Kings Inn is a very deceiving little place. Initially tried other pubs when I moved into this village and it was awhile before I ventured in... Had an 'old man' bar look coming from it but when I tried it out, was wishing I hadn't pre-judged and took so long to visit this place.
This is a cosy pub on the main street, decent space inside with plenty of tabled seating and bar stools, of course. Has a TV so when a game is on, this is a great place to chill out watch the sports and enjoy a drink. Very typical Irish bar in terms of options, if you are looking for all the craft alternative drinks this isn't for you but it has all the usual classics Guinness, Heineken, Budweiser and then full stocked fridge with the usual bottled beers and spirits galore. I've been here and enjoyed a quiet drink with the husband but have also been here with a group of friends and have enjoyed it on all occasions. The atmosphere is really chilled and people are always welcoming. As a touristy village of course there is always the fair share of tourists sampling Guinness or checking out their Dalkey walking map which is nice sometime to give them a little tip or trick as they venture off up the coast road. This place ticks a number of boxes:
- Quiet Drink with a read of the papers
- Quiet Drink and catch up with a friend
- Lively Drink with a group of friends
- Lively Drink Watch Sports (football, gaelic, rugby, whatever your sport of choice is)
Friendly staff who are always chatting with the locals and keeping the glasses full... they balance the attention well, nothing too intrusive but yet know there are there and on the ball to see the next round of drinks come timely :-) read more
