney but that was as a kid so I thought maybe my palette had changed - nope. Now don't get me wrong that is not the fault of The Queen. The pastry of the pie tasted like it had been left under heat lamps or such, it was quite chewy. The mash was yum! His burger looked rather sad and he said it was OK, not anything to write home about. Plus side is the service is great and homely. Wonderful Sunday afternoon atmosphere, full of folks having pints and coffee. It to me is not a go to food spot but rather a place to drink and maybe get a sandwich etc to compliment your drinks. They do run great lunch specials Monday through Friday. I would never not eat there again I just would not go there expecting to be wow-ed.

We stopped in for dinner after a day in Dublin. Very friendly staff and it happened to be Tuesday and Thursday are half price wine specials. Starting with the blue cheese salad which was perfectly dressed and very crisp. The dinner menu had many choices including Steaks served on searing stones. We both decided on the rack of lamb and we were not disappointed. Served with potatoes and vegetables and a rich sauce it was a very tasty meal. We added the creamed spinach and of course a bottle of Pinot Noir. A very nice combination. Dessert was equally delectable, a bread and butter pudding with ice cream.... our waitress was warm and attentive. She even ran outside ahead of us leaving the table and flagged us a cab. We chose this place because of the food comments and we were pleased with the experience.

Great pub and grub in Dalkey. When it's sunny you can sit outside facing the street and people watch. A great spot for a bit of celebrity spotting perhaps. The service is average and the food not bad at all. Would come back here again.

Highlight of our evening was a 99 in a cone for dessert!

6 of us went here for dinner and drinks for a friends 26th birthday last week and none of us would be in a rush to go back. The food was below average with raw chips being the low point. The steak on the stone was nice, if not a bit impractical spacewise - unless you had 2 people sharing a huge table it was a bit cramped for the flamboyantly large stones. Apart from one staff member, all the staff were unable to cope with the rush of a Saturday evening. The worst part of the night was how the staff handled a drunken altercation that occured. They watched and laughed as one patron escorted another into the alcove at the smoking area, promptly punched him the face and then left. The staff didnt assist the fallen man whose face was a bloodied mess, allowed him to leave without seeing how he was and then cleaned a pool of blood up without any gloves or health and safety precautions. Its a pity about the staff and food as the music was unbelievably good! Maybe we got a bad night but it seems a change of management is needed here. I wont be going back and I wouldnt recommend the Queens.

The four of us went there for dinner tonight. Two of us ordered from the early bird menu. The other two ordered the steak dinner on stone. We also had a bottle of wine, which we liked very much! The wine was half price tonight. Our food was delicious and the service was great! We enjoyed a lovely evening at Queens! Food: 4.5 stars Service: 5 stars

I went to Dalkey for the lobster festival, and had dinner here. They had a special menu for the weekend. The sun was out and it had stopped raining, so we were able to get a seat outside. It was really busy. People were drinking and eating, sitting under their shade area. It felt like a proper summer day out. I ordered the dublin bay scampi, which come with salad and chips. I was very happy with my food. The early bird, which was better value, was not being served because the restaurant was busy, and because of the festival, so that was a disappointment. I had prosecco with my food, but the brand they gave me by default wasn't too good. The waiters were really friendly, and the food came out fast.

Celebrated birthday at the Queens Bar. The food was lovely but the evening was spoiled by rudeness and abruptness of on-duty manager.

Had an 'old man' bar look coming from it but when I tried it out, was wishing I hadn't pre-judged and took so long to visit this place. This is a cosy pub on the main street, decent space inside with plenty of tabled seating and bar stools, of course. Has a TV so when a game is on, this is a great place to chill out watch the sports and enjoy a drink. Very typical Irish bar in terms of options, if you are looking for all the craft alternative drinks this isn't for you but it has all the usual classics Guinness, Heineken, Budweiser and then full stocked fridge with the usual bottled beers and spirits galore. I've been here and enjoyed a quiet drink with the husband but have also been here with a group of friends and have enjoyed it on all occasions. The atmosphere is really chilled and people are always welcoming. As a touristy village of course there is always the fair share of tourists sampling Guinness or checking out their Dalkey walking map which is nice sometime to give them a little tip or trick as they venture off up the coast road. This place ticks a number of boxes: - Quiet Drink with a read of the papers - Quiet Drink and catch up with a friend - Lively Drink with a group of friends - Lively Drink Watch Sports (football, gaelic, rugby, whatever your sport of choice is) Friendly staff who are always chatting with the locals and keeping the glasses full... they balance the attention well, nothing too intrusive but yet know there are there and on the ball to see the next round of drinks come timely :-)

The teeny tiny town was about a mile away and had a couple pubs which was surprising considering most towns in Ireland have the streets dotted with pubs. The hotel and locals said go to The Magpie and we did and had a great meal. The portions were humongous and we ordered way too much food. Of course we had to try the local version of the seafood chowder which did not disappoint as it was loaded with tons of seafood. We also got a seafood linguine. Likely it was since the kitchen just opened that the oil wasn't hot enough or the chips were put into the oil still frozen/cool. So while the chips flavor was spot on this is more of a glitch than consistent problem. The the crab and crawfish cakes came out and they were cooked perfectly and very tasty. It was a light lunch as my friend and I shared the chips as a starter and then ordered starters for our meals. It was more than enough . The restaurant has a great view of the intersection and the shops looking towards Dalkey Castle. Inside it was clean and spacious as the tables were spaced apart to feel not close.
