Update: still 5 stars! I got a new puppy and he has been here a few times. He isn't the best and sitting still or following directions, but they've still managed great services. The first puppy cut they do a 1/2 service to get them used to it, which is a great idea. But it was still the same price. Either way now with my 2nd dog going there, I've always had good experiences. They do a small discount if you pay with cash. Small increase in price (that doesn't work out as well for tipping purposes). The fee for my 15lb dog was as much as the 60 lb dog which is unusual (well more with the price increase but that's normal, I think it was a $10 increase from the year prior) read more

I took my 9 month Pom mix puppy and she was nervous but after 5 minutes she did well and looked so fresh! The lady did a wonderful job on her haircut and she smelled so good! I was one of the first customers to bring my dog to Fresh Pals. Oscar was great. A friendly and kind person who seemed to have a great connection with the dogs that came in. I haven't seen him for a while. The groomers are great, but they seem unhappy lately. I'm extremely surprised by the price increase; they've become very expensive without forewarning. The prices are inconsistent now, ranging from appointment to appointment. The last grooming was 30% more than the previous month's grooming. My dog used to be fine going to FP, but now he shakes and cries when I leave him. I'm sadly searching for a new groomer. read more

I took my 6 month old puppy in for her first grooming. I was looking for a puppy cut, and they shaved her to the skin. She doesn't even look like the same dog. Needed to wash my dog last minute. At home washing was a definite no go. Called up during the late afternoon and was able to come in after 4:30 considering they start closing up around 5:30. I was able to bring my dogs own special shampoo for his skin condition. Was super easy to use everything. Super cool that you are given your own room w/ materials included to wash your dog. This made his anxiety go down knowing i wasn't going to leave him there and just come back later. They also give you clean dry towels along with a new toothbrush and toothpaste if you want to brush your dogs teeth. $25 to wash my own dog? Sold. Will definitely be coming in again!! read more

EDIT: I previously left a 5 star review for them and was very happy with my past experiences. This is the only groomer I've brought both my dogs to for their entire life. Last Saturday,the 26th, I dropped off my family dog ,Doobie and my own dog,Herbert for a full grooming. When my mom picked them up and brought them home, she noticed Doobie had a decently sized scratch on the inside of his leg and Herb had a puncture larger than a quarter on his!! I work in the dog industry and realize things like this happen but to not make me or my mother aware is completely irresponsible and negligent. Fresh pals is amazing. I've been bringing both of my doodles here for quite some time and have never had a bad experience. They listen to exactly what kind of cut you want for your dog and execute it beautifully. They never poodle cut my doodles or shave them! My dogs both have anxiety but come out of here very happy so I know they are treated well! I only trust them with my fur babies. read more

Went to a place I've never been before to support a local business. Walked in to a nice looking place and got a friendly greeting. After speaking with the owner and another younger girl they said it would be about 2 hours for a full groom minus hair trim. I went to eat and before I was done they texted me my pooch was ready for pickup. Upon coming back another warm greeting and my boy looked very happy as well. Paid and left. Nice clean place. We live downtown Chicago and hit this place on our way back into town by chance. We used the self wash station for our Great Dane. We live 35 minutes from here but we will ABSOLUTELY be returning here to wash our Dane from here on out versus Pet Supplies, PetSmart, etc. The most convenient dog wash station and fantastic customer service. It is so cute on the inside with little private suites for each of the dogs, and the shampoo and conditioner coming out of the faucet along with the smocks made it SO convenient (especially washing a dog this size!) Went in next day for my scheduled appt. they had no record of that. The woman that was there offered to take my dog and fit him in. I wasn't feeling very good as to the hinky-dink appointment making, and lack of returned calls/messages. I declined due to the issue bothering me the most. The woman was alone, dog barking in back, and she had left a yorkie-mix leashed on a grooming table alone to help me. I feared for THAT dog then of course I start imagining my 40lb Basset-mix in that scenario. I wanted to like this place as I'm looking for something a little closer to the house. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO FRESH PALS. There's a high chance your dog will return with nicks. We took our Yorkie to fresh pal a couple months ago. Granted, I took a while to write this review but I think it's important for customers to know. I took my 4lbs Yorkie in for a grooming and when I returned to pick her up 3 hours later the groomer was not done. But when he saw me walk in I saw him hide a tube of ointment real quick and I knew something was wrong. He went on to tell us that he had no problem grooming her. I noticed a chunk of fur from on her thigh and I realized it was where he put the ointment. My boyfriend asked him what happened and he said "she was being difficult and his hand nicked her slightly but she would be fine". The blood was dry and sticky cause of all the ointment and he said "don't touch it further cause you'll could tear it and and make it worse and then I won't be responsible". I was shocked. He then went on to ask us for the full payment of $65?! What made me mad was not the mistake as much as him trying to not mention it till we asked, hoping we wouldn't notice till later. I thought about writing a review but just decided it wasn't worth my time and I would just never go back. A couple days later we were walking our dog in the area. On of the groomers colleagues who didn't know about the incident said "you should bring your dog in". To which my boyfriend replied " no thanks our dog was cut and it took so long to heal". He went in and told the groomer who looked at us through the window and gave us the shadiest smirk and laughed with his colleague. It's sad that a groomer and a business like this exists and I wish I had written this review earlier to help all the fur families that would go through this dreadful experience. read more

My regular "self doggie wash" closed its door over two months ago, so I thought I would give Fresh Pals a try. I have to travel a bit further, but it was worth it! I was especially impressed at the HydroSurge machine and all I had to do was just use the hose and not have to scrub my dog down, which hurts my upper and lower back. We brought newest addition to the family in for nail clipping, and Juan didn't an amazing job. Kimbo has had poor experiences in the past and doesn't like his feet being touched. I was excited for my dog after reading these reviews. But 3 things I want to make you aware of 1. They dont follow customer requests, when I picked up my dog I was disappointed. We gave specifics as to how we wanted her trimmed and because they were already running 30 minutes behind I could not stay for them to correct. I was told I could bring her back but it has been 3 weeks and I have left 2 messages and still no return call. 2. Prices are high, especially when customer service is not granted ($134 with discount) . 3. I'm so happy I went here! I only wish that I'd taken our little one much sooner. I went in with pictures of other dogs to kind of give ideas, and Juan did exactly what I wanted and more! They shaved the matted hair in between her toenails, and clipped them perfectly. They really cleaned her ears well! They trimmed the hair around her tail beautifully. Seriously usually her tail is just kind of an afterthought with other groomers. I wanted to stress what was done because some reviews said negative things about this, but Juan did a GREAT job at listening to my desires for my Princess. She was so happy when we left. The staff, Juan, had his hands full. She needed a complete makeover, but when we saw her wow! She didn't look like a fat prune. Her hair was cut and trimmed so perfectly for summer. Our dog is NOT exactly friendly, but when we were leaving she jumped and licked Juan goodbye. Great job Fresh Pal's!!! You made her look great, feel great and have no anxieties afterwards. I have a senior lab who is no longer willing to get into our bathtub for baths. I took her to a groomer once, but my dog was very upset after that experience. So, I decided to give Fresh Pals self wash a try, and it was an extraordinary experience! My dog could walk right into the wash area unassisted. This is my review for grooming. The staff seemed nice, and they did a fine job on my dog -- but I was a little concerned that they didn't ask for any of my dog's vaccination records.
