Honestly for the price point this place is just okay to me. It's kind of old, so the walls are super thin. We could hear people in the room next to us, outside, and the water pipes above us were so loud. There also isn't a hot tub! Sure the pool is warm but such a let down. Booked the Quail through Booking.com. It was an incredible stay and did not disappoint! Spacious, lots of greenery, away from the hustle and bustle in Monterey and Carmel by the Sea, gorgeous golf courses, heated pool, and lots of parking! Breakfast included? No, unfortunately. Rooms spacious? Yes! Ours didn't have a kitchenette or microwave, but it did have a fridge, balcony, and nice bathroom with a tub. Clean? Yes, nice and tidy. Free parking? Sorry, I don't recall. Have kids? Request for a room on ground level. As soon as we entered the room on the second floor, we received a call complaint that we were too noisy.. for walking around our room? Front desk isn't too bright as we JUST spoke with them AT the front desk and they knew my room number. Walked over, got in the room, received a call about those below complaining we were too noisy - no kidding. Told them we JUST got there and that was that. Avoid this annoyance and get a room on the first floor. TIPS. Leave your parking permit on your dashboard. They rent free electronic bikes (scooters?) to get around. Note the time they have FREE WINE in the lobby! Enjoy the heated pool if you have kids. Fire pits are lit at night - get your free s'mores at front desk and enjoy your snacks by the fire! ONE CON. Heading into the city? The left turn can be brutal as the main street can be quite busy at times. So just be mindful, patient, and take your time. Better late than not at all. Overall, we were very happy to have stayed at the Quail and have no regrets (besides the one complaint annoyance - but hey, that's people, am I right?). We were there to explore Monterey and Carmel by the Sea. We wanted space, quietness, privacy, and away from the busy traffic - this hotel location gave us precisely that and then some. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes. Highly recommended for some R&R and a quick weekend getaway! read more

I was here only for one night. Parking is free! The lobby does not have coffee, only in the early morning like 5 AM. They have hot water and tea though. The receptionist was nice during check in. They give free s'mores kits. There are campfires around the property. I had a relaxing night! Room: I had a room with two queens. It was very spacious! There was a separate shower and bathtub in the bathroom. There were black out curtains on the windows. I didn't realize there was a window on the ceiling until the sun shown down in the morning. Then I also noticed there were blinds to block out the sun on that too! The bed was so comfy. The blanket was so warm and seemed like down feather. They gave us two complimentary glass bottles of Martinelli's apple cider. Amenities: -Fitness center. I was here at night, so it was very dark. I only saw one small room with cardio equipment. No weights. -Spa. There was no water dispenser and no hair dryer. In the women's locker room, there were lockers, one shower, new bathrobes, one pair of slippers (that we saw), and fresh towels. The steam room was small but could fit at 4-5 people. -Pool. The pool is heated. I wish they had a jacuzzi! -Golf. I think they had a 9-hole course on the property, but I did not partake in this. -Golf shop/Golf club. This is a 10 minute walk from the lodge. You can rent and purchase equipment here. -Tennis/pickleball. Equipment is free to borrow. No shade for the pickleball court. One tennis court is covered in shade by itself. Not sure about lighting. No wind guards. -Restaurants. See website for hours. When I checked out around 11-12PM, the restaurant was closed. read more

Stayed at Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel and it was everything. My room had a little balcony, perfect for slow mornings with coffee or wine at night. The complimentary e-bikes were such a fun way to explore--I rode to Earthbound Farm for breakfast, sat outside with fresh pastries and sunshine, and took my time heading back. The afternoon wine and dessert hour was the perfect excuse to slow down and just enjoy. I ended up chatting with a couple who have been coming here for years and immediately got why. Everything feels effortless, from the staff to the peaceful surroundings. Whether you're here for golf, biking or just to unwind, it's the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay. Downtown Carmel is close by and if you go, dinner at La Bicyclette or Casanova is a must. Already planning my next trip back. read more

Quail Lodge has the potential to be a fantastic resort but I felt like it fell a little short. This was a special weekend for a group of RNs who formerly worked together and now meet up from different areas in California once a year. On the positive side, the resort itself is beautiful. The grounds, the lobby and the common areas were all very classy, clean, and spacious. We all booked individual rooms, which seemed to vary a lot in their layouts and newness. I had a room overlooking the pond, which was nice but between the bathroom and the main room, was soooo dark I could barely do my makeup. The bathroom begged for a renovation. The bed was comfortable though. My main issue were the inconsistencies with the front desk staff. All four of us encountered an attitude from the majority of the ladies working there. None of us were allowed to access our rooms before 3pm and mine wasn't ready till after 3:30pm. No apology or explanation as to why. I actually felt like the girl "assisting" me was messing with me. Every person in line was given a room assignment immediately except for myself. Half of us were given information about the resort, happy hour, parking etc. while half of us received no information whatsoever. I'm not sure if they were all new, inexperienced in hospitality or just unhappy. For such a nice resort, I just expected more and I will say, it's been a long time since I've encountered this level of unprofessionalism. The restaurants were both good. We had breakfast in the main restaurants twice, and while the food was good, our orders came out with about a 75% accuracy. I enjoyed a drink at the bar both nights. Parking is free. Uber/Lyft come really quickly to the resort which was nice for nights out in Carmel and Monterey. The Refuge Spa is only a couple minutes drive from the property. I might not stay here again but I think with some renovations and staff training the Quail Lodge could be a really nice getaway. read more

We had a really wonderful stay here for our anniversary weekend. We arrived a little before check in and were grateful they were able let us into our room early. These rooms are huge! It's almost like having your own little suite, complete with a little backyard patio area. There was also a full tub which is always appreciated since I love a good soak. Definitely more than just a nice place to rest our heads, this was a cozy place to call home for the weekend. We ventured off campus quite a bit but there was also lots to do here onsite, including a nice restaurant (reviewed separately), putting holes and complimentary putters, sipping hour from 3-4 and (my favorite) fire pits and complimentary s'mores kits! This was such a cute idea and just made the trip even more memorable than your typical hotel stay. Neither my husband nor I are golfers but we had fun practicing. It was also nice that the hotel was dog friendly so we could bring our dog with us around the property and there was plenty of grassy area for her. While I didn't make use of the fitness center, my husband appreciated that the pool was heated for his swims. The fitness center is modest (three rooms: one of cardio with a few treadmills, one for strength training with some dumbbells and a small rack, and one for yoga/stretching) but there is plenty here for everyone. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again and will recommend it for anyone else visiting Carmel! read more

This is a great golf course! Staff is really friendly and helpful. Driving range and practice area is first class and has everything you need and more. Course is manicured perfectly. Tee boxes, fairways, greens and rough are in excellent condition. The course layout is extremely fun. The greens are fast but not gimicky at all. Restaurant is really good for golf course food standards. All around this is a wonderful golf experience. I highly recommend giving this spot a try if you haven't already. One of the best and most underrated golf courses in Monterey County. read more

This could have been 5 stars except for the horrible service and noise, especially for $800/night. So incredibly beautiful! I enjoyed our (almost) relaxing stay here. I wish we stayed here longer rather than just an overnight stop before heading down the PCH to SoCal (btw the PCH is actually closed - double-check before you go because there isn't really any signage about it for awhile). Ambiance/Location: The lodge is located away from downtown Carmel, so you will need to drive into town. That said, this place is so peaceful because it's nestled away from the hustle and bustle. I felt instantly relaxed here with it's green golf fields and twinkling lights. Noise: Even though the ambiance/room was nice, there were people golfing with kids right outside of our room. There's not much privacy as people can look directly into your room from outside and from adjacent rooms. The noise level was quite high until sunset. Then in the morning, the grounds people started tending to the landscape quite early. We couldn't really enjoy our sleep or the view while the mowing, spraying, and equipment dragging was happening right outside, as lovely as the view was. Customer Service: This was the biggest let down. We pulled up to the lodge valet and waited for 5-10 minutes. No one was there to greet us. There's also no sign directing you where to go. My SO had to try the entrances to go inside. They don't really tell you much about the perks of your booking. The worst part of our experience was the check out. We dropped by the lobby to take a quick look before leaving. The front desk people did not greet us when we came in (actually turned away, moved to the other side of the reception desk). This didn't bother me much because the place is prettily decorated. However, when we came up to the reception desk to return our keys, the girl ignored us, then picked up the phone and continued to ignore us. Finally, we had to call out to her. She turned to look at us, but didn't acknowledge us. We asked if we could drop off out keys with her because we've already left out room/about to leave. Perhaps she wasn't a morning person, because she seemed really annoyed at us, and told us to put our keys back in the room before turning away. Up to this point, I would have still given the place a 4/5 stars, even with all the constructions and lack of amenities, but this really soured our experience. I would have bought the some Molton Brown products here, but there wasn't even an opportunity to. Note: We didn't get to walk around much because our stay was short and everything was closed. I would like to stay here again for longer to enjoy the experience, but am hesitant due to the service we received. The restaurant was also closed. Maybe we will sty somewhere else in this area to enjoy the views. read more

Wife and I came up for a couple of days on our way to the Chelsea FC match at Levi's. Have never spent time in Carmel but it was absolutely amazing. Property is clean and nice. Room was incredible. Large and spacious. Great TV and cozy balcony. Bath robes. Large tub big enough for two (wink wink). Restaurant was great. Had breakfast there with a nice little lake view. Only a 10 min drive from downtown Carmel and about an hour from Big Sur. Dog friendly which is great as next time we come up we'd love to bring the little ones. Thank you for a great stay. read more

What do I say?!?!? We arrived at 12:02pm (checkout time is Noon) and my wife was a First Class Passenger on the Struggle Bus from the Night before. I walked in and asked if there was any chance our room was ready. The absolutely adorable and accommodating Hannah worked her magic and got us in to a Bungalow so my wife could nap and refresh!!! This hotel is beautiful. Their grounds are beautiful. All the people at the front desk are so helpful and friendly. There is a restaurant on site, a pool, and a workout facility. Our room with two beds was HUGE! we didn't expect the room to be as big as it was with vaulted ceilings. I honestly didn't want to leave this hotel. I recently had the pleasure of spending a romantic weekend at the Quail Lodge and Golf Club, and it surpassed all expectations! We stayed in a Junior King Suite and it was probably one of the nicest "hotel" rooms i've ever stayed in! In terms of accommodations, anything we could have needed was provided at Quail Lodge (hello, heated bathroom floors lol); on top of that, we were gifted with a complimentary bottle of pinot noir and a box of some of the best chocolates I have tasted in a long time :) We ate breakfast at Covey Grill on Sunday morning. Our service was excellent. The food came out quickly and was delicious (he had the french toast, I had scrambled eggs and bacon). I don't usually enjoy eating outside, but dining on the deck next to the water was sublime! The grounds are a thing of beauty.... if you stay here take the time to walk around and appreciate the variety of the foliage and care that is taken to keep everything looking pristine. We didn't have time to stop and play the 9 hole course, but it would be fun to try out next time (I believe they said it's free and they can provide clubs and balls). Overall, the lodge was very quiet. Parking was easy. The staff here was friendly and attentive. It's a quick 10-15 min. drive to downtown Carmel. If you don't want to go downtown, there's a cute little dining/shopping center within walking distance of Quail Lodge. We could hear live music on Saturday night! I would stay here again in a heartbeat (this time we would play golf) and would recommend Quail Lodge to anyone visiting the Carmel Valley. read more

Recently we went on a trip to Northern California and we decided to drive the coast back home so upon one of the nights we impromptu chose to find a hotel for the night; and we came across the Quail Lodge, which was still open to take reservations. It worked out well and the staff was all more than accommodating and the grounds were well kept and the room was exquisite and very clean and well taken care of. Although, we didn't visit to golf, we were able to enjoy the stay and the views and had a lovely breakfast before we headed out. We also had a hybrid vehicle and attempted to use the charging station, but it was extremely slow charging. You'd probably need to leave it over night for a full charge, they should really consider upgrading their unit. read more

Absolutely wonderful resort! Pebble Beach is nice, but do yourself a favor and come to this quaint and secluded and magnificent green space. Nestled in nicely in a valley surrounded by Greenhills. The resort is private and top-notch. There is a nine hole putting course that I thought was made of fake grass, but turned out to be a perfectly manicured. Putting surface. Super nice establishment and venue. We stayed here for a company event. The property is very spread out. Upon check-in, they had all the rooms with keys ready to go, so it made for a fast and easy check-in. Our room wasn't too far from the lobby; in fact, it shared the same parking lot next door, but to get to the event venue on the green, you would have to drive if in heels. Our company provided a shuttle that would take guests back and forth. Some opted to walk as it's not a long one if in flats. Didn't utilize the spa but I'm sure it's nice. Golf course looked nice. The bar next to lobby is great! Good drinks, nice ambiance and décor. They closed at midnight, but we were able to go either outside on the deck, or in the library which is also next to the lobby. If you are planning a corporate event or a wedding, Quail will bend over backwards on every degree. Their staff was over the top! Overall, a great stay and I would come back again. read more

I was planning on a golf vacation to the Pebble area. Scheduled a couple of private lessons and a playing lesson with one of the pros at Spanish Bay. Now for the good, the bad, and the ugly. The bad and ugly was how disrespectful the people at Spanish Bay (from the parking lot attendant to the General Manager) as well as the Pebble Beach golf reservations staff (read the review under Spanish Bay Golf Links). Now for the good - I moved over to Quail Lodge and this salvaged my week golf vacation. Everyone that I w encountered has been focused on making my stay enjoyable. Is it expensive - it depends - calling the lodge directly will cost $400 for a bungalow (booking.com) is 25% less but it's still cheaper than the $1200/night at Spanish Bay where you are treated as a servant rather than as a guest. This review is about the Hotel, not the Golf Course which if rated would be a 5. Power outage severe yesterday in Carmel, and surrounding area. At 4pm our power in Pebble Beach went out and with a "restart" expected at 2pm the following day, we booked a room at the hotel. Packed a few items and the dog and drove to Quail. It had been about 2 years since staying at the Lodge -- nothing has changed. It's still "ok"-- just. Very tired but clean. Our room had no fireplace, but did have King bed. Coffee maker, 2 comp waters. Bed was comfortable, pillows were a "3". When I checked in I asked if they would Upgrade our room. I think we had premium King. Because of the storm the hotel was not full. Parking lots very light. I got a blank stare from the young lady at the counter. She ignored my request. So I told her since the hotel was relatively empty would she consider an UG. Basically No was the answer. My wife and I have traveled more than 30 years world wide for business and pleasure and on more occasions than not the Hotels go out of their way to do as much as they can to make their guests happy. Upgrades are easy. It's a training thing. Not the case here. Then I was told that because I had I brought my dog that we would have to pay $150 pet fee. I suppose that's their prerogative but $150 per night seems very excessive especially when one considers that nothing was included for the dog. No treats no blanket, no bed no water but dish. When you consider that that was over half the cost of the room, it just seemed crazy to me and I was very unhappy. The Portola Hotel in Monterey charges $50 a night and maximum of $150 per stay as an example. Last, each room's door is boarded by colored glass. And each has a strong outside light. When you turn out the lights in your room it becomes "Grey" is not dark and feels like a full moon is shining in your room. I found it difficult to sleep. I wouldn't stay here again for that one reason alone. In summary, the hotel sits on a beautiful site and it's really a shame that nothings been done to bring it up today, including that staff is present but not necessarily attentive and I suspect that the next time we need a hotel room will go somewhere else. Look, it's better than motel six but I'm not sure paying the extra dollars makes a whole Lotta sense. read more

RUN...if you want the worst hospitality , service , and cockroaches in your bathroom sink then yes book this place .... I say you are better off either staying home or scheduling a respectable establishment. Andrew the manager and Mackenzie the spa manager both failed to admit to a mistake and remedy the situation at once . Too bad I was looking forward to writing a nice review oh well.....never again ! My husband brought me here for my birthday weekend and what a BEAUTIFUL place. The rooms are big and comfortable. He got a bungalow and the tub and showers are huge. Their products are really nice and everything is decorated beautifully. I love all of the local plants throughout the lodge and the breakfast is delicious. If you get those tiny roasted potatoes, ask for a side of their aioli for dipping. So tasty. read more

We wanted a mini escape for our road trip to Carmel-by-the-Sea, so I booked a 2-night stay here on Expedia. I chose this place because it allowed dogs which was a plus. They had contactless curbside check-in which was great because I called them as I was outside and one of the staff members just stopped by with an envelope with all of my check-in information including two hotel keys. It would definitely be better if they upgraded to using mobile phones as keys like some other hotels do to not even have to deal with any check in measures. We got a room on the second floor. For a superior king bed room, it was very spacious and there was a patio as well. The rooms strictly followed CDC health standards and guidelines which we highly appreciated. They also sent me an email upon request with their cleaning protocol. I requested a room that was vacant for 3 days post cleaning to mitigate any potential risks and they accommodated this to the best of their ability. They charge a one-time $75 pet fee for the duration of the stay. The only con is the walls were paper thin. We could hear our loud neighbors laughing past midnight and we could also hear their TV through the walls. Not the greatest, but then again, we could have just been being unlucky with loud neighbors. House cleaning service also started super early so trying to sleep in was a bit difficult. If we do stay here in the future, it would be great to upgrade the room to further isolate us, but the price point is not the best either. This lodge is set up similar to mini apartments so we didn't have to worry about going through a lobby or dealing with crowds. We just walked straight to our room and there was ample parking. The pro is there was free hand sanitizer in the room! read more

Some days are so special to go out at a restaurant where the ambience must be unparalleled and have a nice, good dinner with family. So we landed on Edgar. The restaurant inside Quail Lodge. The ambience was beautiful and the servers were courteous but if you ask me about the food I don't have much good to say about it. We ordered gnocchi, lamb with mashed potatoes and hubby ordered chicken. I will say that the food was not good. The lamb was not well marinated and neither it was fresh meat. It gave out a stale smell and lacked taste. I had ordered mashed potatoes so they gave some water thing under the lamb piece which I have never seen in my life! So I called my server and asked him to get me a side of mashed potatoes. Still the mashed potatoes had a strange smell. I am not sure what they had put instead of butter. Now the chicken was also just broiled with no flavor so it was just something very plain and lacked taste. The gnocchi was too watery and not too appetising. Overall the restaurant have a great ambience, wonderful service but have bad food. How I wish if the chef learns how to make the dishes taste better with a good rub and marinate fresh meat. I will give them 3 stars. If you're not a member here, be expected to be treated like you're not a member. The course is very pretty and the greens are nice. Bar doesn't open until 11 and they only offer a drink cart before you start. We only saw it twice while on the course. When I made my tee time, they never said we would be paired with anybody. We found that out today when we checked in. They wouldn't let us start early, but pressured us to beat the four hour pace of play average. At the end we unloaded our clubs ourselves. There were members there checking in for an event so all of the employees were hob knobbing with all of them. For how much we paid to golf there, I would expect my clubs to be u loaded and maybe cleaned for us, like other country clubs do. But alas, we aren't members so we didn't get the service we paid for.
