After a horrible encounter at another location, we decided to try Dog N Scrubs. Michelle was Oliver's groomer and when we went to pick him up about 2.5 hours later, he looked great! She listened to us and didn't cut his tail and left his hair at the perfect length for this awkward time of year between winter and spring. Michelle was friendly and (with my permission) gave Oliver treats for being such a good pup during his bath and grooming. Dog N Scrubs has officially become our new dog grooming location and we will pick Michelle every time! For reference, my goldendoodle is 50-55lbs and we had a full bath, grooming, and nail trim for $75. After 9 years of going to Shear Pooch, I would strongly NOT RECOMMEND them at all. They state the last self service dog wash is 1 hour before close. I arrived at 2:30 pm on a Saturday, 1.5 hours before close, and was told they were "closed" for self serve. If Shear Pooch doesn't want to be in the business of self serve dog washing, then stop! My money will solely be going to Pet Supplies Plus in Glen Ellyn. They truly know how to provide good customer service! read more

Barb did a fantastic job on my dog Jamie. He came in with extra needs and she accommodated! Jaime was adopted and we found that his rib cage is uneven and he had cancer on his toe. We had the cancer removed which entailed removing a toe. So when we brought him in to Dog N Scrubs they made sure to watch out for his foot and match the rest of his feet to his shaved foot! They also made sure to cut his fur so that those bumps and curves weren't apparent at all. Barb was also very excited to help and accommodate for his needs. I will be going back! read more

I took our 5 year old Wheaten Terrier in for a grooming today and he looks the best he's looked since he was a puppy. I had grown dissatisfied with our previous groomer after he came back unevenly groomed time after time (and I even witnessed the groomer being rough and getting very impatient with my sometimes nervous dog). Upon entering Dog N Scrubs, our Wheatie was greeted kindly and gently by the front desk lady and the groomer. I felt good about leaving him. They were quick and thorough, calling me back just 2 hours after dropping him off (at the prior groomer, I often had to wait 4 hours). When I went back to get him, I couldn't believe how beautiful he looked: soft, not too short, full face, and precision cut around his gorgeous eyes. Truly wonderful. I think he knows he looks good. Note: The location shown on the yelp map is not correct. They are located in Glen Ellyn just past Main Street on Roosevelt Road. This place is okay to give your dog a bath, as long as it is not the winter! They have large tubs and hoses to spray your dog with. Shampoo is free, but Special shampoo or conditioner is two dollars extra. I would say this is not an ideal place to give your dog a bath in the winter for several reasons. The place is not warm inside, maybe mid sixties, which feels pretty cold if you're a wet dog getting a bath (mine was shivering the whole time). The water only gets to be luke-warm even when turned all the way to hot. Worst of all for my freezing cold dog, the blow dryer blew cold air- they do not get hot. When I asked the lady working if they had regular blow-driers with hot air, she responded that no, they do not have them because the hot air can dry out the dog's skin. Then she proceeded to try and sell me a $31 doggie towel-jacket claiming it would soak up the water and make my dog warm again. I said no thank you, not today. I was forced to dry my dog with the cold air because it would have been worse taking him wet out into the cold. Also, bring your own grooming tools. They don't provide combs or q-tips. Other than my dog being very cold, this place is all-right for a self-wash. Not sure if I will return though; it's more worth it to clean up the hair at home than to have my dog be so uncomfortable. read more

I volunteer frequently at DuPage Animal Control, and had learned from another volunteer that she brought two of our smelliest new charges here for grooming/bathing. Always wanting to support a business that supports helpless animals, I figured I would bring my babes here for their nail trims this time to see how we liked it! Upon walking in, I was immediately impressed with how bright and clean the place is. To the left is a whole row of bathtubs and to the right is an extensive retail selection. One of my dogs is not extraordinarily happy to be in the presence of other dogs, and I let them know right away just so there wouldn't be a meltdown in the store. To my delight, the woman who assisted us was completely unphased by a mean little dog and walked us directly to a back room out of sight of the other pups. While their nails were being trimmed, my extremely nice but fearful dog got scared and kind of faux-mouthed on our groomer. She didn't even miss a beat - she wasn't angry or upset, she let him calm down and then finished the job. Both guys were done in less than 5 mins. I was excited that nail trims are only $12 a dog and impressed at the friendly staff and clean interior. Next time they'll be back for a full grooming! read more

What a fantastic first experience!! We have tried to wash our dog at home and it was such a struggle. Had some anxiety of doing a wash ourselves, under the watchful eye of professionals, but the whole team at Dog N Scrubs made it so easy!! They talked us through each step and it was a success. Why arent there more reviews of this place? Disclaimer: This is only for grooming-my dogs are too high maintenance for me to do the actual bathing and grooming. It was fabulous! Our shih-tzu mix gets crazy, nasty matting and usually has to be shaved all the way down to get rid of it. This was the first time he came back looking like a cute fluffy dog, rather than a sickly, rat like skin and bones guy. They did a great job keeping some fur on him but getting the gross stuff out. HE's happier too! The price was right-they offer $10 off to new customers, but even the regular $45 (price for my dog) isn't too bad. They also carry TONS of treats and toys. read more

I have taken my dog here to do a self wash a lot. You self wash your dog and pay a fee (based on the size of your dog), to use their facility, towels, etc. The tubs are great because they are not metal and there is a nice rubber mat in the tub for the dogs to stand on. The wash stations are raised, so it is easy to wash your dog and they have plenty of towels and hair dryers for your use. The water is temp can be changed, so you don't have to freeze your dog. I bring my golden here - wash her and partially dry her and it keeps my bathroom at home clean - highly recommend. read more

I thought this place was great in the beginning but noticed the longer I took my dog there the less professional they got. It seems to me their staff got lazy as they shaved my shih-tzu down even when he wasn't matted and would charge me $80 for a bad grooming job. Addionally, they cut my Mom's dog causing her to get an eye infection and were not apologetic when they were informed. Thank goodness, I stopped taking my dogs there since and have found a much better groomer that charges less and actually listens to what I want instead of shaving him down each time! read more

I pretty rarely write reviews, but Shear Pooch deserves it. Barb, especially, and her team always take such great care of our mini goldendoodle, Lucy. We've been coming here for years and as a devoted pet parent it can be hard to find a groomer or anyone you really trust to care for your fur baby. Every time we walk in Barb greets Lucy like she's her own and always listens to the cut/style we want. They run an honest business and communication has always been easy. They are also great about calling if they have a cancellation and can get her in earlier when we wait too long to make an appointment and they book up. I'm so grateful we connected and after moving slightly further away, this business is worth the drive for us. Our poodle mix gets haircuts more often than I do. So it's important that we have someone we can trust to do a good job every oh...7 weeks or so. Diane and her team are so great with our Hooligan. She looks fantastic every time, and I can tell how comfortable she is with what could be a stressful process. No waiting in cages for hours, they are efficient. I normally don't put negative reviews but I felt very strongly about this one. The service was good when I started taking my dogs but I as I kept taking my dogs there, they would all just get buzz cuts. I thought maybe it was me, I was waiting too long in between grooms, however, I decided to take my dogs elsewhere and my new groomers are fast and my dogs NEVER have buzz cuts. My decision was not only on the buzz cuts, but one of my dog's eyes was injured during the bath. I never got an apology. It cost me money taking my dog to the vet, and her irritated eye (that she could not open)finally recovered after 2 weeks. read more

I've been currently coming here for a year now. They previously had a groomer who was amazing, but I have not been a fan of the new groomer. I have a dog who is not a fan of being groomed, but was always told they could handle those sorts of dogs and if there was any trouble, they would just have to charge me more which i understood. If you're looking for a place who will charge you $40 for a bath, this is your place. I was overcharged for a bath and a quarter of a groom of my dog because he was not cooperating. He was handed to me being not even done, but was charged for it. I am VERY disappointed and will not recommend this place to any one. Bunch of bull sh*t. read more

Love this place. I take my dog here to be groomed and Alicia does an amazing job! I have a very squirmy, nervous dog with a long dense coat and somehow Alicia manages to get her looking like a show dog. I don't know how she does it! I tried many groomers before this one and this is by far the superior one. It is very clean, not super noisy, and is rarely crammed full of dogs like you find at other groomers. Do not go here! Their customer service is unlike anything I have ever seen. The dog groomer Diana was so combative and rude and completely out of line. After two hours of having my dog they were no where near done with her so I asked if I could come back in a couple more to give them time to finish her. She responded by saying then she would have to charge me a daycare rate! Totally ridiculous as she should have been done already. The owner was nice enough to call me back and apologize, but nothing was offered to mend the situation. We will never be back and I hope no one else has to experience this horrible customer service. Owner is very nice. Great facility that has everything you need. It's so much better to wash my dog here than to try and wash him at home and all the mess that comes with it! I wasn't a fan of the groomer Denise but I believe she just left for another place. We religiously took our dogs here but it seemed each time brought on a new problem. A few times we had to take our dogs to the vet after their groom because of eye problems. Also, more often than not our dogs would have cuts on them. I always hoped it would get better because the lady at the front desk is always so nice, but it kept getting worse. The groomer also said one of our dogs was too uncooperative to get groomed and that he needed anxiety medicine. We would get a call 30 mins into the appointment that we would need to pick him up. The groomer said they could only give our dog a bath but then would charge us for a full groom. I finally decided enough was enough and today tried Kriser's. We had a wonderful experience there and both our dogs got groomed with no trouble. I do like supporting local, so am disappointed with how dog n scrubs turned out. However, now that Denise left maybe we would try again with a new groomer. read more

I took my 2 dogs here for the first time on Monday and it was great. My one dog gets super long fur so I need to get her groomed often. Shes also a nervous wreck most the time and Diane did a great job. I chose to go to a new place b/c I had a bad experience at another down the street where the lady cut her whiskers and my dog got skin irritation from whatever soap/chemicals they used. This place was the total opposite- they have a bunch of varieties of soaps to use that are all natural products. So while my bigger dog was getting groomed, I did the self wash for my little doxie and we were out of there after about 2 hours all together. Another perk is they have a loyalty program, so after 10 self washes you get one free, etc. GREAT PLACE! read more

Dog n Scrubs is really a great place to go to get your dogs groomed. I took my 13yr old husky in and he looks great and smells a ton better. He has some moles hidden in his fur and a water tumor on his side and they listened to me when I told them my concerns when he would be groomed. I would highly recommend this place. read more

A great self-wash. Large tubs, lots of towels and a friendly staff make it worth the expense and not having to clean dog hair out my own tub for days. They offer several different shampoo's with the use of the tub. The groomer was also very friendly and was willing to trim my dogs nails without an appointment.
