I took my Yorkie/Bichon mix puppy, Chloe, here for the first time last week. The owner Vanessa was very informative with what she was going to do for Chloe and even listened to my suggestions about styling her fur into a certain cut. As a puppy, it was only Chloe's second time going to a groomer, so I was naturally a little nervous to see how she would act being bathed and trimmed by a stranger. When I came back from dropping Chloe off however, it was clear that there was nothing to worry about. Chloe came out a little tired but pretty happy, and looking and smelling absolutely lovely. The way her fur was cut was adorable and enhanced her puppy-like features. Vanessa gave me a summary on how grooming her was, as well as advice on how to keep her fur looking good and without mats for as long as possible. This is our first time trying this grooming company. It was a referral of a friend and we needed to groom my sister's Maltese toy dog who is a nervous dog that one needs lots of patients with. He's also a barker to strangers until you get to know him so there are times that it's a challenge for us to find a good grooming place around the burbs. When we arrived, the location is behind the veterinary clinic. The owner Vanessa is the one who works with you and takes care of the dog personally. I like that one on one service. She believes in using Healthy, nontoxic products for your pet grooming. She takes appointments only. She's available Tuesday through Saturday. It was nice that she also called the day before to make sure we are coming for our appointment. We brought our dog on a weeknight. She told us that she has been doing this business for about five years and she was very nice to our dog when he was nervous meeting her. so I know he will be in good hands. We brought instructions with pictures on how we want the dog groomed and she was open to our request. It's hard to find an affordable and good groomer. She even took time to review it and showed us a sample on how short we want his haircut. Her workspace was clean and had a fresh smell in the air. She was very nice and patient with us. After about an hour and a half we went to dinner and she called us to let us know that our dog will be ready in 10 minutes. My sister's dog looks like a little young boy again with a cute bandanna that we were able to pick beforehand. We ended up paying about $45 for grooming any special request was an additional $5 (nail grinding, anal sack) our total was $55. She was worth giving additional tip for great customer service as none of us has the patients to groom this little guy always whimpering and barking like were hurting him, geez. After searching through so many different grooming places I finally decided on the purple poodle to bring my 8 month old Hazelnut. It was her very first hair cut and I have ONLY been coming to Vanessa ever since. (Hazelnut is now almost 2) She does a wonderful job, loves all the doggies she grooms, shows pride and compassion in what she does and I don't think I will ever go to anyone else. Even through all the moves I've made I still decide to make the drive to only go to The Purple Poodle. There is also a doctor there in case you have any questions or concerns - Vanessa will bring the dog straight to the Vet if she has any doubt in her mind about anything that could be concerning. She takes 1 appointment at a time and avoids putting the pups in a cage while their waiting for the owner to pick them up. They have a nice little bed they rest on instead and get all the love in the world while being groomed. Vanessa is so gently and comforting while grooming - Hazelnut is a very hyper active pup but is extremely calm when Vanessa is working on her. Thank you Vanessa for all you do! read more

Her space is inviting and clean with very few dogs there at any one time, which our dogs find less stressful. Absolutely wonderfully. I cannot recommend this grooming service highly enough. My dog is a rescue dog, and despite al our efforts to train him, he hehaves very badly towards groomers. I am amazed vand how patient the groomer at purple poodle is with our do. She is so kind, to both us and to the dog. She even made a special appointment with me on her day off to help when our dog was sprayed by a skunk, and she somehow was able to not just get the skunk smell off him, but lesve him smelling fresh and wonderful. I cannot recommend the purple poodle enough read more

This is my second time coming to the Purple Poodle , I can confidently say I found my go to groomer! I have a 80 lb Akita who is not always dog friendly and is tolerable of baths but definitely does not like them. When I walk in my dog is hesitant to be there but actually likes it. She has come back fluffy and smelling awesome each time. Another notable difference for me with this groomer is that when I have gone to others, my dog comes back exhausted and not in the best of moods, not here, she comes out with a pep in her step and looking wonderfully. I have an elderly dog who at times acts like a grumpy old man, so I always get nervous as to how he is going to react to new people, especially when I was trying to find a new groomer after moving to the burbs. I found The Purple Poodle randomly while on a bike ride. I had Vanessa meet Magic prior to grooming him to cut his nails to see how he would do and I was amazed as to how kind and gentle and observant Vanessa was with my dog. He is starting to loose his hearing and eye sight with his old age and she made sure to approach him slowly to make sure he didn't get freaked out. My dog has now been to Vanessa multiple times, she continues to do an amazing job grooming him and has been able to get his little mustache back (which the last groomer butchered). She is always warm and welcoming to both of us. Her salon is clean and comfortable! I would 110% recommend Vanessa (and already have). read more

I hate to do this, but I have to rate this place a one star. I made an appt early in the week to bring in my elderly dog in for a nail trim. I was a first timer. I told her that my dog doesn't like her nails being trimmed (what dog does?) and may need a muzzle. She said to bring her by and she will give it a try. We made an appointment for 3pm Saturday. I went there today and the place was closed. I knocked on the door, went to the back door all was dark and no cars in the lot. I stressed my dog out for nothing. The place states that its open until 5. it wasn't open when I was there. I wont go back. :( read more

Vanessa was exceptional with my 4 month old Westie pup. She took so much time explaining what she would do on this first time to make sure our pup's first experience at the groomer was a positive one. This visit was mostly bath and nails but she also groomed around his face. When I went back to pick him up - he looked like he was ready for the show ring.
