I've had so many great experiences at The Pumpkin Patch over the years. They have, in my opinion, the very best selection of pumpkins, gourds, flint ornamental corn, cornstalks, and everything else that screams FALL! Indeed, their market is a legitimate indoor farmer's market that has produce, farm grown foods, and so much more! If Sauvie Island weren't such a drive from my house, I'd do my weekly shopping here! My nieces and friends love the petting zoo area, corn maze, and all of the other attractions that make this a family-friendly destination. Visitor's will find plenty of places to park, just be warned the ground can get pretty mucky in it's a rainy fall in the PNW. Wear boots, especially if you're committed to finding your own pumpkin in the field. Sauvie Island is definitely a worthwhile destination with it's twisting, winding roads, beautiful scenery and amazing beaches. It's one of the largest river islands in the United States, and it has a long, storied history dating back thousands of years when indigenous populations settled here. The Multnomah people and Chinook nation lived here, and successfully raised a root vegetable called "wapato," or wild water potatoes. There are plenty of places to stop and take photos, go for a hike, or go for a bike ride on Sauvie Island. The island is must-visit agricultural destination, known for its farms and produce stands. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Stop here for a snack or two on your way to Sauvie Beach. Stop again on your way back to stock up on farm fresh produce. You can also pick your own berries or just grab a pre-picked basket if you're pressed for time. There's a cute animal farm and cafe although their cafe was closed during our visit. They were also starting to grow their corn maze. Can't wait to come back to see if we can make it out of the maze. This place should be popping in the fall. We'll see you again soon!

A childhood favorite. It's been many years since I've been to the pumpkin patch and i mean many!!!! It was a wonderful experience. Though there were tons of people, the staff is super efficient. Lines were long but moved quickly. The maze was exciting. We were to choose different themes that had questions to answer. The answer to each question took you in a direction of left or right. This would determine how quickly you made it through the maze. I will admit when I got to the halfway point I exited the maze. I was tired. Overall great experience at the pumpkin patch. The hayride was awesome and I would definitely do it again.

Cute Gift Shop

Best farm ever!! You have it all! Hayride to a huge pumpkin field, Corn Maze, Market, Gift Shop, Animal barn, cows in the field we can say Hi to, hay pyramid, Cafe' with the BEST burgers and Coffee Cart....what more could you want???

We went on quite possible the busiest Saturday for finding a pumpkin. Lines. Lines for everything, to see the animals, for a snack, for a drink. Probably some efficiency opportunity for someone that just wanted a drink. The cider line was also the food line. Great pumpkin selection, the market for veggies was reasonably priced. I left with a giant eggplant and red cabbage paying less than $5. It was crowded as expected and I'd go again next year.

Consistent with their products, we frequent this farm the most. We absolutely love their variety of sweet corn and grabbed 9 corn in husk to enjoy this weekend. Snagged a huge head of cauliflower and an eggplant for my son who doesn't eat meat. We brought home their Pumpkin Pie cream ale and some peaches. It always such a lovely visit to our favorite farm and the drive is so beautiful as well. Can't wait for the fall so we can enjoy their corn maze as well as all the fun Fall festivities and goodies they sell at that time of year!

Me outside the market store!

Are there apple cider donuts?

We offer Apple Cider Donuts on the weekends in October!

Are dogs allowed?

Not allowed on the tractor to the pumpkin patch or on the actual patch. Also not allowed in the stores. But are allowed in corn maze.

We ended up getting ten pounds of Canadian Harmony and Starfire peaches. I can't forget the lovely aroma of the freshly picked peaches. It was 5 star friendly service from the entrance to checkout. They answered all our questions as first timers. They provided boxes with wagons available. They told us the row numbers of the available peaches. There is also a board after the entrance that listed the row numbers and peach varieties. Check their website first before going to confirm if they are open because hours may vary. It appears to be updated daily. When I checked in the morning, it showed the hours for that day were 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. It helped us plan our day as we decided to arrive sooner than later as the parking lot filled up. We are now going to include peach picking as part of our annual summer activities.

Parking can get filled up quickly but everyone was so friendly and helpful with tips about picking and the locations of the different varieties. The young man in the golf cart made sure me and my toddler were on the right path and also checked on and chatted with other people too. When we went there were Red Star, Vivid, and Starfire so we went around and picked a few of each. Check out was easy peasy with their scale and they also had local products and picked peaches ready for purchase. The young ladies at check-in were so nice and helped take pictures of us by their "Just Peachy" sign and put my wagon back for me (since I had my toddler with me and am also very pregnant lol). The service is amazing here, turned out to be a fun family activity, and of course the peaches were juicy and sweet. The season is short so please go and get your peaches and support this local business!

While it's a retail market with fresh fruit and veggies, a high quality butcher counter, deli, pantry items, spices, grains and beans, and premade meals, the bulk of their business is supplying to hundreds of local restaurants. During and after Covid, many of these restaurants went out of business which affects the entire supply chain. Sheridan's has suffered. Additionally, suppliers have raised their prices and residential shopping in the area has greatly decreased. All these factors combined have had serious consequences to this once thriving market. Sadly. When I stopped in earlier this month to buy escarole, a green leafy veg for Italian wedding soup, I was shocked to find most of the shelves bare. I was heartbroken, actually. This gem of a store has enabled me to make all of my favorite Italian dinners because they carry ingredients that most other stores don't. I'm from an Italian family and lived my entire life in NJ until moving to Portland in 2000. The first fall, when the weather chilled and I was craving Italian Wedding Soup, escarole was not available anywhere. Thankfully I found Sheridan's and have been a loyal customer ever since. I am doing my best to support them by buying my produce and veggies there, plus whatever other items I can find that I need. It is challenging since their shelves are not stocked, which means I buy what I can at Sheridan's and supplement from another grocery store. But that's what you do to help a business in need. Please, if you live in the area, buy what is available and help them through this very difficult time. Sheridan's is such a gem and it would be a tremendous loss to Portland to lose this market.

The market is well-stocked with unique shelf items from around the world-- pastas, jams/jellies, biscuits, oils, vinegars, tinned fish, and legumes. They have a vast deli case with meats, cheeses, and prepared items. The meat and fish counter is magazine-worthy and they feature some hot-food specials using meats and sausages from their counter. The wine selection is expansive-- we even saw a few bottles from the Loire region of France which we had the great fortune decades ago to visit family friends. It was the produce area that really made my heart sing and my eyes bug out. The produce section is colorful, artfully arranged. I could practically feel the antioxidants beaming into my body! I have never seen SO many varieties of alliums in my life. They had four different types of "green onion" (scallion, green garlic, calçot, and red spring onion), plus mahoosive leeks. We had a great experience with service which was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Since we were out and about doing other things we didn't get anything that required refrigeration like cheese, meats or produce, but we did have sandwiches from the deli case which were tasty. I look forward to going back for some of the produce and cheeses.
