    Queen show March 2025

Awesome funky venue! We need to keep history and smaller venues alive and this place is a perfect example of how to do that. Sound was excellent for the show, good service and pretty reasonable prices at the bar. Expect fun drinks and a pretty limited menu of fried options for food (go out in the town for dinner!). It was very clean and stocked all around. Get on their emails, find a show to come out for, you will enjoy!

I was happy to attend an event at 'The Queen'! The last time I was here it was managed by 'World Cafe Live' and now it is a 'Live Nation' venue! The architecture is spectacular and I live the pics of Icons all around and the other lovely decor! The staff were friendly and helpful and the acoustics are fantastic! I attended the YELP Elite 'Bowie Live' Tribute Show! The band was good-singing and Music was tight! The crowd enjoyed the song selections and everyone appeared to be having a great time! My only issue is the costs of libations-cups of soda were $4 and alcohol was overpriced-but i know that sometimes comes with having a night out!

Big, BEAUTIFUL venue in Delaware. The decor is stunning and colorful. Great art, photos, lighting, chandeliers, etc! The place itself is very large and nice and spacious inside. We didn't feel overcrowded while watching 'Chillin' With Charlie.' Who were excellent btw! Since it's so large, the acoustics weren't the best - a bit bassy or something. Drinks and finger foods - available, but I can't rate bc I didn't partake. Norah Jones will be there in July, but the show is sold out. I'd absolutely go back!!!

The Queen is in fact a majestic and wonderful place in an nouveau trashy chic way. it's decor is Fred Sanford meets Liberace. This makes it unique and definitely exciting when you attend an event. I was fortunate enough to receive tickets free from Yelp to attend a show of the movie Fight Club. As an avid movie goer this is one I've never seen. This is the 20th anniversary of the film it was enjoyable especially seeing a young Brad Pitt. It was a different presentation of the film there was a cosplay contest it's was fun as well as the interactive crowd. When I arrived the staff was friendly and helpful. The entire venue was clean including the bathroom. There were games and prizes. What a fun place. I really like photos on the walls of various Queens and Queen-Esque people.

Big thank you to the Queen, Live Nation and Yelp for getting me and my plus one in for a movie night screening of Fight Club, it's twentieth anniversary. This theater has a special place in my heart. As an interior design student of the Delaware College of Art & Design right down the street we were given the Queen's floor plan for a design project right as it was being refurbished for World Cafe Live. Since then Live Nation has taken over and a few other things have changed since my last visit in 2014. You absolutely can not go inside and wait before they say so so know that. If you are early you will be outside. And you will be checked by security literally as if you were entering a government building. Once inside we checked in and to my surprise we were offered four complimentary tickets to two upcoming shows. The space was set up nicely with chairs, high tops even couches and dramatic mood lighting. They were also serving cotton candy and popcorn. I didn't indulge in either but did have a large beer from Stitch House Brewery (located down the street) that cost a whopping 14.00. Damn, that's like five Buds. The crowd was very into it. I was too. A fun grown folks movie night.

VENUE/SERVICE: Pre-show: We arrived 20 minutes before the event and were told to wait outside in the rain. Literally it was only 4 of us standing there, not sure why the lobby wasn't an option. Waitress was nice. Bathrooms were clean. I asked for a straw, they said they don't give out straws. Breh... FOOD/DRINK: Um, just gonna be honest... Food tasted like it came out of the frozen section of Walmart with some basil sprinkled on top. Drinks...meh? DECOR: Small stage, plenty of space, bar in the back. Full body mirror in the bathroom. It's okay, but not flashy. EVENT: Some guidance on the schedule would have been helpful. We were under the impression that food and drinks would be served during the show. Showing up fashionably late was actually the right thing to do. I mean, all the other attendees arrived an hour late. Instead we were forced to drink then eat before everything started...bummer. Also we had no idea you were supposed to bring 1's to tip the performers...Embarrassing, but I'll take the L there and google next time. It felt more like a strip joint than an actual show. CONCLUSION: Just okay.

Very cool venue. Standing room only on first floor for general admission but the second floor had lounge seats. Not a bad view in the place. Drinks were about $11.00 a piece typical of a concert venue. VIP seating is extra however the prices are not set in stone and you can haggle the price. Great acoustics.

It's an annual tradition-- the Montana Wildaxe Christmas Show!

The Queen is a great venue to experience live music. The sound system is great, and the sound guys get it right, whether you're upstairs or downstairs. Ever since Live Nation took over the venue, the ticket prices have gone up due to TicketMaster's fees, which is why I'm taking a few stars off, perhaps unfairly. As a performer, it's sometimes hard to figure out who to talk to for certain things, which can be frustrating, and it certainly isn't the home base for the better local bands that it used to be. But I also understand businesses exist to make money, so I know they just did what they had to do. If you're attending to see a touring band, you'll have a good experience, though the drink prices are pretty steep. $10 for a small-ish plastic cup of red wine? Ouch. Anyway, parking is convenient, and the staff is very friendly. The backstage area is decent for performers, too.

Great venue. Parking is right next to the venue on 5th street for $5 (if you can't find street parking). Twenty bucks for two giant cans of beer, but that's to be expected for a Live Nation venue. Bathrooms for the guys were pretty impressive, but I was told the stales in the ladies room were a bit small. I took away a star for two reasons: the bass at times was so muddy, it had a distorted wobble effect anytime the bass player played a note below a low A; make sure you shift your weight from one foot to the other every three seconds or else you will be glued to the floor. I have never experienced such a sticky floor in my entire life.

The bartenders are the heart of the experience. They don't just pour drinks; they create them. There's real skill and artistry behind the bar, and the conversation is as good as the cocktails. You can tell they care about balance, technique, and presentation. The Walk in the Garden gin cocktail is the perfect example: bright, layered flavors, premium ingredients, and that lavender garnish that hits your nose before the first sip. The scent alone sets the stage for the drink. It's thoughtful, elegant, and exactly what a craft cocktail should be. The food holds its own right alongside the drinks. The skillet meatballs come out tender and full of flavor, the kind of dish that disappears faster than you expect. The potato skins are crisp, satisfying, and exactly what you want with a cocktail in hand. And the homemade Baileys cheesecake is the kind of dessert you plan to share but end up guarding with your fork. It's rich without being heavy, with that unmistakable homemade touch. One of the best parts of Hummingbird to Mars is the tapas-style menu. You can eat as much or as little as you want, a couple of small plates with drinks, or a full progression from appetizers to dessert. It gives you the freedom to shape the night however you want, without committing to oversized entrées or predictable bar food. And that's the bigger point: places like this don't happen by accident. They come from creativity, risk-taking, and a commitment to doing things well. If we don't support small businesses that put this level of care into their craft, we'll be left with nothing but the same chains serving the same menus everywhere you go. Hummingbird to Mars is the antidote to that; personal, inventive, and genuinely memorable. From the first sip to the last bite, it's a place that delivers an experience, not just a night out. It's worth supporting, worth returning to, and worth celebrating.

Gulman is like a modern-day Scheherazade, spinning stories that hold the audience spellbound. He pulls you in so completely--you're laughing one moment, moved the next, and before you know it, the show has ended and you're left wanting more. His narratives are intricately interwoven with a mix of obscure and familiar references that reward attentive listeners. Gulman manages to be hilarious, self-deprecating, vulnerable, and razor-sharp all at once. Beneath the humor, you always sense his compassion and commitment to social and economic justice. My only reservation was a small but noticeable shift in tone: he used the F-word a handful of times. What makes Gulman so distinctive is that his comedy has always been brilliantly intelligent and genuinely funny - without relying on cursing. It felt slightly out of step with his otherwise clean style. That said, it did little to diminish what was, overall, a truly memorable and deeply affecting evening. Strongly recommend the show! A brief note for the venue itself: it might be worth considering a slightly delayed start--just a few minutes past the stated time--to allow late arrivals to settle, followed by closing the doors once the performance begins. The steady trickle of people finding their seats was distracting not only for the audience but undoubtedly for the performer as well. Additionally, a clear, firm announcement at the outset about refraining from cellphone use would go a long way. During the show, a guest in the front row was scrolling on her phone, and the glow and movement were quite disruptive to those nearby--one can only imagine how noticeable it must be from the stage. Small adjustments like these would help preserve the immersive, attentive atmosphere that a performance of Gulman's caliber truly deserves. Beautiful venue, comfortable seats, great acoustics and ambiance. Very affordable tix. The view from Orchestra, Row D, Seat 6 was OUTSTANDING!

A small selection of local beers and basic wines were available at the folding table in the back for $2-$4 each, (hooray for tax-free Delaware!), as were free handfuls of chips, nuts and crackers, served up by friendly gild members. The seating/dancefloor layout struck me as odd, with 6-10 rows of folding chairs starting halfway back from the elevated stage. This did provide a generously sized standing/dancing area in front of the stage, however, with everyone seated during the more subdued opener, there was quite an awkward distance between performer and audience. This took away from the potential intimacy of the venue, and the performers commented on it. "Hello, everyone... out there. You're so far away." On to sound. The mix for the opening band was spot-on, vocals and acoustics were full and clear, with great balance between drums, keyboard, and acoustic guitar/vox. The headlining band seemed to pose more of a challenge for the sound guy. Vocals were barely audible over the drums, bass, synths, guitars and sampling. When vocals were bumped up, the mics squealed. This well-versed and well-traveled Brooklyn band usually flaunts lush, layered vocal arrangements, so the imbalance between lost vocals vs. harsh feedback was particularly frustrating. Later in the set sound improved some, but still lacked complete clarity and eq balance. Sound can be affected by a multitude of factors, of course. Faulty equipment, borrowed equipment, the space, house limitations, sound guy limitations. I can't say whether the problem was internal or external, especially after the opener's pristine sound, so I'm only deducting one star. Perhaps the effects-laden, shoegazey headliners were just too heavy for the venue. Still, I will be back when another great show skips Philly and lands in Arden. In the interest of improving atmosphere, I will avoid taking a seat.
