Tried several groomers. Our pup would come home depressed from stress. Often nicked in places you do not want nicked. We were always looking for a better place. We were referred through a friend. It is almost 30 minutes away in traffic, but we had to give it a try. My oversized Cavapoo gets excited when we pull up. He is treated like he is their own pet. When I pick him up he is so happy. Now we have another Cavapoo, we got our dog a dog of his own. He loves it there. Sarah does great work! The staff is tops from the wash to the finish. The dogs socialize there and it looks like a party when we pickup the boys. We tried the rest, but found the best. read more

I recently visited Groomingdales by Sarah with my geriatric dog in the hopes of getting her nails trimmed to improve her mobility during her final weeks and I feel it's my duty to warn others about this place. When I walked in, they had around 10 little dogs aggressively barking their heads off right next to my frail senior pup. It was clear my dog was uneasy and what's their brilliant solution? Instead of controlling their own unruly pack, they wanted to muzzle my 15-year-old dog, who had never experienced such a thing in her life. The icing on the cake was the staff's complete lack of empathy and utter indifference to my distress. They were unempathetic, uncaring, and frankly, downright rude. Thankfully, I had the sense to get out of there and find a groomer who actually knows how to treat both dogs and their owners with respect and professionalism. It's plain and simple: Groomingdales failed miserably in providing even the most basic care and consideration for our beloved pet. If you value your dog's safety and your own peace of mind, avoid this place like the plague. read more

The most unfriendly place I've ever walked into. It's also the only place where you are expected to walk through the gate with all of the large random dogs roaming around free. The owner seemed annoyed when I told her I preferred not to walk all the way in as larger dogs make me a bit timid when they are roaming free and I don't know them. At all places I've been to you leave your dog upfront and they take the dog from you. Her comment to me was "Most people don't mind because they own dogs" which means nothing to me as my dog is 4 pounds and these dogs were like 60. This is, BY FAR, the worst groomer I have ever taken my dog to. They quoted me a price above their normal rate because the dog had "long" hair. We'll, duh, that's why she needed to be groomed. I came back and they only did her face and said they needed another $100 to finish. Such a bait and switch. Plus the owner is super rude and condescending. She should not be a business owner, let alone being responsible for something as valuable as your loved pet. We all need to BOYCOTT this horrible business. read more

I have a cavachon and a cockapoo. Both their breeds get furry extremely fast and I used to take them to Pet Smart to get their regular hair cuts since it was convenient to drop them off and pick up their food. The groomers at Pet Smart always treated them like a number and my dogs were always very nervous when we would drop them off. In fact my one dog would always get diarrhea when she came home after her visit. Anyhow, my uncle recommended Groomingdales to me. On my first visit I was very pleased with the set up. Unlike Pet Smart where they take your dogs in the back room, Groomingsdale is one large room where you can see your dog get showered and cut. Sarah really loves dogs as she has one herself and she gives each dog personal attention. She always lets my two dogs stay together in one cage to keep each other company and calm each other down. My dogs are still sad to see me go but they no longer return with diarrhea problems so I know they are being looked after well. The shampoo that Groomingdales uses is really nice. My dogs always feel really soft and fluffy and smell great!! Their hair cuts look fantastic too! The prices are the same as you would anywhere else. I went in for a grooming based on a friend's recommendation that they were reasonable and did great work. Upon walking in, the owner immediately told me how matted my dog was and how she would have to charge me extra. I said I realized her face had some matted areas, but her body seemed okay....she had me get my dog on the table and took clippers out and started shearing my dog's face like a sheep (her words) in front of me to "prove" how matted. I was mortified and should've walked out. I was than made to feel like a terrible owner with all her underhanded comments regarding my dog. "I can tell you haven't groomed her in about eight months!" 3 months I commented that brushing my dog was my daughter's job and she said "that's not right!" My daughter is 15 and capable of using a brush. I said how busy life can be and she said "I hope you don't leave this dog home alone all day!" Really????? This dog is spoiled! Upon picking my dog up who now looks like a naked mole rat, the owner was on the phone clipping a dog. One of the dogs had peed on the floor and I used Kleenex to clean it up. I politely asked if there was a garbage can somewhere and she yelled at me to go outside with it. I said it is only pee and she said "I told you to take it to the outside garbage can!" After completing her call, she tended to me only reminding me to come in every six weeks and this won't ever have to happen to her again.....well no worries it won't, because we won't be back! A customer should never be made to feel bad.....the owner could've used a muzzle for herself! I wish I could give them zero stars! read more

Whoa, WHOA!... WHOA!!!! This place rocks!! I've been giving out a lot of 5 star ratings lately, but Groomingdales deserves this 5 star the most out of all my reviews. We have a 2 1/2 year old Golden Retriever that is a your typical 2 1/2 year Golden Retriever - hyper all of the time, restless, crazy - all around awesome. However, it takes a small army to hold her down just to clip her nails. After a few months of procrastinating her nails we just gave up and started to look for a groomer. My mother inlaw had brought their family dog to Groomingdales for many years and suggested that we try it out. The hook, line, and sinker was nail clipping for 5 dollars! Wha?! 5 dollars?! To deal with our spaz of a dog and get her nails clipped... DEAL! Thinking further in, we figured why not, let's go for the works as well. Lovie (our dog) had never been to a groomer before and we thought it would be an interesting experiment for us to see how she would act. I booked the appointment with ease, the staff is super accommodating. A little about Groomingdales - They only take 12 - 14 dogs a day to make sure their commitment to quality work is upheld. Each dog gets all of the attention they need without a rushed sense of urgency - no anxiety to the dog, no unnecessary stress - especially for one that has anxiety and stomach issues (lovie). If you're looking for a quick stop at the groomers, this is not the place for your - your dog deserves better than a 30 minute visit to the groomer. We dropped Lovie off at 9:00 a.m. and picked her up at 3:00. Granted, that for some people may think that's a long time... it was perfect - the quality of work do with the pets that come in is well worth it. I've taken my Westies to Groomingdale's by Sarah for over five years. My dogs absolutely love her and her staff. In fact, my little guy loves her so much he starts jumping up and down as soon as we enter the parking lot and he tugs on his leash to get inside faster. They do a great job and the dogs always come home happy, relaxed and looking awesome. I'm very surprised by the one other reviewer who had a bad experience because I've taken my dogs there regularly for years and never had anything but a happy dog and wonderful, personal service. There is something heart warming when your very own pampered pet loves her spa day.! And when she walks in she gives hugs to all the gals who bath and groom her. She knows when she is a place that loves her. The open atmosphere is just perfect for Sophia. It's a play date as well as a chance to socialize with other dogs AND come home looking pretty. My beagle/lab mix went for a bath and doggy daycare today. He smelled great, his fur was soft and best of all he was worn out from playing with the other dogs all day! I will be bringing him back for both grooming and daycare! The ladies are very nice and the dogs have a pretty big open area to play. LOVE Groomingdales! We have been coming here for years and started when we rescued an older Golden Retriever who had hip issues. The owner was considerate enough during a first visit to call us because of his discomfort standing for so long during the grooming process. She suggested we pick him up and break it up into two visits rather than one so he'd be more comfortable. Clearly, my dog's needs came first, as it should be. She won my confidence from that point on. With new dogs, I start the process of grooming slow with a few visits for nail trims or have the new dog come along along to pick up one of my other dogs. I believe this introduction helps. I have brought many of our dogs to Groomingdales for their grooming needs. They always leave looking, feeling, and smelling clean, far better than any other place I have tried. All the groomers are great and my dogs also seem happy to be there! TIP: Groomingdales takes walk-ins for nail trims. You'll be in and out in no time. I've never seen them miss by trimming a nail too close, another reason why I won't go anywhere else. Very friendly, they treat your cat and dog like their part of their family. Always hard to find a cat groomer. I have went threw six or seven groomers. You find a good one and they leave. Our favorite place for grooming. Not sure why one would complain that they had to shave your dog if they are matted. That is the owner's fault, not the groomer. We were told not to come back because our maltese mix is dangerous. Our dog was abused and is a rescue so is very nervous to begin with. But when you have strange dogs running loose it doesn't help a dog who is already scared. Also, she doesn't check to see if the dogs have been vaccinated. I think this groomer just doesn't want to take the time to calm down a terrified dog. read more

I wish i could give 0 stars. Ths is the frst place my dog ever went with me to get a groom, we went over 1 year ago but i felt this place needed to be reviewed. I went in to do a diy dog bath and the place was messy, dog hair everywhere, like no one had swept all day. The girl working was nice and all, but really knows nothing about proper grooming. My dog was freaked the hell out! He did not like having his nails trimmed, they don't dremmel, i asked why not and she gave me some made up bs reason. He was scared being on the table, when she tuened on the hair dryer he freaked out and tried to jump off and almost hung himself by the loop, she barely even moved, yes as in stood there while my dog choked himself, i lifted him up bc she certainly wasn't going to, she said it's normal and happens all the time that eventually they learn, evidently not dumbass. I guess they're easier to groom when they pass out. He stood still long enough for me to run a comd through his hair a handful of times, but it was time to leave. Basically i went home w/ a wet, freaked out dog with jagged nails. We now go to petsmart. He gets his nails dremmeled, he gets shaved and he lets them blow dry him, bc they are patient with him, and miraculiously he has never fallen off of a table there. I guess the owner doesn't like hearing that her staff is incompetent and let's bad stuff happen to customers when she's not around. And yes Sarah your shop left such a bad impression that it deemed a review even 1 year later. read more

I tried several grooming places before I found Groomingdales. Love the open concept and based on all the reading I did about what to look for in a groomer, that is what you want. You want to see their working conditions and where your dog will staying for the next few hours. If you don't want your dog to mingle with other dogs, they have crates. All the dogs I see that are mingling are usually playing or walking around. Never have I seen dogs not get along. Again, there are crates if you prefer that method. There are many many groomers that I wouldn't trust with my dog. They either groom behind closed doors or are scatterbrained. This is a reputable business. They are always on time and professional. Maybe that direct approach offends a few, but it is a business and jobs need to get done. Staff does not turn over and that is fantastic. read more

Groomingdales is my go to place to have my two Havanese get groomed to perfection. I have been taking Rosei and Sophie there for over a year and I have always been 100% satisfied. They are great with all the dogs so you won't hear all the whinning from the dogs that you hear at other groomers. They will even let the dogs roam in the shop when they are done being groomed if you would like them to. I have appsolutely no reservations in recommending them to anyone. read more
